Abstract

The low level of awareness among Muslims regarding the use of safe and halal cosmetics necessitates public awareness education. The purpose of this activity is to educate partners to recognize and choose safe and halal cosmetics, while also becoming agents of change for families or relatives by providing accurate information in choosing safe and halal cosmetics. The educational method is carried out in the form of lectures and simulations of halal cosmetic products. The stages include: pre-test, counseling, simulation, and post-test. Evaluation of the activity is carried out by measuring the level of knowledge and achievement of predetermined objectives. Students demonstrated enthusiasm and active involvement during the activity. The analysis results show an increase in knowledge of the Medium Level from before (40%) and after (60%) the activity. In addition, direct observation also indicates an increase in involvement and deeper understanding among participants. Based on this, it is concluded that education through lectures and simulations introducing safe and halal cosmetics can improve the understanding of students at SMK Swadaya Global School in East Jakarta.

Abstract

Students have a duty to assist the community in addition to their roles as scholars.  Community Service Programs (KKN) provide a transformative framework for putting knowledge into practice.  Environmental cleanliness and nutritional knowledge were among the village issues that the KKN program addressed in Sedulang Village, Muara Kaman District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency.  Outreach on stunting and Dengue Fever (DHF) was part of the work program, as in creating eco-friendly briquettes and environmental education via the "See Trash, Take It" (LISA) campaign.  The community's awareness between illness transmission and unclean surroundings has grown as a result of the DHF outreach. The stunting outreach, meanwhile, helped moms and young women understand how crucial nutrition is to a child's growth and development.  By encouraging active community participation in village cleanliness and providing training on creating briquettes from organic waste as an alternative energy source, the LISA movement brought tangible results.  This program links local issues like waste, flooding, and the state of stilt houses with global solutions for health, clean energy, and sustainable village development. It does this by taking an approach that is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 12 (responsible consumption and production) and 3 (healthy and prosperous lives).

Abstract

This study aims to strengthen anti-bullying values through education and social campaigns at SMPN 7 Kota Bangun. The method applied was a social campaign using presentations, interactive discussions, and educational posters, followed by evaluation through a post-test. The post-test results revealed that the majority of students understood that bullying, both physical and non-physical, negatively affects social relationships and the learning environment. Students also emphasized the importance of sanctions for perpetrators, the obligation to help peers, and the shared responsibility of the school community in preventing bullying. However, some students still held misconceptions that bullying is only dangerous if it is physical. Campaign documentation illustrated students’ active engagement during socialization sessions, the use of posters as media, and a spirit of solidarity in supporting anti-bullying values. Challenges encountered included limited time and students’ hesitation to report cases, while solutions proposed involved continuous campaigns, teacher involvement, and peer-to-peer approaches. Therefore, this program has proven effective in strengthening awareness and anti-bullying values, although further efforts are needed to ensure a more sustainable impact.

Abstract

Helminthiasis remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, particularly among school-aged children, and can seriously affect growth, intelligence, and academic performance. This study aimed to enhance students’ knowledge and awareness regarding the prevention and management of helminth infections through a health promotion program entitled Golden Generation, Free from Helminths at Muhammadiyah 5 Junior High School Samarinda. The method applied was interactive counseling using PowerPoint presentations and educational leaflets, accompanied by pre-test and post-test assessments to measure students’ understanding before and after the activity. A total of 33 students participated in the program, which covered materials on the definition and types of helminths, symptoms, impacts, prevention through clean and healthy lifestyle practices, and recommendations for regular anthelmintic consumption. The results demonstrated an improvement in students’ knowledge as indicated by higher post-test scores compared to pre-test results, along with high enthusiasm during question-and-answer sessions, quizzes, and discussions. This program concludes that interactive health education is effective in increasing students’ understanding of helminth prevention and has the potential to foster healthy behaviors that support the achievement of a helminth-free generation.

Abstract

Safe and responsible medication management is crucial to prevent medication errors in the community. The DAGUSIBU (Obtaining, Using, Storing, and Disposing of Medication) program aims to raise public awareness about proper medication management. This activity was implemented at the Aster Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) using an interactive educational approach through counseling and leaflet distribution to 30 participants. Participants' knowledge was assessed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Results showed a significant increase in the average knowledge score, from 16.17 to 19.47 after the intervention. This increase was evenly distributed across all age groups. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of DAGUSIBU outreach in increasing public knowledge about pediatric medication management, thereby supporting safer medication use and reducing the risk of medication errors. This activity has the potential to become a model for ongoing education in public health programs

Abstract

Helminthiasis is a disease commonly found in tropical regions, transmitted through soil, and capable of causing intestinal tract infections that result in the loss of carbohydrates, proteins, and blood. This disease is generally associated with poor personal hygiene. The prevalence of helminthiasis in Indonesia ranges from 2.5% to 62%, with an average prevalence of 28% across 181 districts/cities in 2021 (Ministry of Health, 2017). This health promotion activity aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of students at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Samarinda regarding the dangers and prevention of helminthiasis, as well as to provide understanding of the pharmacist’s role in community life. The methods included presentations using PowerPoint, distribution of leaflets, and administration of pre- and post-intervention questionnaires. The results showed an 8% increase in students’ knowledge about helminthiasis prevention, rising from 81% before the intervention to 89% after.

Abstract

Background: English literacy skills play a vital role in students’ academic and social development. Yet, many junior high school students still struggle with reading and writing due to limited vocabulary and exposure. Objective: This community service program, titled “Don’t Worry, English is Easy,” aimed to strengthen the English literacy skills—particularly reading and writing—of seventh-grade students at SMPN 7 Loa Kulu, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Methods: The program was conducted by lecturers and students from the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Mulawarman. The implementation involved observation, documentation, and literacy-based training using contextual materials such as “Introducing Myself,” “My Family,” and “My School.” Results: The findings revealed that students experienced difficulties with spelling and constructing English sentences. Common spelling errors were caused by phonetic interference and limited understanding of English orthography. External factors such as family background, lack of learning facilities, and minimal English exposure outside the classroom also contributed to these challenges. However, students showed increased motivation, confidence, and active participation throughout the training sessions. Conclusion: The program effectively enhanced students’ enthusiasm and engagement in learning English. It is recommended that similar community service programs be implemented continuously through collaboration between universities and schools to strengthen students’ English proficiency holistically.
