Abstract

The sediments in this area are of fluvial and swarnp systems, The fluvial deposits include channel sand, and fine grained cIay of floodplain deposits. The swarnp deposits of Iine-grained include humic clay and peaty clay, the basement of this Quaternary deposits is tufaceous clay of pyroclastic. The character of Quaternary depositional style at the PangkaIan Balai and surrounding is dominantly influenced by autogenic mechanisms (internal processes), such as river channel systems and sediment supply from the    surrounding hills.  The cIimate factor of allogenic rnechanisms (externaI processes) is specific to related humidity as chemicaI, physics, or biology aspects in time. Keywords: Fasies, fluvial and swamp, internal and external process.

Abstract

Nowadays, natural resources in Indonesia have been decreased because of the rapid increase in development and human population. It is most likely that marine resources will become a primary source in supporting our economics in the future.                  Marine and coastal zones seem to become areas of our main priority for industrial, agrobusiness, agroindustrial, settlement, tourism, transportation and harbour developmen. However, these areas are still having various problems or cases which couId cause their unoptimum development and managements. The decrease of seawater quality standard caused by high suspended polluted by solid and Iiquid waste, sea water intrusions, abrations and accretions, shoalings, floods, and dryness are some of  the various cases which can be found in the marine and coastaI zones. Another case which is not less important is human behaviour who have destructed mangroves and changed the function of swampy forest to become fishpond areas. The survey in the marine and coastaI areas, especially in the eastern coast of the Cirebon regency, aims to obtain data, in which these cases are potentially found by applying the coastal characteristic observation and remote sensing methods.

Abstract

The Quatenary sediments in the studied area can be divided into fraction of coarse-grained sediments, fine-grained sediments, and both mixed grained sediment. They consist of:  (a) floodplan facies, (b) floodplain facies which are influenced by lake level rising or falling, (C) fluvial channel facies and (e) lake facies. The Quaternary sediments on margin lake Maninjau is the sedimentological response to allogenic mechanism controls. The allogenic controls are the climate, tectonics and lake level. The climate determines water and sediment as wells as the type of intervaI stratigraphic changes that can be recontructed. Tectonic and lake leveI set boundary condition to the energy of sediment supply also occurred.                Keywords: fasies, depositional environment, forming control factor

Abstract

The stratigraphy of Kuma River area is divided into six formations, bottom to top, Dalan, Duna, Kuma, Waeken, Wakatin, and Leko Conglomerate. The Dalan Formation is Trassic in age composed of interbedded well-bedded claystone and sandstone with a typical turbidite sequences. The Duna Formation is Jurassic in age, consisting of interbedded pelagic limestone and fossil (ammonites and belemnites) rich beds. The Kuma Formation is Upper Cretaceous to Eocene age comprising well-bedded medium beds pelagic limestone with abundant planktonic forams. The Waeken is Oligocene- Miocene age and comprises micaceous mudstone. The Wakatin Formation consists of light gray massive reefal limestone containing corals, sponge, algae, bivalves and benthonic foraminifers. The Leko Formation has a Pleistocene age consisting of conglomerate. Structural geology of this area comprises anticline, syncline, and normal fault that relats to the block faulting. The presence of reservoir and source rocks and also fold structure may play an important role in hydrocarbon prospective of the area. Keywords: interbedded pelagic limestone, turbidite sequences, chert layers, hydrocarbon

Abstract

Gravity anomaly in Taluk area can be grouped into: a. high gravity anomaly of 19 mgal to 55 mgal showing the Pretertiary high faulted to the surface. b. low gravity anomaly of 19 mgal to - 25 mgal predicted as a sedimentery basin. Distribution of oil shale of Keruh Formation is very limited. However, based on the result of investigation using gravity method, the subsurface basin configuration where the Keruh Formation occured is marked by a low anomaly from 0 to – 8 mgal and is situated in fault contact of the Kuantan Formation covered by yonger rock. Anticlines comprising : anticlines of Jakai, Taluk, and Lipai were formed by residual anomaly of 0 mgal to 11 mgal. The Jakai anticlines shows more extended dimension. While the Emas and Logen anticlines have much smaller dimension with lower anomaly. Muarapantai and Kualanangau anticlines in the northeast part have never been drilled. Anticline of Muarapantai was assumed to contain oil shale in TBS. Keywords: Taluk ,oil shale, basin ,anticlines, fault, anomaly, gravity

Abstract

Abstract

Analysis of Bouguer anomaly data in Sinabang Quadrangle produced a subsurface geological structure model including the configuration of basements of continental and oceanic crusts. Intrepretation of the anomaly patterns, the subsurface profile models including the geological structures depict the geological proseses, tectonics and its relationships with natural resources and tectonic earthquake. The qualitative analyses results of residual and Bouguer anomalies indicate that the structures in the researched area generally have northwest - southeast and southwest - northeast directions. Meanwhile the quantitative analysis shows the presence of two kinds of sedimentary rock with the density of 2.20 gr/cm-3  and 2.35 gr/cm-3  . Keywords : gravity, geological structure, earthquake, Sinabang

Abstract

Based on nine data from subsurfaces, the development of specific Quaternary sediments in the studied area is controlled by facies of floodbasin (Fcb), beach to transitions/tidal (Fpps), swamp (Fr), channel river (Fas), volcanic eruption (Feg), volacanic eruption which is influenced by water (Fegm), beach (Fp), and nearshore (Fldp). Corelation of successions of facies reflects the deposition of palaeoenvironment that is able to be divided into three periods, characterized by transgression and regression events. The development of the palaeoenvironment of deposition indicates that the position of shoreline changed from time to time. Perhaps, this is the result of changes in the depositional regime which is closely related to tectonic events. Keywords: facies, deposition of paleoenvironment, sea surface, tectonic

Abstract

The Mentawai Islands are situated on the Indian Ocean westwards of West Sumatera Province forming a non-volcanic island arc. Stratigraphic and tectonic development of the islands are strongly related to the subduction between the Indian Ocean and Eurasian Continental Plate. Tectonic activities have occurred since Early Tertiary - Late Pliocene. It has happened simultaneously with the Indian Ocean Plates collision moving northwards and subducted below the Sunda/Eurasian Continental Plate. The Ophiolite and Melange Complexes were exposed and overlain unconformably by the acceleration prism of sedimentary rocks (Mentawai Group) formed as a pond sedimentation deposited within a small basin situated between active thrust fault fragments. Based on the age determination gained from paleontological analysis, tectonic configuration, basin development, and sedimentation rate, the Mentawai Islands are believed to be formed by mélange complexes comprising part of an uplifted accretionary complex of a non-volcanic island arc. Keywords: stratigraphy, tectonic, mélange, Mentawai Islands

Abstract

The studied area is located in the low-land area of the northern part of Tondano Lake which is dominated by Quaternary lake and fluvial deposits. Based on the sub-surface data, the lithofacies distribution of the deposit can be divided into: (a) pyroclastic deposit, (b) repetition between channel sand lake and lake or swamp deposits and, (c) floodbasin and swamp deposits. The maximum development of the environmental deposition of Tondano Lake is indicated by formation of 1 up to 3 facies, while facies 4 which is situated above them was influenced by decrease of the lake environment. The increasing and decreasing of the lake environment in this area can not be traced continously. It shows a combination of spesific facies arrangement, such as: the lower part, indicated by volcanic activities which were deposited by water; the middle part, indicated by lake invironment; and the upper part, indicated by the end of a volcanic activity which was then followed by the development of a swamp environment and flood basin. Keywords: facies, eruption, climate, tectonics
