Abstract

English language learning assistance is one of the strategic efforts to improve the basic English language skills of madrasah ibtidaiyah students. This community service activity aims to improve students' understanding of basic vocabulary, pronunciation skills, and interest in learning English at MI Al-Ma'arif Sidodadi. The methods used in this activity include a participatory approach through direct tutoring, the use of interactive learning media such as flashcards, songs, educational games, and simple conversation exercises. The activity was carried out in several stages, namely planning, implementation of mentoring, and evaluation of student learning outcomes. The results of the mentoring showed an increase in vocabulary mastery, students' courage in pronouncing simple words and sentences, and increased student enthusiasm during the learning process. In addition, varied and enjoyable learning methods proved to be able to create a conducive and interactive learning atmosphere. Thus, this English learning mentoring activity made a positive contribution in supporting the improvement of English learning quality at MI Al-Ma'arif Sidodadi and can be used as an applicable mentoring model for other elementary schools.

Abstract

This community service program addressed the inconsistent use of English in an Islamic boarding school, implementing a biweekly language policy that alternates between English and Arabic. Despite formal regulations, students frequently reverted to Indonesian or local languages in daily interaction due to low confidence, limited vocabulary, and uneven monitoring. To respond to these challenges, the program developed an English-use system that integrates structured speaking routines, dormitory-based reinforcement, student language ambassadors, and mentor-supported feedback. The method consisted of four phases: needs analysis and baseline mapping, system design and material preparation, implementation during an English week cycle with shared role distribution, and monitoring and evaluation using observation logs, participation checklists, and reflective discussions. Results indicated improved English-speaking participation across dormitory and public areas, stronger implementation consistency through distributed monitoring, and more positive student engagement supported by reinforcement strategies rather than punitive control. The program demonstrates that effective language policy enactment in Pesantren requires coordinated community involvement, practical routines, and sustained supervision. Although the implementation period was limited, the initiative provides a workable model for strengthening English communication culture in multilingual boarding environments. Future programs should evaluate long-term continuity across alternating cycles and expand authentic speaking opportunities.

Abstract

This community service article reports on an International Community Service (International Community Service) program conducted at Chongraksat Wittaya School, Pattani, Thailand. The program addressed students limited English proficiency, low confidence in speaking, and minimal exposure to communicative English learning. Preliminary observations revealed that English instruction was dominated by the use of the mother tongue, resulting in passive classroom interaction and low student motivation. To address these issues, a Fun Learning approach was implemented, focusing on games, interactive activities, and oral practice to create an enjoyable and supportive learning environment. The program also introduced basic Indonesian language and cultural knowledge to promote intercultural understanding. The activities were conducted from July to September 2025, involving Mathayom (Junior and Senior high school) students through 74 teaching sessions. The results indicate improvements in student vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, speaking confidence, and classroom participation. Additionally, students demonstrated increased awareness of Indonesian culture and basic Indonesian expressions. This program shows that Fun Learning is an effective method for enhancing student English communication skills while simultaneously fostering cultural exchange in an international educational setting.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted at Ban Bangoisinae School, Yala, Thailand, to address primary students limited English vocabulary mastery and low confidence in basic oral communication. Preliminary observations indicated that many fourth-grade students were reluctant to use English and experienced difficulties in constructing simple sentences. To address these challenges, a fun learning approach was implemented through interactive classroom instruction, complemented by a supplementary program entitled One Word One Sentence Weekly Vocabulary. The program emphasized student centered and enjoyable learning activities, including games, flashcards, repetition, and guided sentence construction. The activities were implemented over a two-month period comprising 26 instructional sessions. The findings demonstrate notable improvements in student engagement, vocabulary retention, and confidence. Approximately 70% of students in class 4/1 and 75% of students in class 4/2 actively participated in learning activities and successfully completed assigned tasks. Moreover, more than 80% of students were able to recall and appropriately use newly introduced vocabulary. These results suggest that the fun learning approach is effective in enhancing motivation, basic English competence, and learner confidence within an international community service context.

Abstract

This community service study investigates the challenges of low student participation, limited vocabulary mastery, and lack of confidence among learners at Safira English Course in Situbondo. Preliminary observations indicate that conventional instructional practices, primarily based on memorization and repetitive exercises, have not effectively fostered communicative competence or active engagement. To address these issues, an innovative pedagogical intervention integrating vocabulary songs and game-based learning was implemented. The program was conducted through systematic stages, including needs analysis, instructional design, classroom implementation, and continuous evaluation over two weeks. The intervention combined auditory and kinesthetic learning through song-based repetition and interactive activities such as Fastest Finger and Snake Word. The findings reveal a marked improvement in students’ engagement, vocabulary retention, and speaking confidence. Learners demonstrated increased participation, better recall of lexical items, and greater willingness to communicate in English. These results suggest that multimodal and student-centered approaches significantly enhance the effectiveness of English language instruction. It is concluded that the integration of songs and educational games provides a sustainable and impactful strategy for improving learning outcomes in non-formal EFL contexts
