Abstract

ABSTRACTReproductive productivity is a crucial aspect in the development of beef cattle farming in Indonesia. One of the main strategies to increase cattle population is artificial insemination (AI), whose success largely depends on reproductive performance indicators such as conception rate (CR), service per conception (S/C), and calving rate (CaR). This study aims to compare the reproductive performance of purebred Bali cattle and crossbred cattle (Bali × Limousin) based on secondary data from various national journals. A systematic literature review was conducted using studies published between 2015–2024. The results indicate that Bali cattle have a higher CR (75.67%) compared to crossbred cattle (69.51%), although their S/C value is slightly higher (1.66 vs 1.48). Bali cattle also show a superior CaR (68.44%) compared to crossbreds (59.84%). These differences highlight the superior physiological adaptation of Bali cattle to tropical environments and their stable local genetics. The study underscores the importance of optimizing locally based reproductive management strategies to sustainably support national beef cattle population growth. Keywords: Bali cattle, crossbred cattle, artificial insemination, conception rate, service per conception, calving rate.ABSTRAKProduktivitas reproduksi merupakan aspek krusial dalam pengembangan ternak potong di Indonesia.
