Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research were to identify and to describe about misconceptions, and to find out the levels of response of VIII grade students of SMP N 5 Karanganyar experiencing misconceptions about factorization of the tribe in algebra based on SOLO taxonomy. This research was categorized as a qualitative research using a case study design which was only focused on one selected and comprehended phenomenon deeply, and neglecting other phenomena. This particular phenomenon was the response level based on SOLO taxonomy of VIII grade students of SMP N 5 Karanganyar experiencing misconceptions about factorization of the tribe in algebra. The subject of this research were VIII grade students of SMP N 5 Karanganyar. The criteria to choose the main subject of the research were that the students had learnt a topic about factorization of the tribe in algebra and the main subject were taken based on test results by using CRI technique and the teacher’s recomendation. The data in this research were in the form of the students’ written answer results in finishing the problem solving test. The result of those written answers became the first data analysis of the researcher. Those first data analysis were in the form of description about misconceptions experienced by the subject and the levels of the subject’s response based on SOLO taxonomy in each problem. Those first data analysis were also used as a guide to do interviews. The interviews were both to clarify the subject’s written answers and to strengthen the data finding of the first data analysis. Then the results of the subject’s written answers and the results of the data analysis from the interview were drew  conclusions. The triangulation technique was used as the validity of the data in the planning of the learning process by using problem solving test which was later clarified by the interview. The results of this research are follows. 1) The misconceptions experienced by the subject: the misconception in the use of the equal sign symbol (=), the subject were mistaken in interpreting the instruction order from left to right and the equals sign symbol (=) was wrongly interpreted as implication (⇒) to show the name which represented value and calculation with different results; the misconception of the substraction in algebra, it was a procedural misconception in the use of distributive rules by neglecting the minus sign; the misconception of the multiplication in algebra, it was a procedural misconception in the use of distributive rules by doing multiplication only in the first set when working with multiplication formula in algebra. 2) The levels of the subject’s response experiencing misconceptions were on the levels of multi-structural, uni-structural and pre-structural level.Keywords: Misconception, response level, SOLO taxonomy

Abstract

This research is an effort to improve students' critical thinking ability by applying Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning with Means Ends Analysis (MEA) strategy. The method used in this research is classroom action research in 2 cycles. Each cycle passes through 4 stages; they are planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The learning process in class X IPS-3 for each cycle uses RME approach with MEA strategy. Students are given an essay test at each end of the cycle to measure their critical thinking abilities. Conclusion shows that students? critical thinking ability increases from 56% (cycle I) to 84% (cycle II) by applying RME approach with MEA strategy.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the process of concept formation in reinventing Pythagorean Theorem and to analyze the result of that process and the misconceptions that may emerge. The type of this research is qualitative research which is analyzed descriptively. This research applies class setting method in learning activity with the implementation of PMRI approach and it focuses on two subjects. The results shows that the process of concept formation in reinventing the Pythagorean Theorem with PMRI approach can work well. However, the two subjects have not been able to construct the given problem, which is in the form of a question, to be the form of a mathematical modeling. Subject 1 still processes the information rawly. Therefore, the result of concept finding with his/her knowledge used for solving problems by the same model has not been able to reduce data. Subject 2 has been able to process the obtained information and he/she can interpret the problem further. However, both subjects still experience misconceptions not only in their already possessed knowledge but also their newly acquired knowledge. Those misconceptions are misconception in calculating operation of equation system, which should be calculating operation on both segments but it is only carried out in one segment, misconception in describing hypotenuse and misconception in naming edges of a right triangle.

Abstract

The design of HOTS Ethnic-Mathematics is the stage that has been intended in this study. This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) by producing results in the form of Mathematics Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions based on culture and local wisdom (Ethnic-Math HOTS). The development model referred to by the researcher is the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) which is adapted into Analysis, Design, and Development (ADD). The conclusion of this paper is Mathematical problem designs that are integrated with local culture and local wisdom can be developed into questions that have a function to measure students' high-level abilities. High-level abilities that can be measured using these questions are analytical skills, evaluation skills and creative abilities. By completing questions related to the culture in the area around students, students will be more challenged and motivated to do it. In addition, it will increase students' knowledge about the local culture in the area.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi kini telah mempengaruhi berbagai aspek kehidupan, tidak terkecuali bagi dunia pendidikan. Seorang pendidik, baik guru maupun dosen, dituntut untuk mampu mengikuti dan menerapkan teknologi seiring perkembangan jaman dalam proses belajar mengajar. Penerapan teknologi ini dapat digunakan pada media pembelajaran interaktif, sebagai solusi agar materi yang disampaikan oleh pendidik terlihat lebih menarik. Dengan demikian, dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pelatihan pembuatan media pembelajaran interaktif bagi guru dan dosen. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pendidik dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis whiteboard animation sederhana berbantuan aplikasi explee. Kegiatan pelatihan diikuti oleh 88 peserta yang terdiri dari guru dan dosen di beberapa instansi. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan tahapan yaitu 1) persiapan; 2) pemaparan materi; 3) pembuatan media pembelajaran oleh peserta; 4) pengumpulan tugas; dan 5) evaluasi. Hasil tanggapan peserta terhadap kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah positif. Dari kuesioner yang disebarkan ke peserta, sebanyak 69,3% menyatakan bahwa materi pelatihan sudah sangat baik dan berguna bagi peserta.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the ability of interpret symbols in numerical methods. The extent of the interpretation at the level of procedure and calculation only, or its already at the level of understanding of the concepts represented by symbols with good and right way. This type of research is qualitative research. The data that obtained are analyzed in descriptive. The election of the subject based on purposive sampling technique, i.e. taking the subject with considerations/criteria 6 semester students who was taking the course numerical methods, critical and active in discussions. The subject is only drawn by 1 student, subsequently coded MN1.The material is focused in determining the approximate root of equation with the method of false position. The methods used to collect data in this research is the observation, tests and interviews. So, that the triangular used in this research is the triangular techniques. Conclusion based on the results of the research showed the new symbols to interpret NM1 limited calculation procedure only. NM1 considers, with the same symbol but different forms of counting operation, was a mistake. NM1 gives the wrong result of conclusion renders the procedure is only seen from the similarity to the symbol, not the views of the concept behind the use of the symbol.

