Abstract

Wet coffee bean processing at the household-scale farmer level is still largely carried out manually, requiring considerable time and labor while producing non-uniform bean quality. The use of wet coffee bean hulling machines is expected to improve post-harvest processing efficiency; however, in practice, several problems are still encountered, particularly in the coffee bean separation system. This study aims to design, construct, and test the performance of a household-scale wet coffee bean hulling machine and to analyze the performance of the separation system between hulled and unhulled coffee beans.The research method used was Research and Development (R&D), which included the stages of design, fabrication, and performance testing. The machine was designed using a single-phase electric motor with a power rating of 1 HP, a pulley and V-belt transmission system, a friction-based hulling mechanism, and a perforated screen as the coffee bean separation medium. Performance testing was conducted using post-harvest wet coffee beans at a shaft rotational speed of 420 rpm. The observed parameters included the machine’s ability to perform the hulling process and the hulling process time.The test results show that the wet coffee bean hulling machine is capable of performing the hulling process at a shaft rotational speed of 420 rpm and operates stably during the testing process. The coffee bean separation system functions in accordance with the design principles and is able to support wet coffee bean processing at the household scale. Based on the test results and analysis, the developed wet coffee bean hulling machine can be used as a supporting tool for household-scale wet coffee processing and has the potential for further development to improve performance and the effectiveness of post-harvest coffee processing.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the welding strength, specifically the SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) method, on ASTM A106 grade B carbon steel pipes. These pipes are commonly used in the oil and gas industry, making it important to understand the mechanical properties that occur after the welding process. Tensile testing was conducted on specimens taken from welded pipe joints, using SMAW as the welding method parameter. The results of the test indicate that the welding method significantly influences tensile strength, elongation, and other mechanical properties. This study found that maximum strength is achieved at certain parameters, highlighting the importance of control in the welding process to ensure joint quality. In addition, microscopic analysis of the microstructure shows that the composition and phase characteristics of the weld affect joint strength. The findings of this research are expected to provide guidance for industry in improving welding quality and the durability of carbon steel pipe joints, as well as serve as a reference for further studies in developing more efficient and effective welding techniques.

Abstract

The rapid development of industrial technology has led to a significant increase in electrical energy demand. Meanwhile, mechanical energy in the form of vibrations generated by production machines is largely wasted and has not been optimally utilized. These vibrations have the potential to be converted into electrical energy through piezoelectric-based vibration energy harvesting technology. This study aims to analyze the influence of vibration characteristics and frequency variations of production machines on the electrical energy output generated by an energy harvesting system. The research objects include three types of production machines: pond machines, injection molding machines, and drilling machines, each of which exhibits different vibration characteristics. A quantitative method with an experimental approach was employed in this study. The energy harvesting system was designed using 35 mm diameter PZT piezoelectric elements connected in series. Vibration characteristics were measured using an accelerometer sensor, while voltage and current measurements were carried out using INA219 and ACS712 sensors. Data were collected for 120 seconds for each machine with three repeated tests to obtain accurate and representative results. The experimental data were analyzed using electrical power equations and presented in tables and graphs. The results show that the pond machine produced the highest electrical energy output, with an average voltage of 7.14 V, current of 4.13 mA, and power of 30.66 mW. The injection molding machine generated an average voltage of 4.75 V, current of 2.75 mA, and power of 13.18 mW. Meanwhile, the drilling machine produced the lowest output, with a voltage of 2.45 V, current of 1.41 mA, and power of 3.47 mW. These findings indicate that greater and more stable vibration characteristics result in higher electrical energy output from the vibration energy harvesting system.

