Abstract

Background: Mobile applications are now a solution to the challenges of monitoring children's growth and development, helping in understanding the emotional and behavioural aspects of children. However, a mobile application-based questionnaire management system for physiotherapy is still not available, therefore, the development of the "ASQ: SE-3" application is needed. This application is expected to help physiotherapy students screen children's growth and development and identify problems early. Methodology: The community service carried out by the service team was carried out through several stages, namely the observation stage, to the evaluation stage using the function test technique with an assessment in descriptive form. This technique is carried out to determine whether there is a difference between the product and its function so that an evaluation can be made. The population of this community service is physiotherapy students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Results: In the evaluation results provided by the student service team revealed that the ASQ: SE-3 Application is good enough, maybe a little more promoted so that the tool can be known by many people and is useful in addition to physiotherapy teaching materials. Conclusion: The ASQ:SE-3 application proved to be useful as a tool to monitor children's growth and development as an innovative physiotherapy teaching material. However, challenges faced in its use include the possibility of technical errors and limited features that need to be improved to make it easier to use.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious issue affecting children's growth and development, caused by various factors such as chronic malnutrition, infection, and lack of parental knowledge. Based on field observation in Wironanggan Village, Sukoharjo, it was found that 15 children were experiencing stunting in 2024. This community service program aimed to increase parental awareness and knowledge about stunting through a healthy baby competition method combined with nutritional education. The implementation method included observation, preparation, execution, and evaluation stages. The event was held at Anggrek Posyandu, involving 30 children aged 1–3 years and their parents. Nutritional status was assessed through body weight, height, mid-upper arm circumference, and head circumference measurements, followed by educational sessions using leaflets and an interactive lecture method. Results showed an increase in parental enthusiasm and knowledge after the activity. Moreover, the healthy baby competition successfully motivated parents to strive for better child development outcomes. The program concluded with the distribution of supplementary foods (PMT), such as fruits and milk, supporting daily nutritional needs. This activity proved the effectiveness of an educational and participatory approach in tackling stunting at the village level.

Abstract

Environmental sanitation is critical for public health as it affects the spread of diseases such as diarrhea, dengue, and respiratory infections. Poor sanitation arises from issues like inadequate access to clean water, insufficient waste disposal systems, and low public awareness. In Indragiri Hilir Regency, despite health programs, issues such as unsafe drinking water, inadequate latrines, and challenges in implementing Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) persist. This highlights problems in program execution, including limited resources and community involvement. The community service project was conducted in partnership with Pulau Kijang Health Center. It involved field data collection, interviews, and document review to assess sanitation progress. The monitoring focused on key indicators such as access to safe drinking water, healthy latrines, and waste management. The project concluded with training health staff and local cadres on sanitation evaluation based on data analysis. Initial assessments revealed that previous monitoring efforts were ineffective due to outdated data and a lack of integration. The approach included training for health workers and local cadres on community-based sanitation monitoring, developing a simple digital data recording system, and conducting public education campaigns. The introduction of the digital system improved data organization, and public education campaigns increased community involvement in reporting sanitation issues. Public participation rose significantly, leading to more accurate sanitation data and better monitoring techniques. The program successfully addressed issues such as outdated data and limited human resources through a comprehensive approach. The introduction of digital data systems and community education improved the quality and accessibility of sanitation data. This led to greater community participation and enhanced the capacity of health personnel. The project demonstrates the value of a collaborative, data-driven approach for sustainable improvements in public health and sanitation.

Abstract

Manjung Village, Wonogiri, has been facing serious challenges in waste management with increasing levels of environmental pollution due to a lack of knowledge of effective waste management. Existing organic waste has not been managed properly, resulting in negative impacts on public health and the environment and has no economic value. This activity aims to provide training to partners in managing organic waste in Manjung Village, Wonogiri District, into economically valuable organic fertilizer products. The partner of this activity is the “Manjung Berkah Waste Bank Group” in Manjung Village, Wonogiri District, Wonogiri Regency. Manjung Berkah Waste Bank was used as an activity partner because: (1) it already has waste management management, (2) existing human resources have not been able to manage organic waste optimally, and (3) the partner is one of the Waste Bank pilot institutions that is still active in Wonogiri Regency. The methods used include socialization, mentoring, and training activities. The results of this activity showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills, as evidenced by the comparison of pre-test and post-test results. The increase showed that the training was effective. In addition, the partners also managed to produce organic fertilizer from previously unutilized waste. This activity not only increases environmental awareness but also opens up new economic opportunities for the community.

Abstract

Dayu Village, located in Gondangrejo Subdistrict, Karanganyar Regency, faces challenges in infrastructure development and area management, alongside high unemployment rates and low community skills. To address these issues, a community service activity was conducted with the aim of providing assistance in processing polyethylene terephthalate (PET) strapping waste into economically valuable handicrafts to enhance residents' skills and income. The implementation method included pre-activity coordination with village government and community members, direct training in crafting products from PET waste, and evaluation and follow-up through discussions and aspiration gathering. The activity was attended by 19 participants who successfully produced marketable waste basket crafts. This initiative opened opportunities for Dayu Village residents to earn additional income through PET strapping waste processing. The high enthusiasm and hope expressed by participants indicate a desire for the activity to continue as a sustainable economic empowerment program in Dayu Village.
