Abstract

This study aims to analyze the paradigm shift in academic studies related to Islamic mutual funds, from the conventional to the digital era, using a bibliometric approach. Utilizing publication data from the Google Scholar database over the past five years (2020-2025), we analyzed publication trends, keywords, author collaborations, and changes in thematic focus. The analysis results show a significant increase in the number of publications since 2020, in line with the development of the Islamic finance and financial technology (fintech) industries. In the early era, research focused primarily on legal aspects, Islamic principles, and conventional financial performance, while in the last decade there has been a shift toward digital integration, such as the use of big data, artificial intelligence, and digital applications in Islamic mutual fund management. These findings reflect the changing scientific approach and the need for interdisciplinary integration between Islamic finance and digital technology. This research contributes to the understanding of the development of Islamic finance and opens opportunities for further research on the development of the digital ecosystem for Islamic mutual funds.

Abstract

Poverty is a major challenge in Nigeria as a developing country, hence this study investigated the impact of foreign aid on poverty reduction in Nigeria for the period 1981-2023. The study used Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF), Granger causality technique and Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL). The ADF showed that poverty index, Official Development Assistance (ODA) and population were greater than their respective critical values; hence, suggest that poverty index and Official Development Assistance (ODA) were not integrated of order zero but of order one; while, foreign direct investment and inflation were integrated of order zero. Also, the bound test confirmed co-integration between the variables, which means that there is a long-run relationship between the variables. The granger causality confirmed a unidirectional causality between foreign aid poverty in Nigeria, implying that the change in the country's poverty levels are a result of foreign aid. Furthermore, the ARDL estimate showed that foreign aid reduces poverty in Nigeria in the short-run and long-run, with a higher level of reduction in the long-run, while population increases poverty in Nigeria in the short-run and long-run, with a higher level of increase in the long-run. This suggests that foreign aid helps to reduce poverty in the country, and sustained overtime. The study concluded that while foreign aid reduced poverty, population tend to aggravate the challenge of poverty. Therefore, recommended that since ODA led to a decrease in poverty level, the government should utilise ODA more effectively to reduce poverty in Nigeria. This requires securing more ODA and identifying the sectors of the economy that should be prioritized when ODA is to be used.

Abstract

A vibrant economy is achieved when actual output and potential output grow at an equal proportional, resulting in a zero output gap. In Nigeria of today, actual output may sometime be below its potential capacity or above it, leading to under-utilisation or over utilisation of resources. Therefore, this study examined the growth pattern of actual output and potential output in Nigeria from 2006-2025. The study used secondary data which were collected from the International Monetary Fund, IMF (2025). Thereafter, the study employed Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) and Phillip Peron (PP) unit root tests, and Johansen Co-integration for pre-test; while, a ten-year Moving Average (MA) was used to achieve the stated objectives. The ADF and PP unit root test showed the stationary level of the variables at level and at first level difference, the Johansen co-integration established two co-integration relationships at 5% level of significance.  The MA technique showed that from 2006-2009, Nigeria’s actual output and potential output were closed aligned, with the country operating near full capacity in 2006 and 2009 respectively. Therefore, implies a zero output gap. From 2011- 2020, actual output was below the potential output; therefore, indicates a negative out-gap.  Also, there was high tendency that Nigeria’s actual output gap exceeded potential output gap from 2021-2025. This implies a positive output gap. The study therefore, concluded that the country operated efficiently in 2006-2009, experienced idle capacity from 2011 to 2020, while that of 2021-2025 was over-utilisation of resources. Therefore, recommended that Nigeria government should reduce her excessive borrowing of external or domestic source, in order not to pluck the economy to further overheating. Also, government should invest more on physical and human capital so that the present demand for more workers would not be tentative in nature.

Abstract

Women’s empowerment is an important issue in the socio-economic context of Bangladesh, which is directly related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 and 10, but patriarchal society, poverty, veiling, child marriage, dowry, gender-based discrimination limit the opportunities for women’s empowerment. The objects of this study examine the actual status of women’s empowerment in Bangladesh and the effectiveness of initiatives taken by NGOs in recent decades. Through secondary data, policy reports and descriptive analysis, it examines how NGOs are addressing issues such as gender equality, microfinance, education, skills training, healthcare and legal awareness. The findings show that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as BRAC, TMSS, Proshika, UNDP, ASA, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad have been working towards women’s political, economic, social and educational empowerment through initiatives such as microfinance programmed, skill development, education, healthcare and legal awareness.  Despite their success, NGOs face challenges including patriarchal practices, child marriage, poverty, debt traps and difficulties in coordinating with government agencies. The study provides practical suggestions for enhancing collaboration with the government, awareness-raising campaigns, ensuring the presence of local resources, skills training programmed, incentives in the education sector, providing soft loans, implementing laws to prevent child marriage, dowry and violence, ensuring a women-friendly environment and quotas in the workplace, and increasing women's direct participation in decision-making. Overall, this study provides clear insights for NGOs, policymakers and other stakeholders to ensure women's empowerment.

Abstract

This abstract offers a comprehensive overview of a critical introduction to visual culture artists within the framework of postmodernism and deconstruction. It delves into how these influential theoretical paradigms have reshaped artistic creation, interpretation, and cultural discourse in the contemporary visual landscape. The study explores the intricate relationship between visual culture artists and the concepts of postmodernism and deconstruction, which challenge established norms, meanings, and hierarchies. Through an interdisciplinary approach, it investigates how artists engage with these frameworks, deconstructing traditional boundaries and reimagining artistic practice. By analyzing key works and artists, the abstract illustrates how postmodernist and deconstructive strategies dismantle grand narratives, blur the lines between reality and representation, and prompt a reevaluation of artistic intent. Emphasizing the role of ambiguity, intertextuality, and cultural context, this exploration showcases how visual culture artists incorporate postmodernist and deconstructive elements to provoke critical dialogue and challenge viewer assumptions. The abstract examines the impact of these movements on diverse art forms, from painting and sculpture to multimedia installations and digital art, showcasing the evolution of artistic techniques and themes. Furthermore, the study delves into the implications of postmodernism and deconstruction on the viewer's role, highlighting the participatory nature of interpretation and the destabilization of fixed meanings. It also addresses the challenges and controversies that arise when artists navigate ethical concerns, cultural appropriation, and the commodification of art in the postmodern era. In summary, this abstract encapsulates the essence of a critical introduction to visual culture artists through the lenses of postmodernism and deconstruction. It invites scholars, students, and art enthusiasts to explore the transformative potential of these paradigms in reshaping artistic landscapes and fostering a deeper understanding of the complex relationships between art, culture, and society.
