Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of waqf literacy, trust, and religiosity on the intention to perform cash waqf in Indonesia, considering that its realization remains below its potential. The research employed a quanti-tative approach with an explanatory research design using a survey method through a five-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed to 35 respondents selected purposively based on the criteria of being Muslim, at least 17 years old, and having knowledge of cash waqf. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 25 after conducting validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The results indicate that partially, waqf literacy and trust do not significantly affect cash waqf intention, whereas religiosity has a positive and sig-nificant effect and is the most dominant variable. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence cash waqf intention with an Adjusted R² of 0.532, meaning that 53.2% of the variance in intention is explained by the model, suggesting that strengthening religiosity, enhancing waqf education, and improving institutional transparency are crucial strategies to increase cash waqf participation. Abstract

Islamic banking in Indonesia shows a positive growth trend, but still faces significant challenges in increasing competitiveness amidst tight competition between islamic banks and conventional banks. This indicates a gap between the potential of the Islamic finance market and its actual realization. This study aims to analyze the challenges and formulate strategies to enhance the competitiveness of Islamic banking, focusing on a case study of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP MERR and KCP PGS Surabaya. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing semi-structured interviews with informants who had internship experience at BSI, along with a literature review of academic journals and secondary data such as official reports from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The findings reveal that the main challenges faced by BSI include low Islamic financial literacy, limited digital innovation, and insufficient outreach in marketing strategies. The strategies implemented involve enhancing digital services, conducting intensive public education, and developing Sharia-compliant financial products based on market needs. The implications of this research are expected to provide practical recommendations for strengthening the competitiveness of Islamic banks nationally while promoting inclusive financial growth grounded in Islamic values.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of multi-service ijarah contracts at BMT Al Falah Cirebon, with an emphasis on the implementation of contracts in the field. The main focus of this study examines the relationship between DSN-MUI Fatwa No.44/DSN-MUI/VIII/2004 concerning Multi-Service Financing and practices in the field, including the potential for sharia deviations that can harm members. Qualitative approach with case study methods. Data collection techniques are through direct observation, review of contract and regulatory documents, and literature studies. The results of the study show that the implementation of the multi-service ijarah contract at BMT Al Falah has met the basic principles of sharia, including the clarity of the object of the contract, the determination of ujrah in a fixed nominal form, and the separation of the wakalah contract. Although it was found that the public's understanding of the contract is passive which has the potential to weaken the principle of ikhtiyari in the contract, the BMT tries to explain each article in the contract to members, so that the essence of the principle of ikhtiyari is maintained. The use of the Religious Court as a dispute resolution is in line with the provisions of national law. Practically, these findings contribute to the development of multi-service contracts that are more fair, participatory, and in line with sharia economic law. Further research is suggested to further examine the role of parties in the contract negotiation process and how sharia values are internalized in financing practices.

Abstract

The institutional reconstruction of Islamic economics and finance represents an urgent necessity amid continuously evolving global dynamics. This article aims to comprehensively analyze the institutional conditions of Islamic economics and finance, identify structural gaps impeding its growth, and formulate an institutional reconstruction model grounded in maqasid al-shariah that is relevant to contemporary challenges. This research employs a qualitative approach through systematic literature review and normative-philosophical analysis based on maqasid al-shariah. Data were gathered through a systematic review of internationally reputable journals, reports from international financial institutions, and current regulations within the global Islamic finance ecosystem. The findings reveal that Islamic financial institutions face five primary challenges: (1) regulatory fragmentation across jurisdictions, (2) gaps in Islamic financial literacy and inclusion, (3) weak technological infrastructure and digital finance adoption, (4) governance and Shariah accountability crises, and (5) insufficient integration of Islamic financial instruments into the global financial architecture. As a novelty contribution, this study proposes the Integrative Islamic Institutional Reconstruction Model (IIIRM), grounded in five pillars: regulatory harmonization, literacy strengthening, digital transformation, governance reform, and global integration. This model offers a holistic framework bridging normative Shariah perspectives with the realities of the contemporary global financial system.
