Abstract

Interfaith harmony is a crucial aspect in maintaining social stability in a pluralistic society, both in terms of differences in faith and denomination. This study aims to examine the role of the Pamekasan Regency Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB) in maintaining interfaith harmony and to identify factors that hinder its performance. The method used was a qualitative approach through interviews, observation, and documentation of relevant parties. The results of the study indicate that the role of the Pamekasan FKUB in maintaining interfaith harmony has not been optimal. The FKUB is considered slow in responding to conflicts and only acts after the issue has become public attention, so some people choose to resolve conflicts independently. In some cases, conflict resolution is also considered to violate the rights and obligations of members of other religions. The obstacles affecting the FKUB's performance consist of internal factors, such as minimal attention and support from the local government in terms of funding and facilities; and external factors, namely the community's low understanding of interfaith tolerance, which leads to fanaticism and vulnerability to provocation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of the FKUB and increase tolerance literacy in the community.

Abstract

This research examines how religious people and the Hindu community view the changing roles of women in social and religious contexts at Pura Amrta Jati Cinere. This study also investigates new ways of understanding Hindu scriptures that support gender equality and examines how Hindu religious leaders responded to these changes. The research results show that doctrinally, Hinduism actually supports gender equality through the concepts of Ardhanariswara and Shakti, but patriarchal norms in society still pose an obstacle to its implementation. Currently, Hindu women at Pura Amrta Jati are increasingly valued as ritual leaders and important participants in social life, which has a positive impact on the community in terms of spiritual, social, and cultural aspects. There are still some existing social challenges that need to be reflected upon and become the focus of education to promote progress in gender equality within the practice of Hinduism.

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between the Church and poverty by analyzing the social response of the Santo Barnabas Catholic Church in Pamulang Timur to urban poverty. Poverty is understood not merely as economic deprivation, but as a social phenomenon shaped by structural inequality, limited access to education, health, and economic resources, as well as unequal social relations in urban settings. This study employs a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with parish priests, members of the Social and Economic Development Section, social ministry volunteers, and observations of church-based social programs. The findings reveal that the Santo Barnabas Catholic Church addresses urban poverty not only through charitable assistance, but also through sustainable empowerment programs in education, health, and community economic development. This social response is carried out through organized and institutionalized church engagement aimed at strengthening social solidarity at the community level. These practices reflect the Church’s role as a social actor implementing reflective and contextual faith-based activism grounded in Catholic Social Teaching. The article highlights the significant contribution of the Church in responding to urban poverty and fostering social solidarity within a plural urban society.
