Abstract

The strategy is very important in teaching so the teacher must be able to choose a strategy that suitable with students’ need. Time Reading Activity (TRA) which is design allow students to self-assess their reading, reading quickly under time pressure and answer several question. This strategy used to know the effect on students’ reading speed in SMA Darul Kholil. The method used in this study is pre-experimental design which is designed by using one group pre-test post-test. In this method the researcher only use one group in collecting data. The research conducted to all of students in X IPA with a total 24 students. The result of students pre- test and post-test show improvement. The score in minimum and maximum both of the test are increased. Not only that, the students reading times are faster with the mean of score pre-test 62.08 and the mean of post-test scores is 79.58. There is significant effect on students regarding Time Reading Activity strategy. This can be seen from the results of the paired sample t-test which show t-test value is greater than t-table. From has been counted through SPSS, the t-test value (8.668) t-table value (2.068) with significant value 0.000.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' writing skills. Some students consider writing skills in English to be difficult, boring and unpleasant. Because a teacher's learning model tends to be monotonous and lacking in teaching media. Many students are familiar with smartphones, and some even use them to study. Therefore, by using smartphones teachers and students can access several applications for learning such as quiz applications which have been proven to be effective in learning English. Quizizz is a form of digital instrument that requires all your students to start practicing together in class using technological tools such as computers, iPads, tablets, or smartphones, resulting in fun training for students. This research is a quantitative research using the Pre-Experimental design method using one group pretest-posttest to see the improvement in students' writing skills using media in the form of quizzes. This research was conducted in class XI MIPA MA Al- Mu'tadil. The sample was determined by total sampling technique and the number of samples was 10 people. To assist in data processing and prevent errors in data analysis, researchers used SPSS version 22 to analyze data based on data. From the results of the analysis based on the results of the Paired Sample t Test, the 2- tailed significance value of 0.000 is less than 0.005, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test with an average value of -38.00000. This shows that there is a significant effect on the difference in the treatment given to each variable.

Abstract

This studied discusses the effect of using the Chain Writing method on the write skills of class VII students of SMPN 03 Kamal and the background is that there are students who are less skilled at write a text, so that students are gift a method that can increase the creativity of write texts. Besides that, the purpose of this studied was to find out whether the Chain Writing method had a significant difference or not on students' writing skills. In this study, researcher used a type of quantitative research that is experimental on the effect of using the Chain Writing method on improving the skills of writing descriptive text in Class VII students of SMPN 03 Kamal with a total of 20 students. This study collected data used a pre-test to determine students' write skills before being given treatment and a post-test to determine students' write skills after being given treatment. And used a random technique, namely taking students at random, namely class VII A students from four classes. Based on the results of the research is the method used by students of class VII is significant, then the method is efficient or good for learning, especially learning English. The results were obtained from 3.039 > 4.41, with pre-test and post-test scores increasing from 62.5000 to 73.5000. So it was concluded that students could increase their creativity or write skills by used the Chain Writing method for learning English.

Abstract

The Kampus Mengajar program is one of the government programs in which college students from all over Indonesia can participate. The placement of the Kampus Mengajar program is in marginal schools that are lagging in elementary and junior high schools. Students are expected to serve in these schools as help staff. Therefore, self-efficacy is important to support their ability to complete their assignments. This study aimed to determine students’ self-efficacy in the Kampus Mengajar program in English Department STKIP PGRI Jombang. This study adapted the three dimensions of self-efficacy from Bandura's theory, namely the level dimension, generalization dimension, and strength dimension. The respondents of this study were students majoring in English from STKIP PGRI Jombang who took part in the Kampus Mengajar program batch 3. There are 8 of them and they take part in the Kampus Mengajar program in semester 5. A qualitative case study was used in this research. The research instruments are questionnaires and interviews to get accurate results. The type of questionnaire used was a closed-ended questionnaire and the results were strengthened by the interview process. The results show that the respondents have self-efficacy to carry out the assignment in the Kampus Mengajar placement school program.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between students' motivation in learning English and their speaking proficiency at Shafta Senior High School. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative data from questionnaires and qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews to explore how both intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors influence speaking skills. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship, highlighting the crucial role of motivation in enhancing speaking proficiency. The study offers practical implications for educators, including strategies to foster motivation, encourage regular practice, and provide supportive feedback. Recommendations for future research include expanding the sample size, exploring additional influencing factors, and conducting longitudinal studies.
