Abstract

Utilization of fermented layer chicken excreta as a feed medium for Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots is a sustainable solution for organic waste management. Chicken excreta contains 13-32% crude protein, but has disadvantages such as unbalanced nutrient composition and unpleasant odor. Fermentation of chicken excreta can improve maggot production performance by reducing pathogens, odor, and facilitating digestion. The growth medium of 50% excreta + 50% tofu dregs produced the highest PK, which was 34.34%. The lowest SK and LK were obtained from the growth medium of 50% excreta + 50% tofu dregs and 25% excreta + 75% tofu dregs. Based on physical conditions, the longest and heaviest maggot sizes were obtained from the growth medium of 50% excreta + 50% bran + 5 ml EM4. Meanwhile, the shortest maggots were obtained from the growth medium of 75% coconut dregs + 25% excreta and the lightest maggots were obtained from the growth medium of 100% excreta.

Abstract

One of the problems of catfish cultivation (Clarias gariepinus) that can hinder this cultivation business is the slow growth of fish weight. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of different administration of Mina Pro probiotics on the absolute weight growth of pearl catfish seeds measuring 5-7 cm in the maintenance tub. The method used in this study is an experimental method. The design used in this study was a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with four treatments and six replicates. The treatment given is: addition of probiotics mina pro at a dose of 2 ml/kg of feed, 4 ml/kg of feed, 6 ml/kg of feed and without the addition of probiotics to feed. Other parameters that were also studied included water quality including temperature, pH and DO.

Abstract

Rainwater is often considered to have a negative impact on the survival of fish fry, mainly due to its slightly acidic pH. However, this study aims to investigate the effect of rainwater on the survival rate of comet fish fry (Carassius auratus). The research was conducted at the Bossbaster experimental pond, Legok Nyenang Village, Kadudampit District, Sukabumi Regency, over a period of three days. The fish fry used were one day old after hatching, with a size of approximately 5 mm. The study utilized 15 containers with a water volume of 10 liters per gallon and 15 aeration devices to maintain water circulation. Five treatments were tested: A (100% rainwater), B (75% rainwater), C (50% rainwater), D (25% rainwater), and E (0% rainwater). The research design followed a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications for each treatment. The data were analyzed using the Median Test and Regression Test to maximize the obtained results. The results showed that rainwater did not significantly affect the survival rate of comet fish fry. The survival rate of the fry in all treatments ranged from 98.33% to 99.17%. This indicates that although rainwater has a lower pH, it does not significantly affect the survival of comet fish fry. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the rainwater taken from the research site did not negatively impact the survival rate of comet fish fry. The quality of the rainwater used in this study is safe and can be used as a medium for raising fish fry without causing a decrease in their survival rate. This study provides valuable information on the use of rainwater in fish farming, especially for comet fish fry.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the effect of rainwater on the survival of koi fry. The background of this study is based on the increasing demand for koi fish which encourages breeders to improve the quality and quantity of fry production. However, the success of seeding is influenced by several factors, especially air quality such as temperature and pH. Rainwater is known to have less stable quality, especially due to its low pH value, so it is necessary to study its impact on koi fry. This study was conducted on November 25–28, 2024 in the Bossbaster experimental pond, Legok Nyenang Village, Kadudampit District, Sukabumi Regency. The media used were 15 plastic gallons, each containing 5 liters of air and 40 newly hatched koi fry. The experimental design used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatment levels and 3 replications. Treatments included A (100% rainwater), B (75% rainwater + 25% well water), C (50% rainwater + 50% well water), D (25% rainwater + 75% well water), and E (100% well water). The results of the ANOVA test showed that there was no significant difference (P>0.05) in the survival value of koi fish fry in the five treatments. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of rainwater does not have a significant effect on the survival of koi fish fry. In addition, the results of water quality observations showed that all parameters were still within the standard quality range, except for the temperature which was slightly below the standard.

Abstract

Denpasar is a major fisheries hub in Bali, with Benoa Harbor serving as a docking site for large fishing vessels. The decline in catch volume and annual production has increased the urgency of implementing environmentally friendly fishing and resource management practices. Fishers in Serangan continue to use handline fishing gear, prompting the need for research to assess its environmental friendliness. This study employed a survey method, collecting data through field observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The analysis was conducted based on nine criteria of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF) with a sample of 30 respondents. The results show that handline fishing has high selectivity, targets octopus (Octopus sp) as the main catch, and has minimal impact on habitats and biodiversity. The lowest score was recorded in the criterion of minimum discarded catch due to the presence of bycatch such as skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) and giant trevally (Caranx ignobilis), although these species still have market value. The total score obtained was 32.83, placing handline fishing in the highly environmentally friendly category.

Abstract

Indonesia is a large archipelagic country with significant fisheries potential. However, fish resources in Indonesian waters have shown a declining trend over the past decade. This decline is caused by various factors, including the deterioration of coastal environmental quality due to human activities that pollute the sea, destructive fishing practices, and excessive exploitation or overfishing. This study aims to analyze the utilization rate of bigeye tuna in FMA-NRI 573 landed at PPS Nizam Zachman and to provide recommendations for the utilization efforts of bigeye tuna in FMA-NRI 573 landed at PPS Nizam Zachman. The utilization rate of fish can be calculated by comparing the total catch to the maxmimum sustainable yield (CMSY) using the formula TPc=(Ci/CMSY)×100%TP_c = (C_i / C_{MSY}) \times 100\%TPc=(Ci/CMSY)×100%. The utilization rate obtained, with an average CMSY of 846,325, falls under the category of Lightly Exploited according to FAO and Moderately Exploited based on Ministerial Regulation KP No. 22/2021. This indicates that the utilization is still relatively low or minimal. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a review of existing fishing regulations in order to maintain the potential sustainability of capture fisheries.
