Abstract

Aim: This study aims to assess students’ views on Integrated Learning as it pertains to the instruction and assessment of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC). In particular, it assesses how students feel about non-traditional instructional methods, such as case studies, presentations, and a final term project.Method: In the first semester of 2007, twenty questionnaires were given out to third-year International Business students at Ubon Ratchathani University’s Faculty of Management Science. Content analysis was used to categorise participant responses, and statistical software was used to analyse the data.Findings: The results showed that students thought integrated learning was a great approach to education in the IMC programme. In addition, the term project gave students a rare chance to combine theory and practice, which improved their grasp and application of IMC.Implications/Novel contribution: This research is crucial. Students are more actively involved, learn more about the material, and have a firmer grasp on how to apply what they’ve learned in theory to real-world problems; these benefits form the basis for the value of integrated learning in IMC instruction.

Abstract

Aim: This paper explores the rise of trilingual education in Kazakhstan and the results of the country’s language policy on the classroom experience. Trinity of Languages is a state-sponsored initiative that offers a promising opportunity for young Kazakhs to thrive in today’s competitive global marketplace. This paper emphasises the need for English learning in the Republic of Kazakhstan, despite the significance of Kazakh and Russian.Method: To gauge students’ interest in learning three languages, we analyse data from focus groups.Findings: The survey findings lend substantial empirical support to the author’s claims about the importance of implementing trilingual education in the academic sphere. Kazakhstan is currently implementing the teaching of three languages in schools. The research is grounded in the trilingual education model that draws on language’s expressive, unifying, and integrative powers.Implications/Novel contribution: A true picture of Kazakhstan’s trilingual education landscape has emerged from this study. Students will use these findings to introduce contemporary methods of learning languages that focus on articulating and unifying language functions and on better understanding the paradigm of trilingual learning.

Abstract

Aim: The goal of this paper is to quantify the contribution of ports to GDP in three different nations. Singapore’s port, Malaysia’s Bintulu port, and Thailand’s Leamchabang port are the ASEAN ports examined in this paper.Methodology: Cargo throughput (tons) is the output variable, and the four inputs (ship count, vessel handled capacity (DWT: Dead Weight Tonnage), number of employees per terminal, and terminal area) are all described in the published data (m2). The weighted aggregative technique is used to construct inputs and outputs data details.Findings: Progress in port efficiency in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand is demonstrated by the findings. Singapore’s port is the most productive of the three and has the least disruption to throughput (TFP).Novelty/Implications: While trade and maritime transport cooperation between Korea and ASEAN has been strengthened, little research has been conducted on analyzing container port efficiency in ASEAN. Since this is the first study of its kind in ASEAN, it can be considered the beginning of port studies in the region. Based on these findings, we can select candidate cities and nations for a port cooperation initiative on a global scale.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of the performance was to compare the Drawing grades of BSIE and BSHE majors. The study’s specific aims were to (1) ascertain the socio-demographic profile of respondents in terms of age, sex, type of high school graduate, parental educational attainment, and learning resources at home; (2) ascertain the level of performance of respondents in their Drawing subject; and (3) test the significance of any relationship between the respondents’ profile and their performance in the Drawing subject.Methodology: The research was done in Northern Samar, Philippines, at the University of Eastern Philippines in University Town. In this study, we employed a descriptive correlation strategy. The sample’s socioeconomic characteristics were determined through a questionnaire administered as part of the data collection process for the study. We also obtained the respondents’ ratings/grades in Drawing from the University Registrar’s Office to use as a basis for quantifying their performance in that course.Findings: The majority of participants in the study performed well in the Drawing subject, according to the results. Students learned to analyze data and apply principles to concepts presented through the project method, which encouraged an exploratory approach. The demonstrative method, in which the instructor shows students how to do something for them to learn, understand, and appreciate what they’re being taught, was also employed.Implications/Novelty: The student values drawing as highly as they do industrial arts and home economics. This study has considered several factors to enhance students’ performance in the Drawing subject area, as there is much to be done to enhance learning outcomes.

Abstract

Aim: This analysis aimed to assess the effectiveness, productivity, and management of one of the country’s national police forces. In this study, especially in the data envelopment analysis, crime management was taken into account as the primary function of the police, which necessitated the use of resources that were viewed as decision-making units.Methodology: To identify productive DMUs, the study combined a Rate-to-Scale (RTS) metric based on scale efficiency with an input-oriented radial measure of efficiency. In the analytical tasks, clustering was used as part of a structured approach to planning data mining activities known as CRISP-DM.Findings: Municipality C is the most efficient DMU based on the 3-year scale efficiency result.Implications/Novelty: Given the current push by the government and the PNP to eradicate criminality and illegal activity in the Philippines, this research couldn’t come at a better time. This research aided police departments and crime scene investigators in identifying patterns of criminal activity and performing geospatial analyses.

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to introduce and characterize Koreans residing in the Dominican Republic and record salient features of their daily lives.Methodology: This paper uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative data, including surveys completed by 108 adults of Korean ancestry, interviews with prominent members of the Korean community, and first-hand observation, to chronicle the lives and economic activities of Koreans in the Dominican Republic.Findings: According to the survey findings, Koreans in the Dominican Republic interact primarily through their churches and families. Although acculturation appears to be taking place among the young who have shown an interest in Dominican cuisine, dance, and music, the average Korean spends little time interacting with people outside their immediate social circles. Crime, government corruption, and cultural differences between Korean employers and Dominican workers are the most pressing issues for Koreans in the Dominican Republic.Novelty/Implications: Despite their contributions, little is known about how Koreans living in the Dominican Republic adapt to their new environment, how they go about their daily lives, and what challenges they face. The community of roughly 700 Koreans living in the Dominican Republic is being studied for the first time in this paper.

Abstract

Aim: This paper aims to show why it is important to keep an eye on educational disparities across countries and how to do so.Methodology: The paper uses the Gini coefficient of education, a method suggested by Hojo (2009) and Thomas, Wang, and Fan (2001). The degree of inequality in educational attainment was measured using this technique, and its historical development in Japan, Korea, and the United States was followed. Then, the Gini index was contrasted with the mean years people spend in school to see how the two measures evolved over time.Findings: The results showed that while educational inequality increased at varying rates across the three countries, the mean number of years people spent in school rose steadily. Second, it discovered that the Gini coefficient of Korea and the United States differed significantly, even though both countries have a sizable population that is highly educated.Novelty/Implications: This is a rare paper because it not only makes a case for why it’s important to pay attention to educational inequality but also explains what it is and how it relates to a more standard measure of educational achievement. In addition, the Gini coefficient was evaluated through a series of comparisons with other results.
