Abstract

Physical education has a significant contribution to improving the health and fitness of elementary school students. Through structured and enjoyable physical activities, students not only develop motor skills, but also improve endurance, flexibility, and overall physical fitness. This study aims to analyze how physical education can affect health and fitness aspects in elementary school-age students through a qualitative approach. Data were obtained from indepth interviews with physical education teachers, observations of physical education learning activities in three elementary schools, and group discussions with students. The results show that a well-designed physical education program can foster awareness of the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle from an early age. In addition, physical education plays a role in forming healthy living habits, reducing the risk of obesity, and improving students' mental and social conditions. Obstacles such as limited facilities and minimal training for teachers are still major challenges. Therefore, improving the quality of physical education in elementary schools is urgent in order to create a healthy and fit generation, both physically and mentally.

Abstract

Physical education plays an important role in supporting the motor and psychological development of adolescents. Optimal motor development not only improves physical abilities but also has a positive impact on psychological aspects such as self-confidence, motivation, and mental well-being. This study aims to analyze the effect of physical education on the motor and psychological development of adolescents through a qualitative approach. Data were obtained from in-depth interviews with physical education teachers, observations of physical education learning activities in secondary schools, and group discussions with students. The results of the study indicate that structured and continuous physical education can improve gross and fine motor skills while strengthening psychological aspects such as emotional control, self-confidence, and social skills of adolescents. Social interaction during physical activities strengthens relationships between friends and reduces stress. However, several obstacles such as lack of facilities and variety of learning materials are still challenges. This study recommends improving the quality of physical education by paying attention to the psychological and motor needs of adolescents through innovative learning methods and improving supporting facilities. Thus, physical education can contribute holistically to the development of healthy and productive adolescents.

Abstract

Physical education plays an important role in forming healthy and active lifestyle habits for children. However, in the increasingly advanced digital era, children's physical activity has decreased significantly due to high exposure to technology and sedentary lifestyles. This article aims to explore innovative strategies that can be applied in physical education to increase children's motivation and participation in physical activity. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach in several elementary schools that have implemented innovative methods, such as gamification, the use of mobile applications, and interactive technology-based activities. The results of the study show that these innovative strategies can increase children's interest and consistency in doing physical activities, thereby helping to reduce the risk of health problems due to inactive lifestyles. The implementation of appropriate technology in physical education learning has a positive impact on developing healthy lifestyle habits while accommodating the characteristics of the digital generation. This article recommends the development of an integrated curriculum with technology and training for physical education teachers to maximize the use of innovative strategies.

Abstract

The decline in physical activity in modern society has become one of the main causes of the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Physical activity has a major contribution to improving physical health, including cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and body composition. This study aims to examine in depth the effect of physical activity on physical health through qualitative methods based on literature studies. Data were collected from various scientific journals, WHO reports, and relevant reference books in the period 2015–2025. The results of the study indicate that routine physical activity, whether in the form of aerobic exercise, strength training, or flexibility training, has a significant impact on improving physical fitness and mental health. In addition, it was also found that public awareness of the importance of physical activity is still low, so community-based education and interventions are needed. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating physical activity into daily life as a preventive measure that can support quality of life. This study is expected to be a reference in formulating health policies and strategies for promoting an active lifestyle based on scientific evidence.

Abstract

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the world, including in Indonesia, which is generally caused by an inactive lifestyle, unhealthy diet, and stress. One preventive effort that has proven effective is through physical activity such as aerobics. This study aims to examine the benefits of aerobics on heart health through a literature study method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected from various relevant national and international scientific journals over the past ten years. The results of the review show that aerobics can increase heart efficiency, lower blood pressure, improve blood lipid profiles, and increase VO2 max capacity. In addition, aerobics plays a role in weight control, improving psychological function, and reducing the risk of stress, all of which contribute to heart health. This activity is also considered safe and can be done by various age groups, including the elderly. However, low health literacy is a challenge in implementing aerobics widely. Therefore, ongoing education based on scientific evidence is needed to increase public awareness of the importance of exercise in preventing heart disease.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of regular exercise in improving body immunity through a qualitative approach based on literature studies. The background of this study is based on the increasing public awareness of the importance of body immunity after the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for effective and affordable non-pharmacological health strategies. Data were obtained from various relevant scientific journals and academic books, then analyzed using the content analysis method. The results of the study indicate that moderate-intensity exercise carried out routinely can increase the activity of immune cells such as lymphocytes, macrophages, and natural killer (NK) cells, as well as balance the production of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. In addition, exercise also has a positive impact on reducing stress and improving sleep quality, two important factors that support the immune system. However, excessive exercise can reduce the immune response and increase the risk of infection, so the intensity and duration of exercise need to be considered. This study confirms that regular exercise is an effective preventive strategy and needs to be integrated into everyday life as part of a healthy lifestyle. These findings can be a reference for the formulation of promotive policies in the field of public health.

Abstract

Physical education has a strategic role in supporting the holistic development of elementary school children, covering physical, cognitive, social, and emotional aspects. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method to analyze the importance of physical education at the elementary school level. Data were obtained from various scientific sources such as journals, academic books, and reports from relevant international organizations. The results of the study indicate that physical education contributes to improving basic motor skills, physical fitness, concentration skills, and character building of children through values such as sportsmanship, cooperation, and responsibility. However, the implementation of physical education still faces various obstacles such as minimal time allocation, limited facilities, and low priority in the curriculum. Therefore, it is necessary to rearrange education policies so that physical education gets an equal position with other subjects. Physical education is not only a means of recreation, but also an important part of the national education process. By strengthening the role of physical education, it is hoped that a generation will be created that is physically healthy, mentally tough, and adaptive to the development of the times.

Abstract

Obesity in elementary school age children is a global health problem that can have an impact on increasing the risk of chronic diseases and reducing children's quality of life, physical education as part of the school curriculum is seen as having an important role in preventing obesity by increasing physical activity, fitness, and forming healthy living habits from an early age. This study aims to analyze the role of physical education in the prevention of obesity in elementary school children and examine the factors that affect its effectiveness, including aspects of nutrition, child awareness, socio-economic, and educational policies. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR), a literature search is conducted on international databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science for publications in 2020–2025, from the results of identification, screening, and full review, 23 articles that meet the inclusion criteria are obtained, including 11 main articles relevant to the research focus. The results of the study show that formal physical education is the most influential variable in reducing the prevalence of obesity in children, especially if it is carried out regularly, intensively, and integrated with nutritional interventions and child awareness improvement programs. Socio-economic factors were found to have an inconsistent influence, while single nutrition education and awareness without physical activity proved to be less effective, and education policy support played a very important role in ensuring the success of the program
