Acupuncture therapy can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Hypertension generally occurs in the elderly, but some studies show that hypertension can appear since adolescence. The method used is Quasi Experimental Design with a pretest-posttest two-group design. The sample used was 32 research subjects. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used was the Paired T-test. This research was conducted in Sanan Village, Girimarto, Wonogiri Regency, in February-March 2024. From the hypothesis test above using the Paired T-Test test because the research data was normally distributed and homogeneous. The results showed that for the acupuncture therapy Group, the p-value<0.001, which means the p-value <0.05, so Ha is accepted and H₀ is rejected. In the acupuncture therapy Group, p<0.001, which means the p-value <0.050, the results show that electroacupuncture is more effective on blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Electro-acupuncture therapy is effective for high blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Sanan Village Girimarto Wonogiri.

Abstract

Low back pain is a musculoskeletal disorder that affects the muscles, bones, joints, and connective tissues, potentially impairing function and reducing quality of life. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of acupuncture therapy with red ginger steeping on pain scale reduction and functional improvement in patients with low back pain. A quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach was used, involving 32 participants selected through total sampling at the Jakarta Hajj Dormitory from October 2023 to May 2024. Participants were divided into two groups: one receiving acupuncture therapy alone, and the other receiving a combination of acupuncture and red ginger steeping. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test yielded a p=0.010, indicating a significant improvement in pain scale and Back Pain Functional Scale (BPFS) scores in both groups after the intervention. The findings suggest that the combination of acupuncture and red ginger steeping is effective in reducing pain and enhancing functional ability in patients with low back pain.

Abstract

Gastric pain is a symptom felt as heartburn caused by inflammation of the gastric mucosa. Electroacupuncture and moxibustion therapy are therapeutic methods that have significant results in reducing gastric pain. This study aimed to determine the effect and difference of electroacupuncture therapy ST 36, ST 25, ST 21, CV 12 with electroacupuncture at points ST 36, ST 25, ST 21, CV 12 and CV 8 moxibustion on cases of gastric pain in Kutoharjo Village. Quasi-experimental research with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. A sample of 30 subjects was divided into 2 groups given electro-acupuncture therapy and electroacupuncture therapy combined with moxibustion. Pain scale was measured using Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after intervention. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon tests. The results showed a significant decrease in the NRS pain scale after intervention in both groups (p<0.050). The Mann-Whitney test showed a significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.009), with the electroacupuncture group with CV 8 moxibustion showing a more significant reduction in pain than the electroacupuncture group. Wilcoxon test showed a significant reduction in pain scale in both groups (p<0.001). This study shows that electroacupuncture with CV 8 moxibustion is more effective than electroacupuncture in reducing the gastric pain scale. These results show a significant value, which can be taken into consideration to reduce gastric pain.

Abstract

The incidence of overweight in adults is increasing over time. Being overweight is a body condition that results in excessive fat mass. Overweight is caused by many factors, including age, physical activity, gender, hormones, genetics, and environment. Acupuncture therapy can be used as a support for weight loss efforts because acupuncture can affect the central nervous system and activate specific areas in the brain. This study aims to determine the effect of ear and body acupuncture therapy on reducing waist circumference and body mass index in overweight cases at the Rinjani Sragen Gymnastics Studio. This study used a quantitative method of research using a “Quasi-Experimental” research design. The study sample was 45 people who were divided into 3 treatment groups, namely group I ear acupuncture therapy, group II ear and body acupuncture therapy, and group III body acupuncture therapy. The study began in January to March 2025 and was conducted at the Rinjani Sragen Gymnastics Studio. One-way ANOVA test analysis on waist circumference has a significant value of ρ of 0.017 (ρ <0.050) and for body mass index, p=0.004 (ρ <0.050), which means that ear and body acupuncture therapy affects reducing waist circumference and body mass index in overweight cases.
