Abstract

Aim: This research aimed to examine how students felt about and responded to using the PIGAI system in their English composition courses. Students’ impressions and responses to AES initiatives were also investigated.Method: Twenty-five undergraduates enrolled in an English Writing Course participated in this quantitative and qualitative study. This study utilized a survey created in 2016 by Professor He, Huaqing of China West Normal University for its quantitative approach. After the survey was completed, interviews with a total of 6 participants were conducted to collect data using the qualitative approach.Findings: Positive attitudes were shown toward the PIGAI system, particularly in vocabulary and grammar, among the students. Interestingly, those students who already had a high level of English proficiency complained that the system gave them inaccurate information and lower scores than expected. They also noted the importance of the instructor’s comments to their development as writers. On the other hand, students with a lower command of English saw it as a useful tool that could help them feel more comfortable with the written word before turning in an essay.Implications/Novel Contribution: Our data shows that instructors and academics need to design writing courses with a healthy respect for the AES system and the instructor’s comments in mind. The findings could provide useful insight into fundamental facets of integrating the AES and instructor feedback into writing lessons.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this research is to assess the proximity of homes and schools in terms of their child-friendliness using a variety of indicators. The idea of creating sustainable urban and community environments is central.Method: Using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and a case study approach, it promotes livability by adhering to basic human needs. Primary data were collected through in-person observations of sites, including examining site characteristics, taking photographs of the surrounding environment and its elements, and examining the children’s movement patterns. Tracking the whereabouts of elementary school kids was also a part of the investigation.Findings: Research shows that neighbourhoods near schools are accommodating to students’ needs. Signage, playground equipment, and pedestrian walkways were found to all contribute to a more kid-friendly setting. The research also found that several contextual factors, such as proximity to pedestrian amenities and the entrance to a school, influence how child-friendly a given area is.Implications/Novel Contribution: The study added to the growing body of evidence suggesting that child friendly indicators be incorporated into residential planning to improve the quality of life for children in urban areas.

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to determine if and how online evaluations of North Korean, South Korean, and American presidents affect their respective countries’ public approval ratings.Method: The HTML and Python programming languages were used to gather the tweets. SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used to analyze the data. An online lexicon and reasoning tool called Valence Aware Dictionary and Sediment Reasoner classified information as positive, negative, or neutral (VADER).Findings: Independent Sample T-Test, Mann-Whitney U-Test, and Kruskal-Wallis Test were used to reject the null hypothesis of no significant difference between means. Despite popular belief, studies show that sediment score does not affect a show’s performance offline.Implications/Novel Contribution: Since using sediment analysis to prove approval ratings is new, this study makes a significant contribution. Researchers have used sediment analysis to assess the link between the online and offline worlds. To ensure a steady data stream for future studies, we can predict who will be president next with our Estimating the next president analysis. Trump’s chances of being elected president in 2020 will be compared to Obama’s performance in office.

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this research is to determine whether or not there is a correlation between the level of competition in a given competition and the level of efficiency or productivity achieved by that market. With this in mind, the study’s primary objective is to determine whether or not intense competition affects efficiency and productivity.Method: The current investigation takes a descriptive approach to its presentation of data. Information was gathered from books and articles already published. The findings were derived from a comparative analysis.Findings: When competition is healthy, the market sends firms clear signals (such as the prices they can charge and the profits they can earn) about the goods and services consumers want to purchase. Therefore, it can be said that competitiveness is linked to effectiveness and output.Implications/Novel Contribution: The importance of the study is articulated through the connection between the three concepts of competition, efficiency, and productivity, which are not fully developed in the papers cited in the literature review. The presented relationship with the existing literature review can be dealt with in future studies, and unfavorable aspects of the relationship can also be embraced.

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to compare the violent tendencies of High School students who participate in kickboxing with those of students who do not.Method: In total, 103 licensed kickboxers from Konya were surveyed, including 18 women and 85 men. The sample was selected using a stratified sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using SPSS and LISREL. The statistical "Independent Sampling t-Test" was used to analyze the disparity between the two groups. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to ensure the reliability of your scale in this study.Findings: The compliance indices are within reasonable ranges, as shown by the CFA results; this suggests that the scale was adequate for the purposes of the study. Finding a Cronbach’s alpha of.66 indicates that the scale is a credible research tool for this study. The study found that compared to non-kickboxer secondary school students, kickboxer secondary school students had lower violent tendencies.Implications/Novel Contribution: Kickboxing, which incorporates a wide variety of martial arts techniques, has not been the subject of any research on violence in young people. Therefore, this research is expected to add new insight to the existing literature on kickboxing’s impact on young people’s aggressive behavior.

Abstract

Aim: This research intends to look at how girls aged 5 and 6 feel about their own bodies in relation to the dolls that have become increasingly popular with girls in recent years and are seen as reflecting a perfectionist ideal of the female form that is seen as harmful to the development of children in some countries.Method: Data were gathered using a Turkish version of the "Demoulin Self-Perception Scale" created by Bencik (2006). The study included 50 girls from an independent kindergarten in the province of Konya; 25 were assigned to the experimental group, and the other 25 were assigned to the control group. For eight weeks, the children in the experimental group played with dolls representing the ideal woman’s body for one hour per day, while the children in the control group were assured that they did not play with such dolls.Findings: Findings from this study showed no statistically significant difference in the self-esteem subscale between the study’s intervention and control groups. Simultaneously, the self-efficacy subscale showed a statistically significant difference favoring the control group. The experimental group was given dolls that did not depict the ideal female form to play with for eight weeks after the study concluded. No statistically significant changes were observed between the pre-and post-tests given to the experimental group.Implications/Novel Contribution: This study adds to the existing body of literature by highlighting the negative effects on child development when researchers disrupt children’s natural behavior, such as by prohibiting them from playing with dolls in their natural environment. Since children usually do this in a more natural setting with their friends, it is assumed that this is where the effect is most obvious. This section may contain the developmental intervention for children. Doing this work in the wild and contributing new insights and information to the field sets it apart.

