Abstract

This study examines digital marketing as a survival strategy for rural MSMEs during the pandemic, focusing on Nganjuk Regency, East Java. The background highlights the challenges of digital adaptation in rural areas, which differ significantly from urban contexts, and the high failure rates in sustaining digital operations. The research aims to understand the socio-technical adaptation processes underlying rural MSMEs' use of digital platforms by integrating the Technology Acceptance Model with Javanese cultural values. The methodology employs a 12-month mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys of 70 MSMEs, digital ethnography (120 hours), transaction data analysis, and in-depth interviews. Key findings reveal four unique adaptation strategies: platform syncretism, social commerce adaptation, proxy digitalization, and offline-online bundling, demonstrating how rural MSMEs blend digital logics with local business traditions. These findings contribute to the concept of "indigenous digital marketing" and challenge universal assumptions in digitalization paradigms.

Abstract

This study examines the sustainable economic transformation in rural Indonesia through a case study of Warujayeng Village, East Java, focusing on the integration of traditional practices and modern innovations in the post-pandemic era. The research addresses how rural communities navigate economic resilience by synthesizing local wisdom with technological advancements, challenging conventional modernization paradigms. Employing a qualitative approach with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, the study reveals three key adaptation phases: selective resistance, limited experimentation, and hybrid practice institutionalization. Findings demonstrate that 72% of traditional traders adopted digital platforms while maintaining interpersonal transactions, and polyculture farming systems showed 23% greater resilience than monocultures during crises. The study contributes to development theory by introducing "culturalized innovation" and "digital embeddedness" concepts, highlighting informal institutions as crucial innovation mediators. Practical implications suggest culturally sensitive policy frameworks for rural development, emphasizing asset-based approaches and spiritual-social capital integration.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of brand image, brand trust, and brand equity on customer loyalty for Wardah halal cosmetics at Counter Nikisae Tulungagung, Indonesia. Against the backdrop of rapid growth in the global halal cosmetics market, the research addresses gaps in understanding how these brand elements interact in offline retail settings. Using quantitative methods with accidental sampling (n=99), data was collected through validated questionnaires and analyzed via multiple linear regression. Results reveal all three variables significantly affect loyalty (p<0.01), with brand equity showing the strongest impact (?=0.343), followed by brand image (?=0.316) and brand trust (?=0.311). The model explains 35.1% of loyalty variance (R²=0.351), highlighting the particular importance of religious values in brand equity formation and the role of in-store experiences in building trust. These findings enrich the Customer-Based Brand Equity theory in halal contexts while providing practical insights for omnichannel strategy development in Indonesia's growing Islamic cosmetics sector.