Abstract

Pancasila as the foundational ideology and philosophical system of the nation plays a fundamental role in regulating the life of the Indonesian state and society. However, amid current social, cultural, and political dynamics, the understanding and implementation of Pancasila’s values within society require continuous examination. This study aims to analyze the urgency of Pancasila as a philosophical system in the life of the nation and the state within the community of Tuntungan 1, Pancur Batu district, Deli Serdang Regency. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through structured interviews with 40 local community respondents using a simple question instrument with answer options of “yes,” “no,” and “maybe.” The results indicate that nearly all members of the community are aware of and acknowledge Pancasila as the state ideology and understand its role as a guideline for national and civic life. Nevertheless, variations exist in the level of conviction and consistency in the application of Pancasila’s values in everyday life. Therefore, this study affirms that Pancasila continues to hold a high level of urgency as a philosophical system, while also requiring sustained efforts to strengthen public understanding and implementation of its values within society.

Abstract

This study examines how the blade angle of an elephant grass chopping machine affects the chopping results used for making cattle feed silage. Elephant grass needs to be chopped to a standard size for silage production, with the ideal chop length ranging from 2–5 cm and relatively uniform, so that the fermentation process runs properly and the feed is easier for livestock to consume. The research was conducted using an experimental method with 1 kg of fresh elephant grass for each trial. The chopped output was classified into three size categories: <2 cm, 2–5 cm, and >5 cm, to determine which met the silage standard most effectively. The study tested three blade angles—30°, 45°, and 60°—and three machine rotational speeds (1700 rpm, 2000 rpm, and 2300 rpm) to evaluate their effects on chopping time, cut size distribution, and processing capacity. The results show that the best performance in terms of machine rotational speed at the 30° blade angle occurred at 2300 rpm. The highest percentage of chopped material within the 2–5 cm size range was obtained at a 45° blade angle, reaching approximately 55–58% of the total chopped output, indicating the most optimal conformity with silage size standards.

Abstract

Limited surface-water availability during the dry season has increased the dependence of communities in Kapek Village, Gunungsari District, West Lombok Regency, on groundwater resources as their primary water supply. This condition necessitates subsurface investigations to determine the occurrence and depth of aquifer layers. Accordingly, this study aims to estimate groundwater aquifer depths through the application of a one-dimensional electrical resistivity method using Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) with a Schlumberger electrode configuration. Data acquisition was conducted at two sounding locations with a maximum half-current electrode spacing (AB/2) of 300 m. The field measurements were subsequently processed using one-dimensional inversion techniques to generate vertical resistivity distribution models. Interpretation was carried out by integrating the inversion results with characteristic resistivity ranges of lithological materials, regional geological information, and surface geological observations. The processing results at Sounding Point 1 indicate the presence of a layer with a resistivity value of approximately 31 Ωm, which is interpreted as an aquifer zone occurring at depths between 47 and 127 m below ground surface. At Sounding Point 2, a layer exhibiting a resistivity value of about 10.1 Ωm was identified and interpreted as an aquifer at depths ranging from 48 to 129 m. These variations in resistivity reflect differences in lithological characteristics and degrees of water saturation between the two locations. These findings provide an initial technical basis for determining suitable drilling depths and locations for groundwater wells and for supporting sustainable groundwater resource management in the study area. Furthermore, the results confirm that the one-dimensional resistivity method with a Schlumberger configuration represents an effective and efficient approach for groundwater exploration in regions where hydrogeological data remain limited.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role  of comprehensive Guidance and Counseling (BK) based on local cultural values in improving career adaptability and emotional intelligence of students and students. The background of this research is based on the importance of students' readiness to face the demands of the dynamic world of work, as well as overcoming career anxiety and adaptability limitations that often arise in the digital era and disruption 4.0. The research uses a qualitative approach with  a systematic literature study method, including the collection, reading, and analysis of 22 scientific articles, journals, and trusted books published between 2015–2025. The literature selection process follows  the PRISMA model, starting from title and abstract screening, full-text screening, to article quality validation. The results of the study showed that comprehensive BK was effective in improving career adaptability and emotional intelligence through structured strategies, diverse counseling interventions (CBT, Pictorial Narrative, KIPAS Model, and digital services), as well as social support and counselor competence. The integration of local cultural values has been proven to strengthen students' identities while increasing career readiness. This study emphasizes that the development of comprehensive BK based on modern strategies and local culture is an effective solution to support the career readiness, adaptability, and psychological well-being of students.

