Abstract

This research aims are: 1. To identify, classify and describe the type of grammatical error on the first grade of Olympiad student’s descriptive text at SMP ISLAM 02 Pujon based on Surface Strategy Taxonomy Theory by Dulay, 2. To find the causes of error made by the students in writing descriptive text using H.Douglas Brown’s Theory of possible source of error. The research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The researcher used the instruction as the instrument to guide the student to write descriptive text, and the student’s descriptive text is considered as the data source. Based on research findings, the researcher found all error types and all source types with omission as the most type of error found, while intralingual is the most factor causing the student’s error on writing descriptive text.

Abstract

This  study  aimed  to  describe  the  implementation  of  rock  paper  scissorss game  in  teaching  speaking  at  Indocita  Foundation  Malang.  English  is  the  most prime language in the world. Speaking is the core of language learning also one of the most important skills in English to be developed and enchanced as means of effective communication. The approch used descriptive qualitative method where 35 students of junior high school especially nineth grade at Indocita Foundation Malang participated. The data collection used observation, interview and questionnaire. The result showed that  the implementation of rock paper scissors game helped the students to motivate  or treat the students to produce the  voice immediately.  Rock  paper  scissors  game  also  could  motivate  the  students’  to  be brave to speak up in English speaking class. This game in teaching speaking made the students realized that the students might have compete  with other members’ group and the students  got  more  effort  to  be  the  winner  in finishing  the  game soon.  The rock paper scissors took the students attention with the colourful papers in front of them which the students touched while students were speaking up. The problems were faced by the students during the process of implementation of rock paper scissors game in teaching speaking at Indocita Foundation Malang such as 1) cooperation  with  the  member’s  of  the  group  2)  lack  of  vocabularies  3)  lack  of fluency.

Abstract

The method used in this research was classroom action research. The researcher conducted this research from February until March 2020 in SMPN 16 Malang. The subject was the students of VIIIH in 2019/2020 academic year. This class consists of 30 students, 17 boys and 13 girls. In collecting the data, the researcher use observation and test. The test were given in pre-test, test 1 and test 2. The researcher analyzed the mean score of each test to find out the improvement of students vocabulary mastery after the action was conducted. The researcher conducted the action the students‟ vocabulary mastery increased optimally. It could be seen from the score that pre-test is 72,3, post-test 1 is 78,2, and post-test 2 is 79,8. Percentage the criteria of success on the pre-test is 53,3% and on the post-test 2 is 73,3%, from pre- test to post-test 2 is 20% After applying the action the researcher was able to solve the problem in improving vocabulary mastery. The students were able to take the word meaning based on the context. By using number head together technique in teaching vocabulary, students could easly understand and memorize vocabulary, the students are enthusiastic and enjoy during teaching learning process.

Abstract

The study about the effectiveness of Crossword Puzzle Games toward the Students Vocabulary at seventh grade in SMPN I Nangaroro in the academic year 2019/2020. The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness or not using crossword puzzle games toward Students' vocabulary achievement in seventh grade in SMPN I Nangaroro. The sample of this research was seventh-grade students of SMPN I Nangaroro. They were VII-C as the experimental class which consists of 20 students. For the sampling technique, the researcher used purposive sampling. In getting the data, the researcher used pre-test and post-test. The instrument of this research was the test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the T-test formula for analyzing The result of this study showed students' pre-test means score in the experimental class was 53.5 while the post-test mean score was 76.5. The result of the statistical calculation, the hypothesis of this research used T-table at a significant level of 0.05. According to the T-table list, the value of the distribution table 19 as a degree of freedom was 1.05. However, in this research T-score (TO) is 4.30 and T-table is 1.05. It is known that T-score is bigger than T-table = 4.30 > 1.05. Based on the result concluded Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. The finding of the study using crossword puzzle games in learning vocabulary is an effective way and quite a success it can improve the students' achievement in learning vocabulary.

Abstract

The outbreak of the Covid-19 virus has had an impact not only on the decline of the people's economy but also on the education system in Indonesia. As a result, the learning process is shifted to online learning. The application of online learning is inseparable from various problems, not only concerning facilities and infrastructure but also regarding the goals of education itself. The purpose of this study was to determine the problems of the application of online learning, especially in the affective and psychomotor domains. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Sources of data obtained through interviews with research subjects in STKIP PGRI Trenggalek. The results obtained indicate that the problems in the application of online learning in the affective and psychomotor domains concern student learning interests, the value of honesty and a sense of student responsibility, and student discipline. Meanwhile, in the psychomotor realm, the problem found is related to the implementation of English lecturer practice or assessment of student skills.
