Abstract

Bullying is an aggressive act that is often repeated and directed at individuals in a weaker position, causing detrimental effects on psychological aspects, particularly children's self-esteem. When children's self-esteem is low, they tend to consider themselves worthless and choose to avoid social interaction. This study aims to analyze the correlation between Bullying behavior and self-esteem levels among elementary school students. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. All 97 students in grades IV, V, and VI at SD Negeri 11 Banda Aceh were used as research subjects through total sampling. The questionnaire used included indicators of Bullying behavior and self-esteem levels. Based on the data obtained, of the 54 students identified as experiencing high levels of Bullying behavior, 44 children or 45.4% showed low self-esteem. On the other hand, of the 43 students who were exposed to low levels of Bullying, 35 of them, or about 36.1%, had high self-esteem. The chi-square test in this study produced a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant relationship between Bullying patterns and self-esteem levels in children. Thus, it can be concluded that an increase in Bullying experiences in the school environment has an impact on the decline in students' self-esteem.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding (ASI) is the provision of only breast milk to infants for the first six months without additional food or drink, including water. Breast milk has important benefits in improving infant health, growth, and survival. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia, including in the Pasar Health Center in Prabumulih City, has not yet reached the national target of 80%. One factor influencing the success of exclusive breastfeeding is husband's support. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between husband's support and exclusive breastfeeding. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 49 mothers with infants aged 7–12 months. The study was conducted in the Pasar Health Center in May 2025. The results showed that 28 infants (57.1%) received exclusive breastfeeding, and 30 mothers (61.2%) reported receiving support from their husbands. Statistical tests using the chi-square test showed a significant relationship between husband's support and exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that husband's support plays an important role in successful breastfeeding. This research suggests that involving husbands in breastfeeding education and support is highly recommended to increase the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the community.

Abstract

The high number of hypertension cases is due to the still low level of hypertension control, specifically medication adherence. Treatment adherence is crucial for maintaining health and well-being in patients with hypertension. In contrast, non-adherence to medication leads to treatment failure. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-management and adherence to hypertension medication in the elderly. This research employed an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study consisted of 49 elderly people with hypertension in Cot Cut Village, Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar. The sample was chosen using a total sampling technique. The MMAS-8 questionnaire was used to assess adherence to hypertension medication with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.860. The self-management questionnaire showed a Cronbach's alpha of 0.766. The research was conducted from April 8th to 14th, 2025. The data analysis used univariate and bivariate methods, using the chi-square test. The results showed that out of 49 respondents, 21 (42.9%) were less adherent to hypertension medication, and 29 (59.2%) had less adherence to self-management. The chi-square test indicated a p-value of 0.001, showing a relationship between self-management and adherence to hypertension medication among the elderly. This research suggests that hypertensive patients should be supervised to improve medication adherence and self-care management to maintain stable blood pressure.

Abstract

Laboratories are work environments that contain various physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial hazards that may lead to occupational accidents and work-related diseases. The implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is therefore essential to ensure the safety and well-being of laboratory personnel. Previous studies have shown that the successful implementation of OHS is influenced by several factors, including knowledge, attitudes, and the availability of safety facilities. This study employed a literature review method by examining 10 scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026. The selected articles were identified based on topic relevance, variable suitability, and full-text availability. Data were analyzed descriptively through a synthesis of research findings. Most of the reviewed studies indicated that OHS knowledge was significantly associated with the implementation of safe work practices. Positive attitudes toward occupational safety were found to enhance compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs). Furthermore, the availability of safety facilities, such as PPE, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, adequate ventilation, evacuation routes, and laboratory SOPs, was shown to support the effective implementation of OHS. Knowledge emerged as the most dominant factor compared to other variables. In conclusion, knowledge, attitudes, and the availability of safety facilities significantly influence the implementation of OHS among laboratory personnel. Strengthening OHS education, fostering a safety culture, and providing adequate safety facilities are necessary to improve the effectiveness of OHS implementation in laboratory settings.

Abstract

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes mellitus (DM) and heart disease are now beginning to manifest at a younger age due to the accumulation of overlooked behavioral risk factors. College students, as a transitional group, are vulnerable to unhealthy lifestyles due to academic pressures and financial constraints. This study aims to screen students’ lifestyle behaviors and identify their association with family medical history as an early risk factor for NCDs. This quantitative study with a cross-sectional design involved 50 students from the Faculty of Public Health at Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta, selected using voluntary response sampling in May–June 2026. Data on lifestyle behaviors (dietary patterns, sleep duration, screen time) and family medical history were collected via a digital questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results showed that 28% of students had irregular eating patterns, 34% were sleep-deprived (<6 hours/night), and 42% had high screen time intensity. A total of 18% of respondents had a family history of diabetes mellitus (DM) and 38% had a family history of heart disease. The combination of a sedentary lifestyle, irregular eating patterns, and sleep restriction significantly increases the risk of insulin resistance and cardiovascular burden, particularly in subjects with a genetic predisposition. In conclusion, there is a high prevalence of NCD-related risk behaviors among college students, exacerbated by economic factors and digital dependency. The interaction between modifiable lifestyle factors and genetic susceptibility calls for proactive screening programs and context-specific health education on college campuses as fundamental preventive measures to break the chain of chronic disease risk early on.

Abstract

Adolescents face significant barriers in accessing reproductive health services due to fears of privacy breaches and social stigma. In primary healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals are often trapped in a dilemma between the obligation to maintain medical confidentiality based on professional ethics and national regulatory demands requiring parental involvement for underage patients. This study aims to analyze the practice of protecting adolescent patient data privacy at Mardi Saras Primary Clinic and identify the gap between practical implementation and the norms of medical ethics and applicable legal regulations. This study employs a socio-legal research method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with doctors and nurses, observation of service procedures, and study of the clinic's Standard Operating Procedures. The results indicate that although Mardi Saras Primary Clinic has implemented basic confidentiality protocols such as closed consultation rooms, there are substantial weaknesses in informed consent management, which still heavily relies on parental presence for all adolescent cases. This practice is driven by healthcare professionals' fear of legal risks, thereby ignoring the principle of developing autonomy in adolescents. These findings indicate a disparity between rigid administrative compliance and the spirit of protecting adolescent health rights within national regulations. The implication of this study underscores the urgency of developing specific SOPs that are sensitive to adolescent rights, as well as the need for continuous training for healthcare professionals regarding the legal and ethical boundaries of maintaining confidentiality for underage patients without compromising legal safety aspects.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of maintaining environmental quality in high-activity public transportation facilities. This study aims to determine the impact of public activities on the environment at Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta, focusing primarily on air quality and waste management issues. This study utilizes a qualitative descriptive method through direct field observation techniques and in-depth interviews with terminal managers and workers. The results show that the heavy traffic of motorized vehicles and the ongoing excavation projects around the location cause the air quality around the terminal to fall into the moderate category. Based on IQAir data, the primary pollutant detected is PM2.5 at 27,8 µg/m³. Furthermore, the high activity of passengers and street vendors leads to a significant increase in waste volume, particularly during the peak mudik (exodus) season. Based on interview results, sanitation workers routinely clean the terminal area everyday to maintain environmental cleanliness. This study recommends increasing the frequency of waste collection and planting pollutant-absorbing vegetation.
