Abstract

Flat foot, or pes planus, is a foot deformity closely associated with the incidence of injuries to the lower extremities and is experienced by millions of people worldwide. The prevalence of flat foot reaches 25% of the general population. The aim of this community service program is to empower the role of health cadres in the early detection of flat foot at the Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) of Manggung Village, Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency. The method employed includes educational outreach to all Posyandu cadres, encompassing the wet footprint test, Clarke's angle measurement, gait assessment, and footwear evaluation. A total of 14 Posyandu groups were involved as subjects of the program. The expected outcomes are an improvement in the cadres' knowledge and skills in independently detecting suspected flat foot in children under the age of five.

Abstract

The success of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life depends on various internal and external factors. Salah satu faktor eksternal yang paling berpengaruh adalah dukungan dari keluarga, terutama dari suami, orang terdekat, dan anggota keluarga lain, seperti orang tua kandung, mertua, dan saudara. Family support has a complex dimension, encompassing emotional, informational, appreciative, and instrumental support, which can help mothers overcome challenges in the breastfeeding process. In this context, the presence of family as a support system is crucial for maintaining motivation and the success of breastfeeding. Healthcare interventions do not only focus on the mother, but also target the family as the smallest and most influential unit in supporting breastfeeding practices. The team provided one model of family-based education as a form of support to increase the mother's motivation, thus enabling exclusive breastfeeding to be achieved. The educational activities and demonstrations for families were carried out on 16 May 2026 in the Saigon district of Pontianak, with the participation of pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and their families, totalling 30 people. Data analysis was performed using a paired simple t-test and the results showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant difference in knowledge and attitude before and after the educational programme.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, affecting children's physical growth, cognitive development, productivity, and quality of life in adulthood. One of the factors contributing to stunting is poor appetite among toddlers, which leads to inadequate nutritional intake and suboptimal growth. Tuina Massage is a complementary therapy that can help improve digestive function and stimulate children's appetite. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of mothers and Posyandu (Integrated Health Service Post) cadres in applying Tuina Massage as an effort to optimize toddlers' appetite. The program was conducted at Posyandu Bibis Luhur, Nusukan Village, Banjarsari District, Surakarta City, involving 36 toddlers along with their mothers and Posyandu cadres. The intervention consisted of balanced nutrition education, Tuina Massage training and practice sessions, home-based implementation assistance, and growth monitoring of toddlers. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills in performing Tuina Massage. Growth monitoring revealed that the average body weight of toddlers increased from 11.48 kg to 11.75 kg, with an average weight gain of 0.27 kg. A total of 30 toddlers (83.3%) experienced weight gain during the monitoring period. These findings indicate that community empowerment through nutrition education and Tuina Massage training can support improved appetite and growth among toddlers as part of stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Malaria and stunting are interconnected major public health issues in eastern Indonesia, particularly in Papua. Malaria infection during pregnancy can cause severe anemia and Low Birth Weight (LBW), which are primary risk factors for stunting in children. A situational analysis in the Biak Kota Health Center service area in early 2026 indicated ongoing malaria cases among pregnant women and a stunting prevalence requiring intervention from pregnancy. The objective of this community service activity is to enhance the knowledge and empowerment of pregnant women and mothers of toddlers through the "Great Mother" Class (Pregnant Women Educate Babies and Toddlers), focusing on malaria and stunting prevention starting from the womb. The method employed was education and small group discussions using leaflets and nutritional counseling, executed in March 2026. Activity evaluation was conducted via pre-test and post-test. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge. The average pre-test score was 64.22 (with 44% of participants failing), which increased to 90.7 in the post-test, with 100% of participants achieving a passing category. It can be concluded that the "IBU HEBAT" Class is highly effective in breaking the stunting risk chain through malaria prevention and ANC optimization.

Abstract

Background: Low Back Pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal disorder frequently encountered in the working population, particularly those involving static activities such as prolonged sitting with poor posture. Administrative and operational staff at Unggul Sport Center are at high risk of experiencing this complaint due to long hours of desk work. Objective: This study aims to develop the concept and effectiveness of a print/digital media-based independent exercise education program as a preventive measure for LBP in Unggul Sport Center employees. Methods: This article uses a scientific literature review approach and a descriptive case study to design LBP prevention education media that includes an introduction to the signs, symptoms, and causes, as well as a regular stretching program related to every 30 minutes with an 8x1 count scheme, as well as morning exercises with a 2x8 count scheme. Results: Structured postural education and stretching interventions have been shown to significantly reduce low back muscle tension, improve trunk alignment, and prevent the accumulation of soft tissue fatigue due to prolonged sitting. Conclusion: Consistent implementation of an independent exercise education program in the Unggul Sport Center workplace can be an effective preventive strategy to reduce the incidence of low back pain and optimize employee productivity.

Abstract

Anxiety before childbirth may reduce maternal comfort and potentially affect the labor process. This community service program aimed to strengthen the husband's role as a birth companion through a childbirth support workshop. The target participants were couples/pregnant women in the partner area. The program consisted of education on stages of labor, training in non-pharmacological support techniques including effleurage massage, counterpressure, labor positioning, breathing exercises, positive affirmation, and distribution of self-learning educational media. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test knowledge assessment, observation of husbands' practical skills, and maternal anxiety assessment using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. The results showed an increase in husbands' practical skills from approximately 25-30% before the workshop to an average of 88% after the intervention. Maternal anxiety also decreased, with most respondents shifting from severe anxiety to mild or no anxiety. The workshop indicates that structured husband involvement can enhance physical and psychological support for mothers during childbirth.

Abstract

Neonatal asphyxia is an early-life emergency that requires rapid, accurate, and standardized responses from primary health-care providers. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge and basic neonatal resuscitation skills through Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Basic simulation for primary health-care workers at Kebonsari Primary Health Center. The program included partner coordination, needs assessment, module and SOP/checklist development, a two-day training consisting of brief lectures, skills stations, clinical scenarios, and evaluation using pretest-posttest and OSCE/checklists. Twenty-five participants joined the training. The mean knowledge score increased from 58 to 84, reflecting a 26-point improvement. Twenty-two participants (88%) achieved competency in positive pressure ventilation, while 20 participants (80%) were competent in chest compression and team coordination stations. The activity also produced a package of SOPs, checklists, pocket algorithm cards, and equipment readiness checklists. NRP Basic simulation is useful to strengthen primary care readiness in the initial management of newborns with breathing difficulties.
