Abstract

Politeness phenomenon is universal in language usage, which has been so long approached by people from the distinctive perspectives of cultures. With the advance of intercultural communication politeness can no longer be confined to the study of either the different culture, and the revaluation of politeness with the amendment of the principles for intercultural communication must be implemented for the sake of effcacious interaction. This research is conducted using descriptive qualitative method based on the theory known as Politeness Principles. The data are in form of utterances used by the characters in FREEDOM WRITERS movie. The data analysis reveals some finding covering the formulated research question

Abstract

Discourse used in linguistics refers to any passage, spoken or written. As the news about “Mirna dan Jessica case” on Jakarta Post. Jakarta Post in one of the News Paper that published in Print out and on-line. In this research the researcher take the data from online news at July 2016. A text in the news include on a passage of discourse which is coherent in these two regards: it is coherent with respect to the context of situation and therefore consistent in register; and it is coherent with respect to itself, and therefore cohesion. This research analyzes the cohesion on the Mirna and Jessica case in Jakarta Post used descriptive design with qualitative method through Discourse approach. The result of the research on grammatical cohesion used in Jakarta post in the first news, are: promonimal reference “her, their, his, and they”, the demonstrative reference “the and that”, Comparative Reference “as”, Cataphoric Reference “another”, Additive Conjunction “and”. For the second news are: Pronominal Reference “Her, she, you, they, their”, Demonstrative Reference “the”, Additive Conjunction “both, and”, Adversative Conjunction “but”

Abstract

YouTube is one of the online media used by the people to transfer idea or information. The researcher investigated the use of YouTube which consisted of Madura local Arts in teaching speaking. The philosophy of Madura Traditional dancing were used as the materials in speaking class. The philosophy consists of two aspects, those are: the history of the dancing and the moment held the performances. These things are new for the second semester. There was one class in second semester. The researcher used true-experimental and applied simple random sampling for 66 students into two groups. The way of researcher applied that sampling technique is through students’ attendance list number (even and odd number). The odd number was formed to be a new group. The researcher decided the odd number group as control group and the rest (even number) was an experimental group by throwing the coin. They could listen and watch the videos through YouTube. And the following step was noting the speaking log as the instrument to note what have they watched, made summary and retell. After getting treatment for 3 weeks, the posttest has been analyzed by using SPSS showed that was Ho has been rejected and H1 was accepted. In other words, there was positive effect from using YouTube which consisted of Madura Local Art toward the students’ speaking skill. After conducting pre and posttest, it shown that Madura Local art-Based YouTube was effective to build the students’ speaking skill and it is recommend for further researchers to attempt other Traditional Local Art-Based YouTube

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the Impact of Wordlist Media on Vocabulary Mastery for the students of Junior High School in Madura with the particular focus of finding new vocabularies in narrative text. This Quasi-Experimental research was implemented to examine. The Junior High School students in Madura using Wordlist Media. The results from this manipulation showed that the students through wordlist media were higher than those who were not using wordlist media. It proved that wordlist media was effective towards the students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Writing is one of the basic skills of the English language. It is usually considered one of the most difficulty skill than other skills of foreign language students. Even native speakers feel difficulty in showing good command of writing. In writing, the students need to acquire those first ideas to make sure what they want to write. They have to write about what they think in their mind and state it on paper by using the correct rules. In this research researcher use problem based learning method in teaching writing. The objective of this research to investigate the influence of problem based learning on the studnts’ writing skill in hortatory exposition text at eleventh grade of SMA Saidiyah Arosbaya. In conducting data, the researcher used quasi- experimental design. The population of this research was eleventh grade of SMA Saidiyah Arosbaya and sample were XI IPS 1 as experimental class and XI IPS 2 as control class. The result of this research based on the analysis data of Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) test from SPSS 17.0, the result of ANCOVA test from p-value was 0.035. It was less than the level of significant (0,05). If p-value<from the level of significant (0,05). It showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha)was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected.

