Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has sparked new possibilities for enhancing language acquisition; however, its rapid advancement poses challenges when not harmonized with cognitive and psychological readiness. This study investigates how psycholinguistic principles, when paired with AI tools, can foster the development of Arabic language instinct among advanced learners. The research focuses on 50 participants from Pondok Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah, utilizing a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative data collection with qualitative classroom observations and interviews. The results show significant linguistic improvements: grammar proficiency increased from 68% to 85%, vocabulary retention improved by 40%, and learners’ speaking confidence rose by 30%. A critical finding of this study is the role of dzauq—a form of linguistic and cultural intuition—in enhancing language depth and sensitivity. AI-based applications, such as adaptive feedback systems and speech simulators, proved effective in improving learner engagement, responsiveness, and self-correction capabilities. Nonetheless, the tools still face limitations, especially in accurately capturing dialectal variety and cultural semantics inherent in Arabic. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on language pedagogy and artificial intelligence by proposing a model that integrates psycholinguistic insight with AI-enabled learning. It highlights the necessity of balancing technological advancement with human-centered strategies rooted in linguistic identity and cultural authenticity. Ultimately, the study offers a transformative framework for Arabic language education that prioritizes both intuitive fluency and ethical, context-aware technology integration.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in Arabic language processing, focusing on both its developmental potential and the challenges that threaten the language’s integrity and identity. Despite progress in natural language processing (NLP), the Arabic language still faces substantial barriers due to its intricate grammatical rules and semantic depth, which make it more complex to integrate into AI systems compared to other languages. In addition to technical obstacles, the application of AI raises ethical concerns—particularly around preserving the authenticity of Arabic and protecting intellectual property. Issues such as uncredited AI-generated content and reduced human involvement in language formulation may compromise the credibility and originality of information. The study aims to offer future-oriented solutions that address these ethical challenges while promoting a balanced approach between leveraging AI technologies and safeguarding the linguistic heritage of Arabic. Adopting a qualitative, literature-based methodology with a focus on ethical, linguistic, and technological analysis, the research underscores the urgent need for ethical and regulatory frameworks to guide AI implementation in this domain. The findings highlight the importance of continuous investment in research and development to support Arabic’s sustainable integration into AI-driven platforms. As a contribution, the study provides a conceptual foundation for responsible innovation, advocating for policies that protect the identity of the Arabic language while enabling its evolution within the digital age

Abstract

The main issue in Qur'anic memorization (tahfizh) education today is how to present a method that is not only effective but also engaging and practical for students. At MTs Hidayatul Muta’allimin Wonoayu, Sidoarjo—established in 2018—an innovative approach has been introduced: using Arabic poetry (أسلوب الشعر) as a method to support students in memorizing the Qur'an. This study investigates how the poetry method is implemented in the Qur'an memorization learning process and identifies the supporting and inhibiting factors in its application. The objective of this research is to describe the implementation of the poetry method in Qur’anic memorization at MTs Hidayatul Muta’allimin and to analyze the factors that facilitate or hinder its success. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive method, using observation, interviews with tahfizh teachers, and documentation as data collection techniques. The results indicate that the poetry method significantly helps students recall the beginning of verses (بداية الآية) by using rhythmic Arabic phrases that act as mnemonic aids. Students find it easier to memorize due to the structured and meaningful poetic cues. However, one of the obstacles identified is the double memorization burden: students must first memorize the Arabic Poem before the actual Qur’anic verse, which may slow down the process for some. This study contributes an innovative and contextual approach to Qur’anic learning by integrating elements of Arabic literature (الأدب العربي) into the memorization process. It demonstrates that creative strategies such as poetry can make religious learning more effective, enjoyable, and adapted to students’ cognitive development

Abstract

Speaking skills (maharah al-kalam) in Arabic are an essential competency for students in the Arabic Language Education Study Program. However, field observations indicate a lack of contextual and thematic teaching materials, particularly those that integrate Islamic scholarly content such as fiqh. One important yet underrepresented theme in Arabic teaching materials is fiqh al-dayn (Islamic jurisprudence on debt), which holds high relevance in students’ social and economic lives. This study aims to develop thematic Arabic speaking materials based on fiqh al-dayn, tailored to the needs and characteristics of students in the Arabic Language Education Program, specifically at STAI Darul Ulum Banyuanyar. The research employed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), comprising: (1) analyzing student needs; (2) designing thematic learning materials; (3) developing materials based on the design; (4) implementing the materials in classroom settings; and (5) evaluating their effectiveness. The results indicate that the developed materials significantly improved students’ speaking abilities, as reflected in the comparison between pre-test and post-test scores. While some students still required additional support, the majority showed meaningful improvement in their speaking performance. The contribution of this study lies not only in the development of Arabic teaching materials but also in reinforcing the integration between language instruction and Islamic jurisprudence content within the context of Islamic higher education. This integration supports both linguistic and religious competencies in a holistic and relevant manner

Abstract

Pesantren as an Islamic educational institution has an important role in instilling Islamic and moral values to students. However, in practice there are challenges related to the perception that memorizing the Alfiyah book is merely an obligation without understanding and implementing the moral values contained therein. As a result, the purpose of pesantren education in shaping the character and morals of students is less than optimal. This study aims to reveal the influence of memorizing the Alfiyah book on the practice of reading yellow books as well as the process of internalizing moral values among students at Mahad Aly Annur II Al-Murtadlo, Malang. The research method used is qualitative with a field study approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with several informants, and documentation related to Alfiyah memorization learning activities. Data triangulation techniques were also applied to ensure the validity and validity of the research data. Data analysis was carried out using a descriptive qualitative method to describe the impact of memorization on the ability to read books and the formation of students' moral character. The results of the study indicate that memorizing Alfiyah not only improves the academic ability of students in reading yellow books, but also contributes significantly to the formation of moral attitudes such as humility, respect for teachers, sincerity, fortitude, and social empathy. This study provides recommendations for developing more applicable memorization learning methods so that it can improve the integration between knowledge and morality in Islamic boarding school education
