Abstract

This study analyze and identified interlanguage and intralanguage form of error found on senior high school students on their speaking video project. This study was design in qualitative research approach which is the document analysis is used during the data analysis. The data were collected through the video project by senior high school students in SMAN 1 Singaraja especially Bahasa major. The result show that Interlanguage forms that appear such as omission, addition, misformation. The intralanguage forms found overgeneralization (ed/d) & (suffix –s), induce error, error of over production, error of avoidance (mispronounce). According to the findings of this study, children faced interlanguage and intralanguage forms while learning a English especially speaking. Teachers and tutors can use appropriate strategies and materials to help students learn more effectively. Furthermore, this study can help us prepare for future research on various subjects and references for applied linguistics courses.

Abstract

The rapid shift of face-to-face learning to online learning brings many issues to all level of education. Primary school as the first level of formal education gets some challenges in its implementation. The compatibility of online learning especially for the lower graders (1st, 2nd, 3rd) are questioned. Therefore, the present research is aimed at analyzing teachers’ perception on the compatibility of online learning for the elementary students. Through descriptive qualitative model from Creswell (2014), the responses from the teachers collected and analyzed. There were three teachers from three primary schools in Singaraja used as the respondents in the present study. From the knowledge of the teachers, most of them were familiar with blended learning because before the outbreak they frequently used it to teach the students. In addition, most of the primary school teachers perceived that students in grade 1, 2 and 3 actually do not suitable with online learning. Yet, in the pandemic situation, all learning activities implemented through online platform. Further, the teachers viewed that elementary school students still need direct guidance from the teachers and real practice in the school. However, the implementation of online learning especially in primary education need to be prepared well and get support from patents at their home.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the impact of digital comic strip in young learners’ reading comprehension. The setting of this study is in SD Negeri 1 Seririt with the 40 samples of young learners in fourth grade. In this study, post-test and control group only design is applied. The data is analyzed by independent sample t-test in SPSS, the analysis is conduct to compare the post-test result of experimental group and control group in order to find the differences in the mean score of the test. The mean result of the post-test showed there is a significant effect (p < 0.05) in teaching with digital comic strips. The result of the t-test also showed there is a significant effect (p < 0.05). these test result confirmed that digital comic strip is give a significant effect to the students’ reading comprehension rather than teaching with only using conventional teaching media, because teaching with digital comic strips as the instructional media give a better result rather than teaching only with conventional teaching media. It is proven by the result of the post-test using digital comic strip is better than conventional media. This result also evidenced that teaching young learners should be with interactive, creative, interesting teaching media in order to foster enjoyment in the class.

Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the language aspects that can be practiced everywhere. However, Vocabulary learning is a complex and gradual process. Many EFL students find it difficult compare to other aspect. Integrating MALL in vocabulary instruction proves to be a promising approach to help the students with their comprehension. This present research aims to investigate the effective Digital Game Based Learning in teaching Vocabulary for young learner. This study used library research as the methodology in collecting the data. The results of the previous study will be stated first then it will be discussed to find the effective Digital Game Based Learning in teaching Vocabulary for young learner. The result shows that Kahoot and Quizizz is the best platform to be used in teaching vocabulary to young learner since both of the platforms offers suitable features for young learners.

Abstract

The development of technology has been touching all level of education. It was important for the teacher to involve technology in the learning process. The common purpose of utilization technology-based in teaching was to make the students more motivated, interest, and engage in the learning process. The use of educational media closely related with its strengths and the weaknesses. This research was aimed to investigate the strength and the weaknesses of PowToon as one of Educational media in the learning process. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The participants who were involved are 3 teachers from Kindergarten level and Elementary school level in Buleleng regency, Bali Indonesia. The data were collected through observation and interview and data analysis were done after that. The result showed that PowToon was chooses because it is easy to use and can create more that one type of educational media. the use of PowToon motivates the students in achieve the learning objectives and understand better the new concept. While the weaknesses were PowToon needs internet connection and not all teacher were able to use the application. PowToon cannot be used in all material that was given to young learners.

Abstract

Formative assessment is important because it can be used to check the students’ progress in order to achieve the learning objective or learning goal. In 21stcentury, formative assessment can be easily conducted through applying technology. Quizziz application is one of MALL that can help the teacher to conduct formative assessment. The teacher at Lab UndikshaSingarajahad been using Quizziz application as a tool of formative assessment in the learning process. Meanwhile, there is lack of research disscussed about how the implementation of Quizziz application as formative assessment for Young English Learner. This study was intended to describe the implementation of Quizziz application as formative assessment for Young English Learner. Descriptive observational qualitative method is research design of this study. The results found that the teacher used scientific approach in conducting the lesson and applied the Quizziz application in “Experimenting” section. Quizziz application can help the teacher to conduct formative assessment because features of the application provides several information such as the students’ performance, how the questions work to the studentsand the students are also given feedback directly while they are asking the question which can catch the students’ interest and eager to answer the questions.

Abstract

It is important to teach English for young learners. Teaching English for young learners are not the same as teaching the other level of learners. There are some challenges that must be faced by the teacher. The challenges are such as providing social interaction, improving cognitive development, creating safe and natural environment, and presenting learning context. Based on the previous studies, song is proven effective to improve the students’ motvation especially young learners’ motivation in learning English. This research has an aim to investigate the effect of using song to teach the students’ speaking competency. This is an experimental research in which the data will be presented in quantitative way or using numbers. The research was processed by independent t-test using SPSS. There were 40 samples. They were gained from the populations of TK Ganesa Putra 1 Sudimara in B level. To get the samples, cluster random sampling was used. The result was there is a significant difference on the students’ speaking competency. It was proven by the result of sig. (p = 0,000). From the result, it is suggested to use song as a media to teach the students’ English for improving the speaking competency.

Abstract

Dysphoria gender merupakan pengalaman psikologis yang intens dan kompleks, terutama dialami oleh individu transgender pada masa pra-transisi, ketika ketidaksesuaian antara identitas gender dan tubuh biologis mencapai puncaknya. Artikel ini membahas potensi media animasi sebagai sarana ekspresif untuk menggambarkan pengalaman dysphoria gender trans secara empatik dan visual. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan studi pustaka, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana elemen visual seperti perubahan bentuk tubuh, distorsi perspektif, dan simbolisme visual dapat digunakan dalam animasi untuk merepresentasikan pergulatan emosional dan psikologis yang tidak mudah diungkapkan melalui kata-kata. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa animasi mampu menjadi media alternatif yang kuat dalam memperluas pemahaman publik terhadap isu-isu transgender, sekaligus menjadi ruang aman bagi para kreator trans untuk mengekspresikan pengalaman personal mereka. Artikel ini juga menyoroti pentingnya representasi yang sensitif dan autentik dalam produksi animasi yang mengangkat tema gender dan identitas.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate first-year English-majored students' perceptions of Grok 3 as a tool for writing supporting sentences at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology (HUFLIT), while also exploring the benefits and challenges students may encounter. Through a mixed-methods design, both quantitative and qualitative insights are provided. This study consists of 63 participants, divided into control and experimental groups. Data were gathered from pre- and post-tests, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. The results show that students generally found Grok 3 useful, easy to use, and effective in generating ideas, improving paragraph clarity, and supporting future writing tasks. Conversely, some concerns included reduced creativity, lower motivation, the need for detailed prompts, topic misalignment, and ethical or privacy issues. The findings of this study have several important implications for EFL writing instruction, educational technology integration, and AI-assisted learning design.