Abstract

Writing involves textual tasks like formulating and structuring ideas into sentences, encompassing idea creation, organization, drafting, and revision. In this context, the utilization of scrapbooks as a teaching aid for writing has yielded positive results, introducing a novel method for writing instruction. This practice not only improves students' recount text abilities but also highlights the versatility of scrapbooks in catering to multiple skills, as revealed by the interview results—spanning both writing and speaking instruction. Embracing scrapbooks in education holds the potential to foster holistic language development and effective communication skills, thereby enriching the learning experience across various linguistic domains. In this research, the researcher used qualitative with case studied approach.

Abstract

Fokus artikel ini adalah lembaga keuangan dan bank. Lembaga Keuangan Mikro Syariah memainkan peran penting dalam mendukung usaha kecil dan menengah, terutama dalam hal menyediakan dana yang mereka butuhkan untuk mengembangkan perusahaan mereka dan memasuki pasar baru sehingga secara signifikan meningkatkan perekonomian negara. Kemampuan organisasi keuangan mikro syariah untuk menghadapi kemerosotan ekonomi saat ini atau mungkin memperbaikinya dapat diuji. UMKM merupakan badan usaha yang dalam jangka panjang sangat bergantung pada LKMS untuk mensejahterakan perekonomian Indonesia. Tidak disangka LKMS mendapat banyak perhatian; namun demikian, fokus tersebut belum cukup menjawab permasalahan inti yang dihadapi LKMS untuk benar-benar membangun dan memperluas lembaga keuangan bagi UMKM, khususnya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelayakan bisnis pada usaha UMKM petis ikan tongkol di Desa Sepulu ditinjau dari aspek pemasaran. Metode yang Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dekskriptif. metode pengumpulan data yang berbeda yaitu wawancara, observasi langsung, dan tinjauan pustaka sebelumnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produk petis ikan tongkol memiliki potensi pasar yang luas baik di tingkat lokal maupun regional karena cita rasa yang khas dan kualitas produk yang tinggi. Strategi pemasaran yang efektif, seperti penjualan langsung (personal selling), promosi melalui media sosial, dan partisipasi dalam pameran lokal, telah meningkatkan visibilitas dan daya tarik produk. Tingkat kepuasan pelanggan yang tinggi berkontribusi pada loyalitas dan rekomendasi dari mulut ke mulut (word of mouth). Namun, penetapan harga yang kompetitif dan adaptasi terhadap preferensi konsumen tetap menjadi tantangan yang harus dihadapi. Secara keseluruhan, dari aspek pemasaran, usaha petis ikan tongkol di Desa Sepulu menunjukkan kelayakan yang baik dan memiliki prospek untuk terus berkembang. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar usaha terus melakukan evaluasi dan penyesuaian strategi pemasaran untuk tetap kompetitif di pasar yang dinamis.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Bangkalan Regency Government in optimizing the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Islamic financial institutions in the region. Given that MSMEs contribute significantly to the local economy, this study explores government policies and programs that support MSME development and how Islamic financial institutions can play a strategic role. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach through data collection through literature studies and documentation studies. The results obtained from the study indicate that government policy support, such as the provision of capital assistance and training, as well as collaboration with Islamic financial institutions, has increased financing accessibility and strengthened the capacity of MSMEs. However, challenges such as lack of financial literacy and limited infrastructure still need to be addressed. This study recommends increasing synergy between the government, MSMEs, and Islamic financial institutions to achieve optimal and sustainable performance in Bangkalan Regency.

Abstract

This study examines the crisis in teacher quality in the disruption era, caused by weak recruitment and selection systems that remain administrative, subjective, and lack transparency. The research aims to analyze the need for transforming recruitment and selection strategies toward a competency- and technology-based model as a solution to improve educational quality. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study at MTs YPI Darul Huda Belitang OKU Timur. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. Data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that implementing competency- and technology-based recruitment systems, such as e-recruitment and online assessment, enhances objectivity, transparency, and efficiency in the selection process. This transformation strengthens teacher professionalism and improves the quality of educational institutions to become more adaptive to the challenges of the digital era.