Abstract

The expansion of Indonesia’s financial sector has been accompanied by the development of Islamic financial institutions as an alternative to conventional finance. Despite their growth, the integration of Islamic economic principles into the modern financial system remains subject to various structural and operational challenges. This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic economic principles within Indonesia’s financial system, identify factors influencing their application, and assess their contribution to the development of the Islamic finance industry. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, this research is based on library studies using primary sources from the Qur’an and Hadith, complemented by secondary data from academic literature, scholarly journals, and official reports. The findings indicate that Islamic economic principles have been institutionalized through Islamic banking, takaful (Islamic insurance), and Islamic capital market instruments. Their implementation has been supported by regulatory development, institutional expansion, and increasing public awareness of Islamic finance. However, several constraints persist, including relatively low levels of Islamic financial literacy, limitations in human resource capacity, and the need for greater product diversification and innovation. The study further finds that the contribution of Islamic finance to the broader financial system remains below its potential, reflecting gaps between regulatory objectives, market penetration, and institutional performance. These findings suggest that strengthening literacy, human capital development, and innovation strategies are important factors in enhancing the role of Islamic economic principles within Indonesia’s contemporary financial system.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate how environmental, social, and governance disclosures affect the firm value of companies in the basic materials industry that are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2020 and 2024. This study used a causal associative design and a quantitative technique. Purposive sampling was used to choose the sample, which included 50 businesses with 250 firm-year observations.  Tobin's Q was used to represent company value, while the GRI Standards 2021 disclosure index was used to quantify ESG disclosure. Multiple linear regression was used to analyse the data using IBM SPSS version 25. The findings demonstrate that Environmental Disclosure, Social Disclosure, and Governance Disclosure do not significantly impact firm value when tested individually. However, the three ESG dimensions jointly show a statistically significant association with firm value, although the model's explanatory power remains limited. By applying the GRI Standards 2021 framework with fresh empirical data from Indonesian Basic Materials sector firms during the post-pandemic period, and bolstering sustainability-related policies, this study adds to the body of ESG literature.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of population administration policies in issuing birth certificates for the productive age group in Payakumbuh City, examine ownership coverage, assess data accuracy, and formulate strategies for improvement. The main issue is the low coverage of birth certificate ownership among the productive age group, which only reaches 47.19%, far below the coverage of children aged 0–18 years at 99.53% and the overall coverage of 58.05%. Data accuracy also remains problematic, as indicated by 58 corrections out of 4,233 certificates issued in 2025. This research employs a qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analysis based on Miles and Huberman’s model and validation through source and technique triangulation. Policy implementation is analyzed using George C. Edward III’s framework of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. Findings reveal that communication and outreach are not yet optimal, public awareness is low, and data accuracy is not fully guaranteed. Strategies proposed include updating population data, integrated services, document verification, and proactive outreach to the productive age group. These efforts are expected to enhance both coverage and accuracy of birth certificate ownership sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of community participation and to formulate strategies to enhance participation in the development of Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang, Palembayan District, Agam Regency. The main issue addressed in this research is the low level of community involvement in development activities, particularly in the planning stage and village deliberation (musyawarah nagari). This study employs a qualitative approach and quantitative with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews and documentation involving informants from the nagari government, community leaders, and local residents. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, supported by SWOT analysis to formulate appropriate strategies. The results show that the level of community participation remains low and tends to be symbolic. Supporting factors include the values of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and the role of traditional leaders, while inhibiting factors include low public awareness, limited access to information, and geographical conditions. Strategies to improve community participation include enhancing transparency, strengthening the role of nagari institutions, and encouraging more active, inclusive, and sustainable community involvement in all stages of development.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of work discipline, digital literacy, and work motivation on employee performance at the UPTD Balai Benih Induk Tanaman Pangan dan Alat Mesin Pertanian (Alsintan) in Lampung Province. The research used a quantitative descriptive approach with 35 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression, supported by tests of normality, linearity, multicollinearity, determination coefficient, t-test, and F-test. The findings show that work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, indicating that better adherence to rules, punctuality, and responsibility leads to improved performance. Digital literacy also has a positive and significant effect, meaning that stronger ability to use digital technology and information in work contributes to better performance. Work motivation likewise has a positive and significant effect, showing that higher internal and external drive improves work spirit and quality. In addition, work discipline, digital literacy, and work motivation simultaneously have a significant effect on employee performance. These results suggest that employee performance can be improved through integrated efforts to strengthen discipline, enhance digital literacy, and maintain motivation in the workplace.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of perception, religiosity, and knowledge on students’ saving interest in Islamic banks with attitude toward Islamic banking as a mediating variable. The study employed a quantitative approach using primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to university students in Malang City. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results show that perception and knowledge significantly influence attitudes toward Islamic banking, but do not directly affect saving interest. Religiosity does not significantly influence either attitude or saving interest. Meanwhile, attitude toward Islamic banking has a highly significant effect on saving interest and becomes the most dominant variable in the research model. In addition, attitude is proven to fully mediate the influence of perception and knowledge on saving interest, but is unable to mediate the effect of religiosity. Overall, the findings indicate that students’ saving interest is more strongly influenced by affective factors in the form of attitudes formed through cognitive factors such as perception and knowledge. This study contributes to the development of Islamic financial behavior literature and provides implications for strengthening Islamic financial inclusion among students.
