Abstract

According to primary data from the UPT Bapelkes of the Riau Provincial Health Office in 2024 regarding the results of environmental health quality monitoring training for environmental sanitation workers at Community Health Centers, the average pre-test results for 20 participants were 55.6, which is still far below the graduation target of 80. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with a case study design conducted from March to July 2025. The population was 72 people, consisting of several community health centers in Riau Province. In this study, the sample was 20 (twenty-one) Environmental Sanitation Workers who participated in the training. Data analysis using descriptive analysis techniques was carried out through the calculation of frequency distribution, percentage, average value (mean) and standard deviation of each variable studied. Based on the results of the univariate analysis that has been done, it is known that all subjects amounted to 20 people in the female gender (80%) with the latest education of SI (50%). There is an influence of Environmental Health Quality Supervision Training for Environmental Sanitation Workers at the Community Health Center on the competence and performance of environmental sanitation workers, providing a positive impact. It is recommended that the UPT Bapelkes of the Riau Provincial Health Office can hold further training that is more specific and based on field case studies, so that the material is more applicable

Abstract

Waste management is a serious challenge in urban areas, including Pekanbaru City, which produces more than 800 tons of waste daily. Trans Dipo, as a Temporary Storage Site (TPS), plays a crucial role in the waste management chain, yet it still faces various technical and community participation challenges. This study aims to determine waste management at Trans Dipo, Pekanbaru City, in 2025, specifically in the aspects of sorting, collection, and transportation. The research method used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Primary data was obtained through direct observation and in-depth interviews with supervisors, Trans Dipo officers, and officials from the Pekanbaru City Environment and Sanitation Agency. Secondary data was obtained from official documents from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions through source triangulation. The results indicate that waste sorting is not optimal because residents still mix organic and inorganic waste, while sorting efforts are carried out only by waste banks. Waste collection is routinely carried out 3–4 times a week, but is still hampered by irregular fees and a lack of community discipline. Transportation from the TPS (landfill) to the TPA (landfill) is carried out daily by dump trucks or Colt Diesel trucks, but fleet limitations and vehicle breakdowns often cause delays, resulting in waste accumulation at the TPS. Overall, waste management at the Trans Dipo in Pekanbaru City is ineffective due to limited infrastructure, low public awareness, and operational constraints. Improvements are needed, including the provision of sorting facilities, additional collection vehicles, and ongoing education to ensure a more optimal and environmentally friendly waste management system

Abstract

The destruction of the mangrove ecosystem in Purnama Village is a cause for concern among the community, especially in Purnama Village. Efforts to preserve mangroves with community involvement are needed. The active participation of group members such as the ‘Mastali Madu’ group is very important in the implementation of mangrove conservation activities. This study aims to analyse the forms of participation, supporting and inhibiting factors, and the impacts felt by members of ‘Mastali Madu’ when involved in mangrove conservation. This study was conducted in Purnama Village, using qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach, which involved observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the forms of participation of Mastali Madu group members in mangrove conservation are classified as active, especially in expressing opinions and carrying out activities. The supporting factors for participation are the availability of opportunities, willingness, and ability. The inhibiting factors include economic factors and a lack of training and support. The impact of member participation is positive, such as increased knowledge and awareness of mangrove conservation, but there are also negative impacts in the form of increased workload and social conflicts

Abstract

Mangrove forests play an important role in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems, but their management still faces various challenges, including in Puteri Sembilan Village, North Rupat District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. This study aims to analyze the role of the village government and community groups in mangrove forest conservation and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data are analyzed thematically to describe the dynamics of roles and influencing factors. The results of the study show that the village governments acts as a regulator, facilitator, and initiator in mangrove conservation. The implementation of these roles is influenced by institutional capacity, resource availability, budget management mechanisms, and coordination between levels of government. The priority of village development oriented towards the economic and infrastructure sectors also influences the integration of conservation programs into their management still faces various challenges, including in Puteri Sembilan Village, North Rupat District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province village planning.
