Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions of students in the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program at Makassar State University regarding the relevance, challenges, and expectations of the Impact Internship Program. This program is part of the Independent Learning and Independent Campus policy, which aims to provide students with real-world work experience. However, for PGSD students, this policy faces obstacles because elementary schools are not yet recognized as part of the industry. This study used a quantitative descriptive method by distributing questionnaires to students. The results showed that most students understood the importance of the program but experienced confusion because the available internship locations did not align with the educational field. They also hoped that schools and non-formal educational institutions would be recognized as part of the "education industry." These findings emphasize the need to review and redefine the concept of industry in the MBKM policy to make the implementation of the Impact Internship Program more relevant for prospective elementary school teachers.

Abstract

The low level of students’ statistical literacy remains a challenge in mathematics education in Indonesia, partly due to conventional and non-contextual teaching approaches. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ethnomathematics-based interactive animation media in improving the statistical literacy of junior high school students. A quantitative method with a pretest–posttest design was applied to two groups: the experimental group used the interactive animation media, while the control group received conventional instruction. The instrument used was a statistical literacy test covering the ability to read, interpret, and draw conclusions from data within a local cultural context. The results showed a significant increase in posttest scores in both groups, with higher gains in the experimental group. An independent sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.001), indicating the effectiveness of the ethnomathematics-based media. These findings suggest that integrating digital media with local culture enhances learning outcomes and creates more meaningful, contextual learning experiences. The study recommends the development of similar media across other subjects to strengthen culture-based literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted digital Student Worksheet (LKPD) to improve junior high school students’ understanding of mathematical concepts on fraction material. The development followed the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The resulting product is a web-based worksheet accessible via QR code, equipped with animations, videos, interactive images, and an AI chatbot as a virtual tutor. Validation by material experts and media experts produced an average score of 88.2%, categorized as highly valid. A limited trial involving 20 seventh-grade students showed an improvement in learning outcomes with an N-Gain score of 0.65 (medium–high category). Students’ responses to the digital worksheet were also highly positive, with an average score of 3.56 across the aspects of attractiveness, ease of use, clarity of material, and usefulness of AI features. These findings indicate that the AI-assisted digital worksheet is feasible and effective as an innovative learning medium to enhance motivation and conceptual understanding of mathematics among junior high school students.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of growth mindset and deep learning in mathematics education through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA framework. Literature searches in Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar identified 74 initial studies. After title–abstract screening, full-text eligibility assessment, and inclusion–exclusion filtering, 22 studies met the criteria for synthesis. Data analysis employed extraction procedures, thematic coding, and thematic synthesis. Three main themes emerged. First, the growth mindset acts as a psychological foundation for deep learning through mechanisms of self-regulation and academic control. Second, its effectiveness is shaped by contextual factors such as socioeconomic inequality, teacher expectations, and academic support. Third, educational technologies (AI, ICT, maker education) enhance deep learning when paired with adaptive mindsets and supportive learning environments. The review concludes that effective integration of growth mindset and deep learning requires a reflective, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep operasi pecahan pada siswa kelas V UPT SPF SD Inpres Galangan Kapal 1. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep operasi pecahan melalui pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 22 siswa kelas V. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes pemahaman konsep, lembar observasi, dan angket respons siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari 61,32 pada siklus I menjadi 80,73 pada siklus II, serta peningkatan ketuntasan klasikal dari 22,73% menjadi 86,36%. Penerapan pendekatan RME melalui penggunaan konteks nyata, model konkret, dan diskusi kelompok terbukti dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep operasi pecahan siswa secara lebih bermakna.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Indonesian and English language proficiency on the speaking ability of students at STIE LPI Makassar. The study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. A total of 120 students were selected as samples using proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that both Indonesian and English language proficiency have a positive and significant effect on students’ speaking ability, both partially and simultaneously. Indonesian language proficiency shows a more dominant influence compared to English language proficiency. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.582 indicates that the two variables explain 58.2% of the variance in students’ speaking ability. These findings highlight that students’ speaking ability is not solely determined by a single language proficiency, but rather by the integration of bilingual competencies. Therefore, higher education institutions should develop integrated language learning strategies to enhance students’ communication skills more effectively.

Abstract

Traditional games have the potential to serve as culture-based learning resources that support contextual learning in elementary schools. However, their utilization in the learning process remains relatively low, including among Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students as prospective teachers. This study aims to analyze the relationship between PGSD students’ perceptions and interests toward the use of traditional games as learning resources in elementary schools. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment correlation tests. The results showed that PGSD students had positive perceptions and high interest in the use of traditional games as learning resources. In addition, there was a positive and significant relationship between students’ perceptions and interests. These findings indicate that more positive perceptions toward traditional games are associated with higher interest in implementing them in elementary school learning. This study confirms that traditional games have the potential to be developed as active, contextual, and culture-based learning media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors contributing to students’ low interest in learning visual arts among twelfth-grade students at YAPI Senior High School Padang. Low student participation and limited appreciation for visual arts education at the senior high school level have become significant issues that require serious attention, as they may hinder the development of students’ creativity, aesthetic competence, and artistic expression. The study employed a mixed-methods approach using a concurrent triangulation design. The research participants consisted of twelfth-grade students, arts and culture teachers, and homeroom teachers. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentage analysis, while qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that students’ low interest in learning was influenced by both internal and external factors. Internal factors included attitudes, motivation, talent, and hobbies, with talent emerging as the dominant indicator at 18.01%. External factors included the learning environment, teachers and instructional strategies, and family background, with family factors showing the highest percentage at 18.79%. These findings were further supported by qualitative data indicating that limited facilities and infrastructure caused the learning process to rely predominantly on lecture-based teaching methods. Therefore, students’ low interest in learning visual arts can be understood as the result of the interaction between internal and external factors.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited availability of scientifically validated science literacy assessment instruments, particularly on dynamic electricity material for pre-service elementary school teachers. Science literacy is an essential competency that prospective elementary school teachers must possess to understand scientific concepts and apply them in 21st-century learning. Instruments with low validity and reliability may lead to inaccurate measurement results; therefore, it is necessary to develop assessment instruments that meet good instrument criteria. This study aimed to analyze the quality of a science literacy test instrument in terms of validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive evaluative research design. The participants consisted of 40 students from the Elementary School Teacher Education Program. The research instrument comprised 25 multiple-choice items developed based on the PISA Science Framework 2025. Data were collected through instrument testing and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics. Expert validation results from two validators showed an average score of 4.42, categorized as very valid. The empirical validity test using Corrected Item-Total Correlation (CITC) indicated that 23 out of 25 items were valid, while two items were invalid. The reliability test yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.971, indicating very high reliability. The difficulty level analysis showed that most items were in the moderate category, while the discriminating power analysis demonstrated that most items effectively distinguished between high- and low-ability students. This study contributes by providing a valid and reliable science literacy assessment instrument that can be used to evaluate science learning in elementary school teacher education programs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan kompetensi pedagogis dengan sikap profesional mahasiswa pada Program Asistensi Mengajar Sekolah Dasar (AMSD). Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis korelasional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 200 mahasiswa semester V Jurusan PGSD FIP UNM Kampus Makassar yang mengikuti AMSD. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket dan dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi JASP. Hasil uji Spearman menunjukkan terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kompetensi pedagogis dengan sikap profesional mahasiswa (r = 0.665; p < 0.001). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi kompetensi pedagogis mahasiswa, maka semakin tinggi pula sikap profesional mahasiswa selama mengikuti AMSD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AMSD berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan kompetensi pedagogis dan profesionalisme mahasiswa calon guru.
