Abstract

Early Childhood Education Institutions (PAUD) in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, face complex challenges rooted in socio-economic, infrastructure, and cultural dynamics. This study investigates the multidimensional barriers that hinder the effective management of early childhood education through qualitative field studies. Key findings reveal chronic funding limitations, inadequate infrastructure, and uneven teacher training as key barriers. In addition, cultural perceptions that prioritize informal parenting at home over formal early childhood education programs exacerbate low participation rates, especially in rural areas. Geographical isolation further restricts access, while fragmented coordination between stakeholders hampers systemic improvement. The study highlights the intersection between structural inequalities and local practices, with the argument that sustainable solutions require contextual strategies that integrate financial investment, community engagement, and policy reform. By placing the challenges of Bone Regency in the global discourse on early childhood education in developing regions, this study provides empirical insights into the interaction between the global education framework and local realities. The recommendations emphasize collaborative governance, infrastructure priorities, and culturally sensitive advocacy to align early childhood education services with national standards and community needs.

Abstract

Early childhood education (ECED) is a level of education for children under the age of seven to prepare them for primary education. In the process, parents play an important role in supporting children's learning. In TK Negeri Pembina Gorontalo City, parental involvement is an issue that needs to be studied because it can affect children's independence. This study aims to analyze the patterns and limits of parental assistance in children's learning process. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interview and documentation methods for six informants. The results show that parental assistance at home has a positive impact on children's independence, while assistance in the classroom actually hinders their social interaction and independent ability. School policies that limit parents' presence in the classroom aim to encourage children to be more independent, although temporary assistance is still needed for children with special needs. A balanced pattern of assistance between home and school is very important in the development of children. In addition, time and place limits on parental assistance play a role in shaping children's independence and social skills, so that they can be more confident in exploring their own abilities.

Research Results The habit of maintaining cleanliness is carried out through character formation methods, especially the habituation method, which is effective in getting children used to maintaining cleanliness. Children are also taught to become a generation that is more responsible for environmental sustainability. Providing motivation in the form of small awards is also one way to encourage children to care more about cleanliness and waste sorting. Involve children in hygiene activities, and provide gentle monitoring and correction. However, even though various efforts have been made, it does not rule out the possibility of obstacles faced in cultivating the character value of caring for the environment, such as children who are less enthusiastic and very stupid in caring about the environment and a lack of adequate facilities.

Introducing hijaiyah letters to children, an effective approach is through an introduction that does not burden children with the demands of reasoning letter by letter. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation in various sectors, including earlychildhood education (PAUD), which demands rapid adaptation to the use of technology in learning. This literature research aims to systematically analyze the impact of digital literacy integration inearly childhood and formulate effective implementation strategies in the post-pandemic era. Througha review of 75 selected studies from databases such as Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar (2019–2023), this study identified that digital literacy not only improves children's technical skills, but alsohas the potential to optimize cognitive, social, and emotional development when designed with anage-appropriate approach. However, the findings also reveal significant risks, includingoverexposure to screens, reliance on passive content, and technology access gaps that exacerbateeducational inequality. The positive impact of digital literacy can be seen in improving children'scritical thinking skills through game-based interactive applications, such as platforms that combinebasic math elements with creative narratives. Case studies in Finland and Singapore show that theuse of Augmented Reality (AR)-based digital tools is able to stimulate children's interest in exploringthe surrounding environment. On the other hand, research in developing countries such as Indonesiaand Kenya reveals infrastructure challenges, such as limited gadgets, internet connectivity, andinadequate teacher competence. The parental factor is also key: active family participation inaccompanying the use of technology has been shown to reduce the risk of addiction and maximizethe benefits of learning. The practical implications of this study include policy recommendations forthe government in developing an adaptive early childhood education curriculum, such as theintegration of digital literacy modules in teacher training and the standardization of evidence-basededucational content. For parents, it's important to establish a clear "digital agreement," such as agadget usage schedule and a selection of apps that have been pedagogically tested. These findingsalso emphasize the need for further research on the long-term impact of digital literacy on children'sneurological development, especially related to screen exposure in the golden age phase (0–6 years).
