Abstract

Pearl catfish (Clarias gariepinus) has advantages when cultivated, namely fast growth, efficient feed, has a uniform size and is resistant to disease (Matasina and Sartika, 2020). The success of a fish farming business can be determined by its feeding management, because feed that is consumed effectively by fish can make fish experience good growth (Hanief, et.al, 2014).The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of natural feeding of Daphnia magna and silk worms on the absolute weight growth of pearl catfish (Clarias gariepinus) seeds aged 5 days. The method used is an experimental method that aims to determine the effect of feeding Daphnia sp and silk worms on the absolute weight growth of pearl catfish seeds (Clarias gariepinus) aged 5 days in a controlled environment. This study was arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 (three) treatments and each consisting of 9 (nine) repetitions, thus there were 27 experimental units. Treatment A 100% silk worm (control), treatment B: 100% Daphnia sp and treatment C 50% Daphnia sp and 50% silk worm. The parameter observed was absolute weight growth. The results showed that the highest absolute weight growth was obtained from treatment A at 1.22 g, then treatment C at 0.76 g and the lowest was treatment B at 0.33 g. Based on the LSD further test, all feed treatments had significant differences on the absolute weight of fish fry. Based on the LSD further test as a whole shows that all feed treatments have significant differences on the absolute weight of fish seeds.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of different percentages of natural feed (Tubifex sp.) and artificial feed on the absolute weight gain of striped catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) fry. The study was conducted at PBIAT Muntilan for 30 days using an experimental method. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied with five treatments and five replicates. The treatments were as follows: A (100% pellet), B (75% pellet + 25% Tubifex sp.), C (50% pellet + 50% Tubifex sp.), D (25% pellet + 75% Tubifex sp.), and E (100% Tubifex sp.). ANOVA analysis showed that different proportions of natural feed (Tubifex sp.) and artificial feed significantly affected absolute weight gain. The most optimal feeding ratio for enhancing the absolute weight gain of striped catfish fry was found in treatment E, where 100% Tubifex sp. was provided, resulting in the highest absolute weight gain of 4.876 grams. Water Quality Parameters: During the study, the recorded water temperature ranged from 25.1 to 25.4ºC, pH ranged from 6.7 to 6.8, and dissolved oxygen ranged from 6.6 to 6.7 ppm. ANOVA analysis of these three water quality parameters showed no significant differences among treatments. However, the temperature was below the optimal range for the growth of striped catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) fry.

Abstract

Tuna fish (Thunnus albacares) is a fish that has a fairly high economic value and is the dominant catch landed at PPS Nizam Zachman which comes from the WPPNRI 573. Based on the high production results and fishing activities, it is necessary to analyze the utilization level that has been carried out by PPS Nizam Zachman in the WPPNRI 573 for the sustainability of tuna fish (Thunnus albacares). This study aims to determine the CPUE (Catch per Unit Effort), sustainable potential (MSY), utilization level and effort level of tuna fish (Thunnus albacares) landed at PPS Nizam Zachman. This study was conducted on 18 until 30 November 2024. The method used in this study is the Schaefer surplus production method approach. Tuna (Thunnus albacares) were caught using handline fishing gear, purse seines, and tuna longlines. The standard used as the FPI (Fishing Power Index) is the highest CPUE value, namely purse seines. Based on the analysis using the Schaefer model, the intercept value (a) shows 30.864 and the slope (b) is -16.458. The intercept value shows that if there is no fishing effort, the potential for tuna (Thunnus albacares) in WPPNRI 573 available in nature is still 30.864 tons/trip. The MSY catch was 14,469,702 tons, the optimum effort was 938 trips, and the allowable catch was 11,575,762 tons with an average utilization rate of tuna (Thunnus albacares) in WPPNRI 573 landed at PPS Nizam Zachman of 92% with an average effort rate of 106%. This shows that the utilization rate of tuna (Thunnus albacares) in WPPNRI 573 landed at PPS Nizam Zachman is in a dense catch condition.

Abstract

The addition of probiotics such as Lactobacillus sp to fermented feed is expected to improve nutrient digestibility, suppress the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, and improve feed conversion efficiency, thereby promoting optimal shrimp growth. This study used an experimental method on vannamei shrimp doc 80 using a complete randomized design (RAL) with four treatments: P0 (feed without fermentation as a control), P1 (feed fermentation for 0 hours 10ml/100g with Lactobacillus sp), P2 (feed fermentation for 24 hours with 10ml/100g Lactobacillus sp), P3 (feed fermentation for 48 hours 10ml/100g Lactobacillus sp), P3 (feed fermentation for 72 hours 10ml/100g Lactobacillus sp) by doing 6 repetitions which were carried out for 1 month/30 days in the maintenance tub. The results showed that Treatment A without fermentation gave absolute growth with an average of 1 gr, Treatment B with no fermentation gave absolute growth with an average of 1.89 grams, Treatment C with a fermentation time of 48 hours gave absolute weight growth with an average of 2.15 grams, Treatment D with no fermentation gave absolute growth with an average of 0.74 grams. Meanwhile, the water quality parameters during the study were obtained with water temperature ranging from 28.3-29.6o C, pH ranging from 7.8-8.0, and dissolved oxygen ranging from 4.03-4.66 mg/l. With the anova test, the absolute weight growth showed that with different fermentation time differences, there was a real effect on the growth of vannamei shrimp in C treatment, which was 2.15 gr. And in the results of the anova test, the four water quality parameters were not different between the treatments and were in the optimal range in the life of vannamei shrimp. Based on this study, it can be suggested that the optimal fermented feed is in the time range of 48 hours and there is further research for doc 80 and above.

Abstract

One of the issues in fishing culture, particularly in the capture of blue crabs, is the use of improper fishing gear. Using the wrong fishing gear can damage the marine ecosystem. The type of bait used also significantly affects the catch results. Therefore, this study aims to determine the productivity and efficiency of crab traps (bubu) using petek fish and tembang fish as bait to catch blue crabs at the Tanjung Kait Dock, Tangerang, Banten. To assess the efficiency, these two baits were compared using the same fishing gear in the same fishing area, so the most efficient bait for catching blue crabs at the Tanjung Kait Dock, Tangerang, Banten, could be identified. The results of this study show that the type of bait, either petek fish or tembang fish, has an effect on the blue crab catch at the Tanjung Kait Dock. The treatment using petek fish resulted in an average catch of 2.5 kilograms more than the tembang fish.
