Abstract

Vocabulary (mufrodat) mastery is an essential component in Arabic language learning at the madrasah ibtidaiyah level. However, classroom observations indicate that students’ vocabulary mastery remains low due to the limited availability of attractive and student-centered teaching materials. This study aims to develop booklet-based teaching materials that are valid, practical, and effective in improving the vocabulary mastery of fifth-grade students at MIN 3 Nagan Raya. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects were fifth-grade students of MIN 3 Nagan Raya. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and pretest–posttest assessments. The results of expert validation showed that the material validity reached 91.25% and media validity reached 93.75%, both categorized as very valid. The field trial results indicated positive responses from teachers and students, with an average score of 83.5% categorized as very good. Furthermore, the students’ average vocabulary mastery score increased from 62.4 in the pretest to 82.6 in the posttest. These findings indicate that the developed booklet-based teaching materials are valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ Arabic vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students in finding the main idea of a paragraph, especially in determining the main idea based on its location. Students still have difficulty distinguishing main ideas and supporting ideas in reading. This study aims to improve students' ability in finding the main idea of a paragraph through the application of the inquiry learning model with paragraph card envelope media, as well as to determine the improvement in students' reading comprehension skills after the application of the model. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, with stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The subjects of the study were 18 fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 61 Banda Aceh in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data collection instruments included teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, and reading comprehension tests. The results showed that teacher activity increased from 67.5% in cycle I (good category) to 88.75% in cycle II (very good category). Student activity also increased from 65.6% in cycle I (sufficient category) to 85.93% in cycle II (very good category). In addition, students' ability to find the main idea increased significantly, from 44.4% in cycle I (sufficient category) to 83.3% in cycle II (very good category). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of the inquiry learning model with paragraph card envelope media is effective in improving the ability of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 61 Banda Aceh in finding the main idea of a paragraph, both based on its location and in distinguishing the main idea and supporting ideas.

Abstract

Many elementary school pupils face emotional, social, and behavioral challenges that can negatively affect their academic performance and overall development. Despite this, counseling services are often underutilized or absent in early education, leaving gaps in pupils’ social-emotional support. The study adopted a descriptive survey design and was conducted among teachers and professional counsellors in Anambra State. Data were collected electronically using Google Form from 85 respondents categorized by years of experience. A structured questionnaire measured counseling integration, its impact on pupils’ socio emotional development, and its educational implications. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and ANOVA at 0.05 significance level. Eighty-five respondents participated, with most having less than five years of experience (35.3%), followed by 15 to 25 years (30.6%). Findings showed strong agreement that counseling was integrated through structured activities, collaboration, timetable inclusion, and management support, though classroom integration of guidance topics was weaker. Integrated counseling positively influenced pupils’ emotional stability, relationships, and participation, though its effect on behavioral reduction was modest. Respondents also agreed that counseling strengthened discipline and overall school performance. ANOVA results revealed significant differences based on years of experience across all three hypotheses, leading to rejection of the null hypotheses. The study concludes that policymakers, educators, and school administrators must prioritize counseling integration to cultivate emotionally resilient, socially competent, and academically motivated pupils, thereby laying a firm foundation for lifelong learning.
