Abstract

Adolescents are individuals both women and men who are between students and adults. The limit for adolescents in this case is the age of 10-19 years according to the classification of the World Health Organization (WHO). The nutritional needs for adolescents are very large because they are still growing. Adolescents need energy/calories, protein, calcium, iron, zinc and vitamins to fulfill physical activities such as school activities and daily activities. Nutritional problems are generally caused by economic problems, lack of food, poor environmental quality. Based on the initial survey conducted on students of SMA Negeri 11 Jambi City, which was conducted by interview, there were 8 out of 11 students who did not understand the nutritional status of adolescents.the number of samples in this study were 79 respondents. To find out the size of the problem with the dependent variable and related factors, where the measurement of the variable is momentary and only once. After the data was obtained from the results of filling out the questionnaire by the respondents, it was processed using computer facilities and then analyzed into two forms of analysis, namely univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The majority of respondents with normal nutritional status, namely 25 people (41.0%) came from families with high incomes and the majority of respondents with thin nutritional status had low family income, namely 22 people (36.1%). From the bivariate analysis of the relationship between family income and nutritional status (BMI/U), a p value = 0.000 (<0.05) is obtained, which means that there is a significant relationship between family income and nutritional status based on the BMI/U index at SMA Negeri 11 Kota Jambi.

Abstract

Menstrual pain is a natural thing experienced by women during menstruation. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Indonesia is 54.98% for primary dysmenorrhea and 9.36% for secondary dysmenorrhea. One way to deal with dysmenorrhea with acupressure therapy is traditional non-pharmacological therapy, namely by massaging acupuncture points/certain body points to improve blood circulation, the body secretes endorphins causing the body to relax, not worry so that menstrual pain decreases/disappears. This study aims to determine the effect of acupressure on reducing dysmenorrhea. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental one group pre post test design. The population in this study were all female students of the D III Midwifery STIKes Baiturrahim study program. The sample in this study used a total sampling of 42 female students who experienced primary dysmenorrhea. The research process went through several stages, the first was measuring pain scale during menstruation, the second stage was giving acupressure intervention at Hequ (LI4), Sayinjiao, (SP6) and Zusanli (ST 36) points. Acupressure is done 3 days before and the first 3 days during menstruation, done 2 times a day or when pain occurs, the third stage is measuring pain scale during menstruation after the intervention. The instrument used to measure the pain scale is the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The collected data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate. The results of the research analysis showed that before the intervention was given the average pain intensity was 2.67 and the SD was 0.678 and after the intervention was given the average pain intensity was 2.45 and the SD was 0.705, the decrease in pain intensity was 0.22 with a p value of 0.000. It can be concluded that acupressure has an effect on reducing pain during menstruation . The results of this study are expected as information for young women during menstruation

Abstract

Adolescents are prone to nutritional problems due to various factors including: diet, body perception, physical activity, medical conditions, and lifestyle. Adolescent awareness about health and nutrition, as well as knowledge of nutrition could influence that various factors due to nutritional problems in adolescents. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nutritional awareness, nutritional knowledge, and health awareness on the nutritional status of adolescents. The design of this study was cross-sectional with 98 respondents aged 15-18 years selected by random sampling in SMA Negeri 4 Jakarta. Health awareness data was collected using the Health Conciousness Scale, nutrition awareness using a nutrition awareness questionnaire, and nutrition knowledge using a nutrition knowledge questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank test. The results showed that the majority (> 50%) of the respondents had normal nutritional status with sufficient nutritional knowledge and moderate nutrition and health awareness categories. There is no significant relationship between awareness and knowledge of nutrition and health awareness on the nutritional status of respondents (p>0.05). Nutritional awareness, nutritional knowledge, and health awareness are not direct causative factors that can affect nutritional status, so it is supposed that there are other factors that directly influence nutritional status, such as nutritional intake or health status. Future studies are expected to be completed with data on nutritional intake and health status as the direct causative factors of nutritional status.
