Abstract

Introduction: Wounds are still a public health problem. Various ways are done by humans to treat wounds such as using modern medicine and traditional medicine, one of the traditional medicines to treat wounds is aloe vera gel (aloe vera), where aloe vera gel is already available in packaged form. Human knowledge is based on curiosity, effort in finding out and from experience. Attitude is an action but is a predisposition to the action of a behavior. Purpose: To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of 2019s Class Batch Students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara regarding to Wound Healing Given Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe Vera). Methods: This research uses a descriptive analytic method using a cross sectional approach that uses a questionnaire as a research instrument. The sample used was 2019s class batch UMSUs Medical Students with consecutive sampling technique. Results: Research shows that the level of knowledge of medical students in the Class of 2019 has a good category of 62 respondents (91.0%), in the sufficient category as many as 3 respondents (4.5%) and in the less category as many as 3 respondents (4.5%), based on the attitude category positive as many as 61 respondents (91.0%) and negative category as many as 6 respondents (9.0%). Conclusion: On average, the 2019s class batch students of UMSUs Faculty of Medicine have good knowledge and positive attitudes towards aloe vera gel with wound healing.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension increases blood pressure that can cause complications such as stroke and coronary heart disease. Hypertension is the third leading cause of death in Indonesia for all ages, after stroke and tuberculosis. A patient's non-compliance with antihypertensive drugs is one of the significant factors in therapy failure. Basic Health Research (RISKESDAS) in 2007 reported the prevalence of hypertension in the population aged 18 years and above reached 31.7% and those taking antihypertensive drugs only 0.4%. The interaction of various factors also plays a role in influencing the compliance of hypertension treatment. Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship of knowledge with medication compliance in hypertensive patients at Sukaramai Medan Health Center. Method: Analytical research, with across-sectional design, i.e., by takingindependentvariable data (knowledge) and dependent variables (Medication Compliance) simultaneously without follow-up.The population of this study is people with hypertension in Sukaramai Medan Health Center. Bivariate analysis to look at the relationship between knowledge and Medication Compliance. The statistical test used is Chi-Square with a value of p 0.05 showing a meaningful statistical test result. Result: Compliance with hypertension treatment in respondents with a high level of knowledge of 18 respondents (56.2%) was non-compliant, and 14 respondents (43.8%) obeyed. While respondents with a low level of knowledge of 25 respondents (78.1%) were non-compliant, and seven respondents (21.9%) obeyed.Chi-Squareanalysis results obtained value p = 0.062 (p0.05). Conclusion: There is no relationship between knowledge level and medication compliance in hypertensive patients at Sukaramai Medan Heal

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Perirenal abscess is a rare disease, often leading to morbidity and mortality due to delay in diagnosis and inadequate treatment. Cases of perirenal abscess in RSUD Soetomo often have been going on for a long time and are severe.AIM: The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of patients with perirenal abscess and their management.MATERIAL AND METHODS: This research is a descriptive retrospective study. Characteristics of patients with perirenal abscess both clinical, laboratory, and management obtained from medical records at RSUD dr. Soetomo Surabaya during the period 2011-2016 and analyzed using SPSS 20.0.RESULTS: There were 38 patients with perirenal abscess with the mean age was 46.21 11.74 years. Most of the abscesses were mixed (peri-pararenal) namely 21 patients (55.2%), 15 patients (39.5%) perirenal abscess and 2 patients (5.3%) pararenal abscess. The most risk factors for perirenal abscess were 17 patients (44.7%) with kidney/ureter stones and 15 patients (39.5%) with diabetes. The most frequent clinical symptoms were low back/abdominal pain in 38 patients (100%), mass in the waist/lower abdomen in 36 patients (94.7%) and fever in 28 patients (73.7%), CVA tenderness in 28 patients (73, 7%), and nausea/vomiting in 12 patients (31.6%). From the laboratory, 29 patients (76.3%) were anemic, 28 patients (73.7%) had hypoalbuminemia, and 32 patients (84.2%) had leukocytosis. Management in the form of abscess drainage, namely 35 patients (92.1%) underwent open drainage surgery, 3 patients (7.9%) underwent open drainage surgery and nephrectomy.CONCLUSION: Perirenal abscess has non-specific clinical signs and symptoms is sometimes difficult to make a diagnosis. Patients with low back/abdominal pain with a lump in the waist and fever lasting more than 5 days may suggest a perirenal abscess and need further diagnostics. Abscess drainage is the best option for the treatment of perirenal abscesses.
