Abstract

This study aims to develop Islamic nuanced module of rectangular for junior high school students and to determine students' responses to teaching materials in the form of Islamic nuanced learning module of rectangular. This study uses research and development (R&D) methods with the ADDIE development model. There are five stages in this model, namely Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The learning module were validated by several experts namely material experts, media experts, and religious experts. The results of the study showed that the Islamic mathematical modules on the rectangular material developed met valid and practical criteria. The validity of the module, assessed by material experts, media experts, and religious experts show respectively the percentage of 87%, 88%, and 91% which are included in the "very valid" category. The learning module are practical based on the student's practicality questionnaire in which the percentage of 92% is categorized as "very practical" category. This shows that the Islamic module nuanced on the rectangular material can be appropriately used for teaching and learning process which integrate Islamic values into mathematics learning. Keywords: Learning Module, Islamic Nuanced, Rectangular

Abstract

This study aims to describe learning process that is suitable to be applied during a pandemic and learning outcome in form of learning media that are effective, practical, easily obtained, economic and easily understood by university students in receiving material. As class setting (online learning) is 8th semester lecture in the ICT-Based Mathematics Learning Media course using action research method. This research design used 3 cycles, with each cycle passing through the plan-act-observe-reflect stage. Data collection technique is by using observation related to the skills of designing and developing simple math learning applications based on android. Research data analysis was carried out based on: (1) initial ability analysis; (2) reflection related to the online learning process (3) learning outcomes. The conclusions of this study are: (1) distance learning during a pandemic is to implement simple application and to use clear tutorial; (2) learning outcomes in the form of learning media with Android-based applicationsKeywords: LMS, Action Research, Pandemic

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe contextual learning about financial math problems for secondary high school students. This study begins with development research of learning tools using the 4-D model of Thiagarajan which consists of defined, designed, developed, and disseminated. The research subjects were students of grade 9 of SMK Prapanca 2 Surabaya. Three classes were randomly selected as a pilot test class, experimental class, and control class. The pilot class and the experimental class used a contextual learning model. While the control class uses a conventional learning model. The results showed that classical learning reached 9.268% of the experimental class students increased by 75% of the maximum score, effective student activity during learning, the ability of teachers to manage effective learning, and student responses to positive learning. While the classical learning completeness for the control class is classified as incomplete because only 78.05% of students exceed 75% of the maximum score. Based on inferential statistical analysis, the conclusions obtained from this study are the learning outcomes of students who take contextual learning better than the learning outcomes of students who take conventional learning. Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Contextual Learning, Financial Mathematics Problems

Abstract

This research was aimed to produce learning device at Quantum Teaching which focused on geometry and to know effectiveness of Quantum teaching on Geometry in grade X. The development of learning device was used 4-D model (Thiagarajan, et al.) with several modifications. The learning device which had been gained were Lesson Plan, Students Worksheet, and Test Instruments. The data source of this study was the students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 5 Barabai grade X in academic year 2014/2015: X-A would be the trial class and X-B would be the implementative class. Based on the trial result, which had been obtained was a good instruments of quantum teachings after it was being validated by experts and it had fulfilled these requirements: (1) teachers ability to manage this learning was good, (2) students activities were in ideal time, (3) students responses was positive, and (4) Test instruments was valid, reliable and sensitive. Thus, based on descriptive analysis, this quantum learning was also effective to learn geometry because it had fulfilled the effectiveness requirements, which are: (1) teachers ability to manage this learning was good, (2) students activities were in ideal time, (3) students responses were positive, and (4) classically, students reached their mastery standard: there were 83,33% from all of the students who got ≥70 for their score. Keywords: The Development of Learning Device, Effectiveness of Quantum Teaching, Geometry.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the students' metaphorical thinking in solving algebraic problems especially in view of differences in their mathematical abilities. Metaphorical in this study refers to metaphorical thinking with CREATE criteria. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative thinking approach. The subjects of this study consisted of three VII grade students of Al-Falah Surabaya Middle School with one subject from each category of high, medium and low mathematical abilities. Data collection is done by written assignments and interviews. To test the credibility of the data is done by time triangulation. At different times the tasks and interviews are given with problems that are equivalent to the previous tasks. The results showed that students with high mathematical abilities can reveal all CREATE criteria, students with moderate abilities can already check by writing down the steps in making models, operating and completing them. In addition, students did not reveal the criteria for transform, when in fact he had done it in the previous stage. Furthermore, students with low ability only re-read metaphors and their compatibility with the problem. These students did not reveal the criteria to relate, explore, analyze and experience. Keywords: Metaphorical Thinking, Algebra Problem Solving, and Mathematical Ability.