Abstract

Aim: The goals of this research are to (1) gain a better understanding of what college students mean when they refer to CT, (2) determine whether or not CT can be taught, and (3) determine what approaches would be most effective.Method: Undergraduates studied in a second-year university lecture hall under the guidance of a professor. All students in one class and their teacher are involved in this study. The gathered information pertains solely to the tasks and the students’ evaluations.Findings: Based on the findings of this study, it appears that CT can be taught as a supplementary topic within the framework of a predetermined curriculum. Students’ lists of challenges to CT development and use and assertions that multiple techniques were related to CT development corroborated previous statements in CT research. According to student reports, they are changing their ways of thinking and evaluating aid strategies.Implications/Novel Contribution: To better understand the differences between the experimental and control groups, it would be helpful to conduct additional experiments with these students. One-half of the course experienced interference, while the other half did not. Examining the two groups’ CT skills might shed light on whether or not the knowledge was retained.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to use the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique, a form of multi-criteria decision-making, to rank the relative merits of potential courses of action. Through pairwise comparisons based on importance levels, AHP unites different individuals’ qualitative, subjective evaluations into a collective evaluation of decision-making.Method: In this study, we will draw from existing literature on water resource management and planning to establish our criteria and sub-criteria. Experts in a dam, reservoir, and water resource management use FGD to finalize criteria/sub-criteria because of a knowledge gap between the two sets of studies. After collecting data from the FGDs, the criteria and sub-criteria are used in an AHP to rank a set of potential solutions.Findings: The following is the outcome of applying weights to the pairwise comparisons we conducted using the criteria of social, environmental, technical, and economic aspects: With 36.2% of the vote, the option of raising the dam body by 5 meters is deemed most important. In terms of alternatives, a 0.5-meter-higher spillway comes in second with a weight of 25.7%, while dredging sediments to the same depth as sediment inflow comes in third with a weight of 20.5%, and maintaining the current configuration receives the least amount of weight at 17.7%.Implications/Novel Contribution: All stakeholders must back and contribute to the development of research aimed at extending the useful life of existing reservoirs. It is common knowledge that all reservoirs have a finite amount of time before they must be shut down. Old, inefficient reservoirs are expensive to keep up and close. However, a new dam will not come cheap, and finding a suitable site is uncertain.

Abstract

Aim: The study’s overarching goal is to find ways to incorporate the functional clothing of pet dogs into creative teaching to use imaginative thought to stimulate students’ creativity and hone their abilities by having them put them to practical use while also taking into account the practical concerns of safety, comfort, and special applications.Method: An expert validity-evaluation questionnaire of pet clothing and a pet dog functional clothing rating scale, both ranked on a Richter Likert five-point scale, were compiled after a discussion and analysis of the relevant literature, and the questions were tailored to the study’s aim. Part 1 of the questionnaire is dedicated to the expert and owner’s personal details, Part 2 to the dog itself, and Part 3 to the expert’s and owner’s thoughts on the best apparel for their pet.Findings: The survey data shows that when shopping for dog clothing, respondents care most about three factors: functionality and comfort (12.5%), safety and quality (14.3%), and practicality (16.1%). Most dog owners (45.5% of those surveyed) say they are willing to spend between NT$500 and NT$1,000 on a costume for their pet, and those same people (45.5% of those surveyed) say they currently own five to nine different pet dog costumes.Implications/Novel Contribution: According to the research results, there has been a rise in the demand for high-quality pet products like food, clothing, and housing. Industrial connections made possible through costume design curriculum materials will increase the field’s applicability, pique students’ interest, and bridge the gap between the business world and universities.

Abstract

Aim: This research aimed to evaluate Social Studies and History teaching in the Kabwe District of Zambia’s Central Province. Junior high school students take a Social Studies course covering history, geography, and citizenship. There is no distinction between the three, and all are treated equally.Findings: According to the findings, the introduction of Social Studies into the Zambian curriculum has resulted in a variety of different instructional approaches. Teachers in some institutions were expected to cover all three facets of Social Studies even though they may have only received instruction in teaching one or two of these areas. It’s been my experience that in some schools, teachers teach the different parts based on their own areas of expertise. Despite its many benefits, it was discovered to have drawbacks, such as a dearth of properly trained instructors and appropriate teaching materials.Implications/Novel Contribution: This research showed that the introduction of Social Studies has negatively impacted students’ ability to perform well in history at the high school level. This is because most Social Studies teachers lack the proper credentials to teach the subject. Furthermore, government agencies failed to provide sufficient, high-quality resources for teaching. As a result, the study recommends that the government reconsider Social Studies and have extensive discussions with curriculum specialists and educators about how to best implement the subject.
