It is very much effective today in resolving interactive and long standing conflict. This study examines the relevance of negotiation as alternative to violence in resolving deep-rooted conflict. Despite negotiation potency to amicably resolve deep-rooted conflict, the study revealed some noticeable challenges hindering its relevancy such as cultural sensitivities, adversarial attitude of legal representative and absence of national negotiation/ADR law. Abstract

Like in other African countries, in Ethiopia slavery and slave trade was practiced for centuries and had been an endemic for the society In this article I have made an attempt to bring out the efforts of different emperors, particularly Emperor Haile Sellassie’s period in order to regulate and prohibit slavery and slave trade in Ethiopia and to discuss the existence of the institutions and the practice until the 1950s. The attempt of the Ethiopian rulers to regulate or prohibit the slave trade in slaves failed owing to several reasons. Anyway, the most serious laws making the beginning of the end for the institution of slavery in Ethiopia came in the 1920s. In attempt to counter European criticism Ras Tafari issued an edict in 1923 and 1924 imposing heavy penalties on the slave trade without, however, abolishing the legal status of slavery itself. Later, Ethiopia became a signatory to the ‘Slavery Convention of 1926.’ The official policy of the Ethiopian government against the slave trade, however, did little to stop the regional war lords from continuing to raid the borderlands for slaves. The continuation of slave trading and slavery itself in Ethiopia into the 1930s, the involvement of the state in the trade and the continued use of slaves in the royal court were directly contrary to the public statements of Emperor Haile Sellassie I and the legal commitments of the Ethiopian state. Immediately after the evacuation of the Italian although Emperor Haile Sellassie made efforts to prohibit the trade in slaves, it continued to flourish. Even in 1942 he issued an edict imposing heavy punishment on those who involved either in capturing or kidnapping or selling slaves. Nonetheless, this does not mean that it came to an end. For this, I have discovered archival evidences in Debre Markos Administrative Office and Higher Court House of Eastern Gojjam Zone, and in Dangla and Metekel administrative offices. Accordingly, the archives I discovered have three categories: the first deals with people who were accused of catching, kidnapping and selling slaves on the basis of eye witness who punished from seven to twenty years of imprisonment. The second category is dealing with people who were accused of kidnapping and selling individuals as slaves for money but for lack of witness, who pardoned and set free. The third phase is connected with the people who after capturing and kidnapping individuals with intent to sell them to slavery but because of the absence of a purchaser, who treated them brutally. The sources are critically collected, scrutinize and analyzed and their validities are cross-checked one against the other. Finally, as a historical research, the paper is based on a systematic selection, collection and analysis of archival documents, manuscripts and secondary sources of both published and unpublished.

Hence, government, faculty members, and students should understand the hindrances and other factors influencing online learning. Objectives: This study aims to determine the significant effect of perceived hindrances in relation to technology factors affecting the students' online learning. Design: This study is a Quantitative research wherein data is gathered through an online survey questionnaire or a Google form in accordance with TAM factors, which include perceived hindrances, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness that influence college students' engagement in online learning. The instrument was verified by five experts to ensure its validity and reliability of the survey questionnaire. The researchers conducted a pilot study statistically with twenty-five respondents from various schools and institutions in Pampanga to support the expert validation. The participants are college students who currently enrolled from various schools in Pampanga, Philippines. Smart PLS 3 was used to gain a better overview of the two hundred and fifty responses and to identify those supported and unsupported outcome. Provided by the Smart PLS software, given the bootstrap method, P value of less than 0.05 is a supported outcome. In presenting the quality of the constructed model R square is given by the algorithm method where a round 52% total variance is presented. As a result, the collected data and findings were deemed to be reliable and significant. Other factors that supported the constructed hypothesis has a significant effect to college students' online learning. The findings and recommendations of the study will serve as a reference for better online learning engagement as well as a solution for preventing students from being hindered and for creating an active online learning engagement

Abstract

This research seeks to analyze the issues that have evolved for running homestays under the new normal conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka due to a dearth of studies that have been conducted to determine the rigorous pandemic consequences on homestays. Qualitative research approach was entrusted and direct in-depth interviews were conducted for a sample of sixteen homestay operators in Ella and Mirissa area of Sri Lanka which are popular for the homestay concept among foreign visitors. Thematic analysis was adopted consequently to achieve the research objectives. The study's findings reveal the economic, environmental, health and safety, and socio-cultural concerns that have surfaced. It specifically demonstrates that homestay operators are unwilling to take use of the domestic tourist industry in order to overcome financial difficulties, as well as their prejudice against local visitors and lack of preparedness to launch their operations owing to worries of virus transmission. The fear of respondents to express their opinions leisurely was evident due to the emergence of an extensive Covid wave at the time of data collection. Further, the study covered only two destinations in the island. The outcome of this study recommends the Sri Lankan policy makers to re-evaluate the existing guidelines and improve them further while using homestays as a post pandemic branding tool as “New Normal Homestay” concept
