Abstract

Abstract

Transportation in kupang city has a crucial role in the movement of people and goods using public transportation services. Salasatu services kupang city public transportation that is commonly used is (bemo). The number of accidents in kupang city is still high, based on data from bps (central statistics agency) east nusa tenggara province, over the last 4 years there have been 1,515 minor injuries, 292 serious injuries, and 157 who died. So, it is necessary to know by the people about the location of areas that are very prone to accidents. And it is expected to be able to be reduced, after knowing the vulnerable area. With the analysis method of traffic accident-prone areas, accident-prone areas (blacksite) or accident-prone areas (blackspot) can be known. Calculation in the type of collector road based on the calculation of the method of accident-prone areas known areas or areas are very vulnerable, vulnerable & quite vulnerable and made a map with the application (qgis).

Abstract

Currently, public transportation is increasingly developing. At first only ordinary public transport was used. However, there are currently many types of online public transportation. This affects people's use of public transportation, both online. The aim of this research is to provide information and knowledge to the public regarding the comparison of Kupang City residents' satisfaction with the use of online public transportation with traditional public transportation using quantitative research methods through questionnaires and processing. information on survey results using SPSS. From the research results obtained, the people of Kupang City feel more satisfied using online transportation compared to conventional public transportation. This is shown by the average satisfaction of people using online public transportation which is higher than traditional public transportation in nine aspects which are the standard for assessing community satisfaction.

Abstract

The procurement process remains a critical component in determining the success of construction projects, especially in public institutions. This study evaluates the impact of risks associated with procurement processes on the cost performance of building projects in public tertiary education institutions in Ondo State, Nigeria. Data were gathered from 63 construction projects using structured questionnaires and a pro forma. Analytical tools employed include frequency, mean item score, Paired-Samples T-Test, Shapiro-Wilk Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, and Cronbach's Alpha. Results revealed a statistically significant difference between initial and final project costs, with major procurement risks identified at the planning, specification, and bid evaluation stages. The study recommends stricter attention to procurement planning and risk assessment to improve cost performance in public building projects.

Abstract

Cassava (Manihot esculenta) remains a key staple crop in Nigeria, yet its post-harvest processing continues to face inefficiencies due to manual methods. This study aimed to design, fabricate, and evaluate the performance of a cassava mash pulverizing-cum-sieving machine to address issues of human drudgery, low throughput, and contamination. The machine comprises a hopper, pulverizing chamber, rotary sieve, electric motor, and support frame. Operational testing was carried out at three speeds: 400, 500, and 600 rpm. Results indicated improved sifting efficiency and capacity, with design parameters tailored for durability, portability, and simplicity. This dual-purpose machine demonstrates potential for local cassava processors in Nigeria to enhance productivity and product quality.

Abstract

Biomass pelletizing technology is increasingly recognized as a sustainable solution to address global energy demands, waste management challenges, and rural energy poverty. This review presents a comprehensive analysis of biomass pelletizing technology through the lens of a recent research study that involved the design, fabrication, and performance evaluation of an indigenous biomass pelletizing machine in Nigeria. The paper discusses the global relevance of biomass as an energy source, the significance of agricultural waste valorization, the mechanical design principles behind pelletizing equipment, and the technical outcomes of a locally built machine. Key findings revealed an average pelleting capacity of 10.62 kg/hr and an efficiency of 64.8%, with proximate and ultimate analyses supporting the suitability of agricultural waste materials for fuel pellets. The review concludes by affirming the value of biomass pelletizers in fostering sustainable rural development and energy security.

Abstract

In architecture, a concept serves as the fundamental idea that guides the entire design process—integrating function, form, symbolism, and cultural context. This study examines how such a concept is manifested as a form of architectural acculturation in the Babah Alun Desari Mosque, Cilandak, a contemporary Indonesian mosque that harmoniously blends Islamic spatial values with Chinese aesthetic traditions. The research aims to identify and analyze how the architectural concept of acculturation is implemented through the mosque’s visual composition, ornamentation, and spatial arrangement. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through literature review and case study methods, involving visual observation, documentation, and theoretical analysis related to architectural concepts and cultural synthesis. The findings of this study reveal that the curved roof crowned with a dome, the presence of dragon and floral ornaments, and the open, inclusive spatial configuration represent tangible manifestations of architectural acculturation. From a distance, Chinese architectural identity appears more dominant, while Islamic character becomes more evident upon approaching the prayer hall. Thus, the Babah Alun Desari Mosque stands as a manifestation of architectural acculturation, harmonizing Eastern aesthetics with Islamic spirituality within Indonesia’s multicultural urban context.