Abstract

The quarterly MSCI index rebalancing triggered massive foreign flows to the IDX (US$247 million per inclusion event) as global ETFs were required to adjust their portfolios. The IDX's low free float (25%) and reliance on foreign flows for 40% of daily transactions created extreme volatility. The trading halt in March 2025 (-5%, post-rebalancing) and the MSCI freeze on January 27, 2026 (JCI -8%, trading halt at 1:43 PM WIB) are evidence of a systemic phenomenon. The objectives of this study are: (1) To measure the impact of MSCI rebalancing on stock volatility; (2) To identify the differences between inclusion and exclusion; (3) To identify the determinants of volatility. The research method used an integrated GARCH(1,1) event study on 40 LQ45/IDX30 stocks from 20 rebalancing events from 2020-2025 (February, May, August, and November). Secondary data was used from Yahoo Finance's daily prices, official MSCI announcements, and IDX foreign flow. Estimation window (-120/-21 days), event window (-10/+20 days), paired t-test, fixed effects panel regression. The MSCI announcement caused stock volatility to increase 46% (from 1.45% to 2.12% daily) due to simultaneous buying/selling by foreign ETFs. Stocks included in the index (such as BREN +244%, BBRI inflow $320 million) were more volatile than stocks excluded (KLBF -5.3% panic selling). GARCH shows the effect persisted for 20+ days—not just 1-2 days. Panel regression evidence shows that volume increased 42% (β=0.58), and the weak rupiah (β=0.33) exacerbated the volatility, while large-cap stocks (BBCA) were more stable (β=-0.24).

Abstract

Slope stability is a critical aspect of road construction projects, particularly in areas with hilly topography and complex soil conditions. Slope failure can lead to serious consequences, including disruption of road functionality, economic losses, and safety risks. This study aims to analyze slope stability in a road construction project using a numerical method based on the Finite Element Method. The analysis was carried out using the strength reduction method to determine the factor of safety and to identify deformation patterns and slope failure mechanisms. The data used include results of soil investigations, soil mechanical parameters, slope geometry, and groundwater conditions. The analysis results indicate that the unreinforced slope is in a critical condition, with a factor of safety below the recommended value. The application of reinforcement systems, particularly soil nailing combined with drainage systems, significantly increases the factor of safety and reduces slope deformation. This study concludes that numerical methods provide a more comprehensive and realistic approach to slope stability analysis and are highly recommended for the design and evaluation of slopes in road construction projects with complex geotechnical conditions.

Abstract

Reinforced concrete beams are structural elements widely used in construction due to their ability to effectively resist bending loads. The analysis of stress and strain distribution in reinforced concrete beams is a crucial aspect in ensuring structural safety and performance. This study aims to develop and analyze a mathematical model of stress and strain distribution in reinforced concrete beams subjected to bending loads. The research methodology employs an analytical approach based on bending theory and constitutive relationships of concrete and reinforcing steel materials, complemented by verification through numerical analysis. The mathematical model is formulated under the assumptions that plane sections remain plane after bending and that perfect bond exists between concrete and steel reinforcement. The results indicate that strain distribution is linear, while stress distribution exhibits nonlinear behavior in compressed concrete and elastic–plastic behavior in reinforcing steel. Variations in reinforcement ratio and concrete strength significantly affect the flexural capacity and deformation response of the beam. A comparison between analytical and numerical results shows good agreement, indicating that the developed model is sufficiently accurate for preliminary analysis and design of reinforced concrete beams. This study is expected to contribute to the development of more rational and efficient analysis methods for reinforced concrete structures.