Abstract

ABSTRAK                                                               Kegiatan PKM Model Pembelajaran di Pondok Pesantren An-Nahl Darunnajah 5 Cikeusik, Pandeglang ini bertujuan untuk menjadikan guru sebagai pendidik yang  berkualitas dan membawa suasana menyenangkan, dapat mengoptimalkan belajar peserta didik meningkatkan motivasi peserta didik menjadi lebih tinggi, sehingga mempunyai rasa senang dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu memberikan gambaran bagi guru mengenai model pembelajaran untuk mengembangkan dan mengoptimalkan kemampuan softskill peserta didik dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di Pondok Pesantren An Nahl Darunnajah 5. Peserta dalam kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah seluruh pengajar di Pondok Pesantren An-Nahl Darunnajah 5. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan yang telah dirumuskan di atas adalah memberikan informasi dalam penerapan Model Pembelajaran dengan Kombinasi Cooperative Learning. Materi yang diberikan saat pelatihan memuat pengenalan, perancangan dan penerapan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Kata kunci: Model Pembelajaran ABSTRACTPKM Activities Learning Model at Pondok Pesantren An-Nahl Darunnajah 5, Cikeusik, Pandeglang, Aims to make teachers a quality educator, and bring a pleasant atmosphere, can optimise student learning to increase the motivation of learners to a higher level, so have the pleasure of following the learning process. This activity is expected to provide a description for teachers on the model of learning to develop and optimize the ability of the student softskills in the learning activities at Pondok Pesantren An Nahl Darunnajah 5. Participants in this training activities are all teachers in Pondok Pesantren An-Nahl Darunnajah 5. The method used to achieve the above-formulated objectives is to provide information in the implementation of the learning Model with a combination of Cooperative Learning. The materials provided during the training contained the introduction, design and implementation. The implementation of this activity is conducted in three phases, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation.

Abstract

ABSTRAKCorona Virus Disease (Covid-19) membawa dampak yang sangat besar bagi sektor pendidikan. Salah satunya adalah pergeseran pembelajaran yang tadinya terdapat tatap muka menjadi Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (PJJ). Hal ini membuat guru sebagai pendidik dituntut kreatif dalam menyampaikan materi melalui media pembelajaran online. Seorang guru dapat dikatan professional jika mampu beradaptasi dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan serta mampu menerapkan model, metode, media, maupun pendekatan pembelajaran berdasarkan kebutuhan peserta didik. Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme guru, maka perlu dilakukan upaya berkesinambungan seperti kegiatan pelatihan maupun pembimbingan bagi guru. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini untuk meningkatkan profesionalitas guru melalui kegiatan Pelatihan Peningkatan Kompetensi Guru Melalui Pembelajaran Berbasis Whiteboard Animation Sederhana Berbantuan Aplikasi Explee. Bentuk kegiatan yang telah dilakukan yaitu 1) memperkenalkan konsep whiteboard animation; 2) memperkenalkan tahapan pembuatan media ajar berbasis animasi dari mulai pra produksi, produksi, hingga pasca produksi; 3) mengenalkan bahan ajar digital berbasis whiteboard animation tematik sesuai dengan mata pelajaran yang diampu. Kata kunci: pelatihan; whiteboard animation; aplikasi Explee. ABSTRACTCorona Virus Disease (Covid-19) has a huge impact on the education sector. One of them is the shift of learning that was once face-to-face to Distance Learning (PJJ). This makes teachers as educators are required to be creative in delivering materials through online learning media. A teacher can be a professional if he is able to adapt to the development of science and is able to apply models, methods, media, and learning approaches based on the needs of learners. As an effort to increase the professionalism of teachers, it is necessary to make continuous efforts such as training and mentoring activities for teachers. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve teacher professionalism through Teacher Competency Improvement Training through Simple Whiteboard Animation-Based Learning Assisted by Explee Application. The form of activities that have been done is 1) introducing the concept of whiteboard animation; 2) introduce the stages of making animation-based teaching media from pre-production, production, to post-production; 3) introduce digital teaching materials based on thematic whiteboard animation in accordance with the subjects that are mastered.  Keywords: training; whiteboard animation; explee application.
