Abstract

Silica sand has physical and chemical characteristics that make it a potential candidate as an adsorbent material. This research utilises silica sand waste from PT DPL sandblasting using the in-situ method with amine group modification to determine its CO2 adsorbent potential along with the effect of amine group ratio: solvent and acid concentration on CO2 absorption. Silica sand waste was extracted using NaOH to obtain Sodium Silicate then modified with amine groups in this case -aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (APTS) by in-situ method and characterised by FTIR and SEM. Based on the results of FTIR analysis, the more amine groups in the APTS: ethanol ratio, the higher the possibility of interaction between amine groups and CO2. So that the modification of silica sand waste is potential as a CO2 adsorbent. The ratio of APTS: ethanol solvent with the most optimal results at a ratio of 1: 1. Based on the results of SEM analysis, the higher the concentration of HCl addition, the more optimal the modified silanol groups with amine groups. In this case the addition of HCl is most optimal at a concentration of 3N.

Abstract

The issue of non-biodegradable plastic waste has driven the development of environmentally friendly bioplastics. This study aims to utilize corncob waste as a raw material for bioplastic production with the addition of varying amounts of silica (SiO₂) and sorbitol as a plasticizer. Corncobs were processed into starch and then mixed with sorbitol and silica in specific variations to produce bioplastics. The bioplastics were characterized by evaluating their thickness, tensile strength, elongation, biodegradability, and moisture content. The results showed that the addition of silica improved the mechanical strength of the bioplastic, while sorbitol enhanced its flexibility. The optimum formulation was obtained at specific concentrations of silica and sorbitol, producing bioplastics with physical and mechanical properties that meet biodegradable standards. In conclusion, corncob waste has potential as an environmentally friendly alternative material for bioplastics, with its quality further enhanced through the addition of silica and sorbitol.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of variations in the volume of EM4 bioactivator and the amount of bran on the characteristics of organic fertilizer made from corncob waste. The background of this study is the need for an alternative fertilizer that is environmentally friendly, affordable, and utilizes agricultural waste. The variations in the volume of EM4 used were 15 mL, 20 mL, and 25 mL, and the amount of bran was 5, 15, 25, 35, and 45 grams. The parameters analyzed included C/N content, nutrient content (N, P, K), water content, and pH, referring to the SNI 7763:2018 and SNI 7763:2024 standards. The results showed that the combination of EM4, bran, and fermentation time significantly affected the quality of organic fertilizer. Treatment with 35 grams of bran and 15 mL of EM4 for 30 days produced the highest nitrogen content of 0.53%, while the highest phosphorus and potassium contents of 0.64% and 0.82%, respectively, were obtained in the treatment of 25 mL of EM4 and 25 grams of bran for 30 days. The lowest C/N content of 20.51 was also achieved in this treatment, meeting the maximum SNI standard of 25. The water content of all treatments ranged from 2–3%, and the pH was in the range of 4–7, both in accordance with SNI standards. Thus, it can be concluded that increasing the amount of nutrients, bioactivator volume, and fermentation time play an important role in accelerating decomposition, increasing nutrients, and producing organic fertilizer that meets national quality standards

Abstract

Liquid organic fertilizer is one type of fertilizer that is widely circulated in the community which is produced from the fermentation of leaf waste or animal waste. This study aims to utilize fruit waste as a production material for making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC), in addition to determining the effectiveness of variations in sugar sources and EM4 concentrations on the quality of the POC produced. The production process of liquid organic fertilizer in this study used types of sugar with variations of granulated sugar, brown sugar, mixed sugar (granulated sugar + brown sugar) and without sugar and EM4 bioactivator concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. The results obtained from the nitrogen analysis ranged from 0.1-0.3 which when associated with the SNI POC did not meet the standard. Liquid organic fertilizer was obtained from testing the phosphorus content in 30% brown sugar, which was 0.00931. While the best potassium content analysis results were found in the EM4 10% granulated sugar variation sample with a result of 0.30%.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis) of a building materials store, while also forecasting its future sales performance. To systematically evaluate both internal and external factors, the research applies the IFAS (Internal Factor Analysis Summary) and EFAS (External Factor Analysis Summary) approaches. The analysis reveals several strengths, such as a wide range of products and a strategic location. However, it also identifies weaknesses, particularly in promotional efforts and inventory management. External factors present both opportunities and challenges — opportunities include ongoing construction projects in the surrounding area and the potential use of social media for marketing. On the other hand, the store faces threats like intense price competition and the growing trend of online shopping. A simple sales forecast was conducted for the upcoming year. The results suggest that without improvements in marketing strategies and operational efficiency, sales are likely to remain stagnant. This is despite the market's potential to grow by up to 20% over the year. Therefore, the study recommends that the store develop more adaptive strategies based on the SWOT analysis and begin leveraging digital media platforms to optimize sales growth.
