Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Peranan Orang Tua dalam mendampingi anak belajar Daring selama pandemi covid-19 kelas V di SD Inpres Bakung II Kota Makassar, serta untuk mengetahui kesulitan orang tua dalam pembelajaran daring di SD Inpres Bakung II Kota Makassar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu orang tua siswa dan guru wali kelas V. Pengumpulan data diambil melalui wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi. Penulis berperan sebagai pewawancara langsung untuk menggali data melalui orang tua dan guru wali kelas V. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Peranan Orang Tua dalam mendampingi anak belajar Daring selama pandemi covid-19 kelas V di SD Inpres Bakung II Kota Makassar yaitu orang tua melaksanakan dua peran sekaligus pertama menjadi orang tua dan kedua menjadi guru di rumah, menyediakan sarana dan prasarana kepada anak, memberikan semangat, motivasi, mengarahkan anak sesuai dengan bakat dan minat yang dimiliki oleh masing-masing anak. Kesulitan orang tua dalam pembelajaran daring di SD Inpres Bakung II Kota Makassar yaitu latar belakang pendidikan orang tua mempengaruhi tingkat kemudahan dan kesulitan orang tua dalam mendidik anak, tingkat ekonomi orang tua mempengaruhi proses pembelajaran secara daring terutama dalam hal memfasilitasi pembelajaran daring anak, kesulitan membagi waktu antara anak dan pekerjaan, jumlah anggota keluarga juga mempengaruhi orang tua dalam memberikan bimbingan kepada anak dalam belajar di rumah.

Abstract

Language teachers have always been concerned about the inadequacy of conventional methods of language teaching in education systems. As a result, the language teaching pendulum is swinging from methods to post-method pedagogy, although it still remains in motion. The dual focus on both socio-cultural theories to second language acquisition (SLA) and improvements in technologies wins the attention of practitioners, curriculum designers, and students as the major stake holders in applied linguistics. This has resulted in greater emphasis on the important role of techniques and technologies in language teaching. Many have tried to find a more innovative direction in this respect (Rodgers, 2000). This article, along with reviewing different predictions made in this direction, takes a more sociocultural technological perspective to address the potentially important issues in language teaching in future.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the perceptions of Islamic Education Department (PAI) students on online learning during the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia. The involvement of students and teachers in online learning was carefully analyzed by using the Community of Inquiry (CoI) theory. A qualitative phenomenological approach was adopted in this research. Qualitative questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis were conducted by sampling 37 PAI students from 21 different Islamic universities in Indonesia. The research data were analyzed through the stages of data condensation, data display, and data conclusion drawing. The reliability and validity of the data were further accomplished through audio recording and data triangulation. The findings of this research indicated that (1) the students experienced both benefits and challenges in the implementation of online learning during the outbreak. The benefits of using online learning consisted of enhancing students’ IT skills, overcoming costs, facilitating flexible learning, and improving students’ confidence. However, several challenges were also faced by students in terms of poor internet connection, high occurrences of distraction, lack of teacher-student immediacy, and lack of social value. (2) Based on the CoI theory, three elements were investigated in the forms of teaching presence, social presence, and cognitive presence. In teaching presence, five core issues were identified. The issues included teacher preparation, teacher attendance, teacher explanation, teacher interaction, and teacher’s IT skills. In terms of social presence, student communication, student cooperation, and emotional relationship were discussed. In cognitive presence, three issues consisting of building students' cognitive ability, encouraging students' learning curiosity, and facilitating students’ practicum were addressed. This research on online learning is expected to be used as reference for academics in conducting effective online learning for PAI students. In addition, the result of this study could also be used by future researchers in conducting research in the related field.
