Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of adolescents' daily lives and is regarded as a crucial aspect of their social environment. Due to its pervasive use, social media holds great potential as an educational platform, particularly for increasing awareness and knowledge of mental health. Mental health literacy among adolescents is essential to enable early detection of psychological problems and encourage timely help-seeking behavior. This study aimed to examine the effect of social media as an educational tool on improving adolescents’ knowledge of mental health. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was employed, involving 30 adolescent participants selected through purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of educational content on mental health delivered over 14 days via WhatsApp, TikTok and Instagram. A structured knowledge questionnaire was administered before and after the intervention to measure changes in understanding. Data analysis using paired sample t-test revealed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge scores from a pretest mean of 63.3 to a posttest mean of 82.7 (p = 0.000). The results suggest that mental health education delivered through social media is effective in enhancing adolescents' knowledge. Therefore, social media can serve as a strategic, accessible, and engaging platform for mental health education and promotion targeted at youth. Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that hampers children’s growth and development. According to the 2022 Indonesia Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the national stunting prevalence was 21.6%. In 2023, Koto Tangah recorded the highest stunting rate in Padang at 13.83%. Although premarital education has been provided through BP4 (Badan, Penasihat, Pembinaan, dan Pelestarian Perkawinan) activities at the KUA, stunting prevention has not yet become a primary topic. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach.Data were collected through in depth interviews and observation. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study involved 15 informants, 9 prospective couple as primary informants, 1 head of KUA as a key informant, and 4 supporting informants consisting of the program manager for marriage guidance, nutrition officer, design expert, and language expert. The findings indicate that prospective couple have limited knowledge about stunting. Most of them are unaware of the importance of stunting prevention starting before pregnancy due to minimal exposure to relevant information. Existing preventive efforts are still limited to counseling for those with anemia. To address this need, an analysis was conducted using the P-Process approach to develop the SEHATI module as an educational medium suited to the target audience. The SEHATI module has been tested on informants and is considered appropriate for the target characteristics. It is recommended to integrate this module into BP4 counseling materials and disseminate it through KUA and health facilities as a self-education tool for prospective couple.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has long-term impacts on children’s physical growth and cognitive development. In Kelurahan Galur, Central Jakarta, stunting remains one of the top ten priority health issues, indicating that its prevention requires not only medical approaches but also health promotion strategies emphasizing community empowerment and behavior change. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with stunting among children under five, focusing on maternal knowledge, maternal attitudes toward parenting, environmental sanitation, family support, and the role of health workers. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design and proportional random sampling technique was employed, while data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through chi-square tests. The results showed significant associations between maternal knowledge, maternal attitudes, environmental sanitation, and family support with the risk of stunting, whereas the role of health workers did not demonstrate a significant relationship. These findings highlight that health promotion–related factors play a crucial role in preventing stunting. Therefore, interventions directed at improving maternal knowledge, changing maternal attitudes, enhancing environmental sanitation, strengthening family support, and optimizing the role of health workers are essential to reduce the prevalence of stunting in Kelurahan Galur.

Abstract

Background: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) remains one of the major public health problems in Indonesia. In Padang City, ARI ranks first among the most prevalent diseases, with a proportion of 25.7%. Based on the report from Pasar Ambacang Public Health Centerduring the period of January–November 2024, there were 3,092 recorded cases of ARI. The high incidence is partly due to the lack of public knowledge regarding ARI prevention efforts. Objective: This study aimed to determine the differences in community knowledge and attitudes regarding ARI prevention efforts using the Emo-Demo method. Methods: This study employed a mixed-method design. The qualitative approach used an exploratory case study design with in-depth interviews involving community members, the ARI program manager, a design expert, an Emo-Demo expert, and a linguist. The quantitative approach applied a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The study was conducted in Pasar Ambacang Sub-district from November 2024 to May 2025, with a total sample of 63 respondents. Results: The findings indicated an improvement in community knowledge after the Emo-Demo intervention. The average knowledge score increased from 4.33 before the intervention to 8.00 afterward.
