Abstract

Religious diversity has become an important issue for organizations. Religious diversity brings many challenges for managers and HR policymakers. Organizations cannot overrule the chances of religious harassment. Pakistani organizations are highly diverse, with a workforce of various religious backgrounds. The objective of this study was to find out the role of hatred as an antecedent and perceived workplace exclusion as an outcome for religious harassment among employees of public and private sector organizations. Con- firmatory factor analysis was performed for validation of factor structure. Convenience sampling, a non-random sampling technique, was used for data collection, and the size of the sample was determined by G*Power (Hair et al., 2014). Using the SEM method, we tested our model's hypothesis with three hundred and ninety-eight employees. Results have shown expected associations between study constructs, such that hatred was found significantly correlated with religious harassment, and religious harassment was significantly correlated to workplace exclusion. In comparison, religious harassment mediated the relationship between hatred and workplace exclusion. Organizations need to address the issue by fabricating a religiously diverse culture with suitable policies and training. By proposing that the negative emotion landscape can trigger a range of socially undesirable outcomes, we tried to highlight the research that may benefit employers, and findings extend to understand context-specific concepts of perceived workplace exclusion. Religious harassment negatively influences employees and the workplace climate. It has severe repercussions for the repute of organizations.

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss thoroughly different approaches to criticism with the help of pre-romantic aesthetics and their theories. The study, first, alludes to the 18th century pre-romantic aesthetics. Furthermore, the philosophical impact of Locke has been assessed in the light of the imagination theories. The theories of imagination given by Bruke and Addison have a lot of connection to aesthetics, which constitute part of imagination. Through a peculiar process, pleasure moves to be part of perception. Finding affirms that Locke’s philosophy relates to human compliance by means of which pre-romantic uses essential contextual treatises. The study adopts an analytical inquiry to accumulate data and then constructs a critical evaluation of factuality and erudition on the information. The findings of this research affirm that the emergence of knowledge has been debated for many centuries. Several literary epochs with a distinguished school of thought discuss and form inquiries. If rationalists portray human thoughts associated with the soul and cognitive views that a soul possesses from its inception, comparatively, Empiricists seem to have an approach that erupts from the perception and experiences as perception embarks on a journey to the blank paper of mind. If the reflection is there, it activates creating ideas, then this empiricism is directed to internality. Critics (Bruke & Addison) may be considered empiricists critics of the pre-romantic era.

Abstract

In the context of informal caregiving studies, the use of resilience as a coping mechanism for mitigation of informal care burden is regarded as crucial. More than half of the caregivers of elderly cancer patients experience at least one suspected psychiatric symptom, including depression, anxiety, alcohol abuse/dependence, and post traumatic stress disorder. Besides this, various studies have supported the role of social support and spirituality as predictors of resilience in protecting and maintaining the physical and psychological health of informal caregivers. But, by analyzing previous literature, there is a dearth of empirical research in the Pakistani context which may examine spirituality and social support as predictors of resilience among informal caregivers of elderly cancer patients. To fill this research gap, the current study aimed to analyze spirituality and social support as predictors of resilience among informal caregivers of elderly cancer patients. In this regard, the current study was conducted using a quantitative research design. By using a purposive sampling technique, the data was collected from 200 informal caregivers of elderly cancer patients from the following hospitals: In mol Cancer Hospital, Cancer Care Hospital Lahore, the Oncology ward of Mayo Hospital Lahore, and the Oncology ward of Jinnah Hospital Lahore. An interview schedule was used as a tool of data collection by adopting the following scales: Caregiver’s Resilience Scale, Caregiver’s Spirituality Scale, and MOS Social Support Scale. The study results were analysed using SPSS software, and the descriptive section of the results indicated that the larger proportion of informal caregivers were male, dependent upon their families, aged between 24 and 29, and had only a secondary level of education. Furthermore, when the inferential statistics of the study's correlation and regression analysis tests were used, the results revealed that caregiver spirituality and social support had a significant and positive effect on the caregiver's resilience to care giving burden.

Abstract

For the past few decades, multimodal narratives hold a unique place in the contemporary world of literature. These distinctive trends of narratives are preoccupied with the representation of highly verbalized self-consciousness and cognitive development of identity. Taking the theoretical concepts of Scott McCloud and Erik Erikson into consideration, this paper explores the visual and verbal expression of Bechdel’s Are You My Mother? to understand the presentation of cognition in a mixed-media environment of the graphic novel. This study is limited to the focal character of the graphic novel, and selected eight images are analyzed to answer research questions. McCloud’s theoretical model deals with visual structure whereas, Erickson's conceptions examine verbal expression of the novel. The findings reveal that both pictorial and written assertion of the selected narrative is overbrimming with dispersed references to the character’s cognitive state. Moreover, it also inspects Bechdel’s complex personality; she struggles hard to resolve her psychosocial crisis in different stages of life but succeeds in accepting and maintain her identity through the therapeutic process and writing. This study is also a call for those who think reading comics is labor; it tracks the way for readers to reach the cognitive functioning of characters in multimodal narratives.

Abstract

In the IoT environment, one of the biggest issues is the devices' anonymity and mobility, i.e., continuously joining and leaving networks. This research aims to explore certain strategies that will enable users to overcome these issues. Fog computing is reclined of central cloud services on multiple points near edge devices. Fog computing creates a decentralized computing architecture that acts as an intermediary between the cloud and the devices producing the data. This decentralized approach enables the users to locate resources in such locations that are closer to the devices. Cloud services are more effective when they are provided with low latency, storage issues are reduced, bandwidth is saved, and QoS is enhanced. Distributed fog nodes can cope with the mobility of edge nodes. Although both edge and fog computing can bring computing processes to such locations where data is created by eliminating the need for central storage, this approach gives rise to unprecedented issues that do not exist in centralized architecture like cloud computing. Anonymity can be addressed by identifying vulnerable devices and evaluating their trust level. This research work proposes a trust management scheme to develop a reliable IoT infrastructure in terms of trust. In the proposed model, trust is evaluated and managed on multiple levels to at the tain quality of services and give customers the confidence to share their confidential data online. This goal will help the users connect to the internet without losing control of their data integrity and confidentiality
