Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the way humans produce and disseminate information. On one hand, AI expands access to knowledge; on the other, it amplifies the spread of hoaxes and disinformation, blurring the line between fact and fabrication. This paradox became the central theme of the community service event titled Workshop on The Artificial Intelligence in the Era of Flat Earth Hoaxes 2.0,which explored AIs dual role as both a creator and a countermeasure of digital hoaxes. This activity adopted a service-learning approach, engaging 70 participants consisting of university students and educators through interactive discussions, case analyses, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. The results indicated an average improvement of 6.5% across three key dimensions of information literacy: hoax literacy, AI literacy, and information ethics literacy, with the highest increase observed in the ethical dimension. These findings affirm that exposure to ethical frameworks and critical reflection can foster moral awareness and a sense of responsibility among participants in their interactionswithin digital spaces.Overall, this activity underscores the importance of integrating AI ethics literacy into public education to strengthen societys resilience against digital manipulation. This initiative supports the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, andInfrastructure), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through the enhancement of digital literacy, information ethics, and responsible communication in theera of artificial intelligence.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a double-edged sword that offers innovation as well as advanced new cyber threats, known as AI Crime. The purpose of this activity is to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach in improving cyber literacy among webinar participants regarding the classification, risks, and mitigation strategies of AI Crime. The outreach was conducted on Sunday, October 5, 2025, via Zoom and was attended by 92 participants. Quantitative data was collected through pre-tests and post-tests. The community service focused on presenting AI as a double-edged sword in technological advancement, which can lead to violations divided into three types of AI Crime threats (with, on, and by AI). The average pre-test score was 94.78%. This score increased to 95.22% on the post-test, resulting in an effectiveness improvement of 0.46%. This high initial score indicates a ceiling effect. This small but positive improvement confirms the success of socialization in strengthening public knowledge. Qualitative findings also show that participants need guidance in detecting deepfakes and data privacy protection strategies. Regarding deepfake detection itself, several studies also describe ways to deal with it, which are by using AI technology and other technologies such as blockchain. In this era of AI advancement, data privacy protection strategies require appropriate regulations, which require cooperation between stakeholders regarding the duality of AI use. Not only that, but we as end-users of technology must also participate in realizing justice in the use of technology by increasing digital literacy regarding AI advances, one of which is through this community service webinar. This research emphasizes the important role of public education as a crucial risk mitigation measure for AI use in this era of smart technology.

Abstract

The rise of healthy lifestyles alongside low fish consumption among young people presents a challenge to local food security. Depik fish (Rasbora tawarensis), an endemic species of Lake Laut Tawar, is rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which offer significant health benefits; yet, its utilization remains limited. This study aims to develop Elpis, a snack derived from Depik fish, while evaluating public perceptions, preferences, and acceptance of the product. A descriptive quantitative online survey was conducted with 50 adolescent and young adult respondents, using a questionnaire that provided information on the product and its nutritional content. The findings indicate that 84% of respondents are willing to try the product if its taste and appearance are appealing, while 75% recognize the nutritional benefits of Depik fish. Elpis has the potential to enhance fish consumption, create local business opportunities, and empower fishermen through supply chain partnerships. By combining innovation based on local ingredients with principles of sustainable entrepreneurship, this approach generates economic, social, and environmental value simultaneously. In conclusion, Elpis serves as a model for adaptive, sustainable, and educational local food innovation for the younger generation, while contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Abstract

The rise of illegal online gambling (judol) and digital loan fraud (pinjol) has become a severe socio-economic problem in Indonesias digital era, threatening public welfare and economic stability. This community service program, entitled Gerakan Nasional Berantas Judi Online dan Pinjaman Online Ilegal (National Movement to Eradicate Online Gambling and Illegal Loans), was designed as a preventive educational initiative to strengthen public awareness and digital literacy. The activity employed a service learning approach through an online webinar format involving 91 participants from academic, professional, and public sectors. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was applied to evaluate the interventions effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants understanding of digital crime risks, with the average post-test score increasing by 9.2 percentage points from the pre-test results. Qualitative responses also revealed enhanced awareness of the legal, social, and psychological impacts of online gambling and illegal loans. This activity contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Overall, the webinar effectively served as a model for community-based digital literacy programs, demonstrating that academic institutions can play a strategic role in preventing digital financial crimes through inclusive, technology-driven education.

Abstract

Alue Naga Beach in Banda Aceh is a coastal area with significant ecological and economic value, but it faces serious threats due to plastic and microplastic pollution. In response to this issue, a beach cleanup initiative was carried out by students from the Development Economics Department of Syiah Kuala University and the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Department of Abulyatama University as part of their community service efforts. The activity was conducted through a hands-on approach on-site, beginning with a site survey, mapping of waste accumulation points, followed by cleanup and documentation of the activity. The results of the activity showed that a total of eight bags of plastic and inorganic waste were successfully collected. Most of the waste consisted of single-use plastic, which has the potential to become a source of microplastics in the ocean. Despite limitations in implementation, the activity successfully contributed positively to beach cleanliness. It is recommended that similar activities be conducted regularly, involving the community, strengthening government support, and incorporating education.
