Abstract

This study examines the social construction of environmental risks and their implications for public participation in sustainable development planning. development that often has negative impacts on the environment, perceptions and communities towards risks play a role in determining their level of participation. Through a qualitative approach with literature studies and document analysis, this study found that environmental risk perceptions are not only shaped by scientific knowledge, but also by social values, culture, collective experiences, and access to information. When communities view environmental risks as real threats to their lives, participation in the planning process tends to increase. Conversely, if risks are considered abstract or manipulated by certain interests, participation becomes low. These findings indicate the importance of open dialogue between the government, development actors, and communities to build together. Social construction of environmental risks plays a strategic role in shaping collective action and the direction of more inclusive and sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the green economy concept in the development of the education, tourism, and recreation sectors in Palangka Raya City, as well as the challenges faced by the government in supporting sustainable development. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach through literature studies and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of the green economy in the education sector encourages the integration of environmentally based curriculum and strengthening student awareness of sustainability issues. In the tourism and recreation sector, the principles of the green economy are implemented through the management of ecotourism-based destinations and the preservation of the natural environment. However, challenges such as limited human resources, inadequate infrastructure, and cross-sector coordination are still major obstacles. In addition, this study also revealed that the application of the green economy contributes significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the achievement of several sustainable development goals (TPB/SDGs), especially in environmental aspects. Therefore, synergistic efforts are needed between the government, society, and the private sector to optimize the implementation of the green economy in Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Surface roughness is a critical parameter that influences product quality in machining operations. According to ISO 1320–1987, surface roughness is characterized as the arithmetic mean deviation of surface irregularities from the nominal profile. In mechanical component manufacturing, controlling surface roughness is essential due to its relationship with friction, lubrication behavior, and wear performance. Tool geometry and cutting parameters are known to significantly affect surface texture quality. This study investigates the influence of depth of cut using a Sumitomo insert with a 1.2 mm nose radius on the surface roughness of S45C steel machined by CNC turning. An experimental procedure was adopted, using depth-of-cut variations of 0.3 mm up to 1.5 mm. The feed rate was set at 0.1 mm/rev and the spindle speed followed the constant surface speed mode (G96). Surface roughness values were measured with a stylus profilometer. The experimental results indicate that all tested depth-of-cut settings fall within roughness grade N7, except for the 0.3 mm depth of cut, which achieved grade N6.

Abstract

Disaster-prone regions face serious challenges in maintaining economic sustainability and stability due to repeated disruptions to production systems, distribution networks, and community livelihoods. Economic resilience is a key element of sustainable development, particularly in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Along with the rapid development of Information Technology (IT), strategic opportunities have emerged to strengthen the capacity of disaster-prone areas to anticipate, respond to, and recover economic activities. This article aims to systematically examine the role of Information Technology in supporting the economic resilience of disaster-prone regions through an SDGs-based literature review approach. The method employed is a systematic literature review of reputable national and international journals published between 2015 and 2025. The findings indicate that IT plays a significant role in three main phases of disaster management: economic risk mitigation through information systems and early warning systems; strengthening economic response during disasters through communication technologies and digital platforms; and accelerating post-disaster economic recovery through MSME digitalization, fintech, and data-driven economic approaches. Nevertheless, the digital divide, limited infrastructure, low levels of technological literacy, and data security issues remain major challenges in implementing IT in disaster-prone areas. This article recommends the integration of digital transformation policies with disaster risk reduction strategies and sustainable economic development to strengthen SDGs-based economic resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of production factors on lowland rice production as well as farmers’ behavior toward production risk in the implementation of the jajar legowo planting method in Empat Balai Village, Kampar Regency. The research was conducted using a survey method involving 71 rice farmers who are members of two farmer groups actively applying the jajar legowo method, namely the Pulai Makmur and Manggadi Farmer Groups. The data consisted of primary and secondary data obtained through direct interviews with farmers. Data analysis was carried out using the Cobb–Douglas production function transformed into a natural logarithmic form, along with risk behavior analysis using the Moscardi and de Janvry model. The results show that, simultaneously, the production factors of seed, fertilizer, pesticide, and labor have a significant effect on lowland rice production under the jajar legowo method. Partially, seed, fertilizer, and pesticide variables have a positive and significant effect on rice production, while labor does not have a significant effect. The Adjusted R² value of 0.686 indicates that the model explains 68.6 percent of the variation in rice production. The risk behavior analysis reveals that the majority of rice farmers are risk-averse, accounting for 76.1 percent of the respondents, while the remainder are risk-neutral.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of global agri-food systems, driven by technological innovation, climate change, and market globalization, has intensified the need for entrepreneurial competencies among agricultural graduates. Agricultural education institutions are therefore expected not only to transmit technical knowledge but also to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets that enable graduates to identify opportunities, manage uncertainty, and create sustainable value. This review study synthesizes international literature on the development of entrepreneurial mindsets within agricultural education, focusing on conceptual foundations, pedagogical approaches, and structural challenges. Drawing on peer-reviewed studies from entrepreneurship education, agricultural education, and rural development, the review identifies experiential learning, problem-based instruction, and industry engagement as key mechanisms for fostering entrepreneurial orientation. However, persistent barriers such as curriculum rigidity, limited educator capacity, and weak institutional linkages constrain effective implementation. The study argues that embedding entrepreneurship in agricultural education requires systemic transformation rather than isolated curricular interventions.
