Abstract

Philippians 1:21 expresses the Apostle Paul’s declaration that life is entirely for Christ, while death is gain because it leads to eternal fellowship with Him. This study explores the theological meaning of Paul’s statement “to live is Christ and to die is gain” and its implications for believers in contemporary life. The research applies a descriptive-qualitative method with a literature study approach, using the Epistle to the Philippians, Paul’s other letters, and relevant theological writings as primary sources. The theoretical framework is built on Paul’s understanding of life in Christ, the calling of believers, and the hope of eternal life. The findings reveal that living in Christ means making Him the center of faith, obedience, and service, while death is not to be feared but embraced as gain, since it opens the way to eternal communion with Christ. The study concludes that this understanding calls believers to live purposefully, remain steadfast in faith, and face suffering and challenges with strong hope in Christ. Ultimately, Paul’s statement is not merely a theological principle but a spiritual foundation that shapes Christian identity and mission: life becomes an opportunity to glorify God, and death becomes the gateway to eternal life with Him.

Abstract

Faith refreshment service is a very important form of worship for the congregation of GMIM Syaloom Karombasan, Manado Selatan Satu Region. This study aims to contextualize the faith refreshment service in the social, cultural, and spiritual aspects of the local congregation. A contextualization approach is needed so that worship is not only limited to rituals, but also relevant to the challenges and needs of the congregation amidst changing times. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach, including in-depth interviews with church servants and congregation members. The results of the study indicate that the contextualization of the faith refreshment service at GMIM Syaloom Karombasan includes adjusting the language, music, and sermon material to be closer to the reality of the congregation's life, but still based on a solid theological foundation. The discussion also reveals that this approach is able to increase the active participation of the congregation and strengthen their faith in facing the challenges of everyday life. However, challenges remain, such as maintaining a balance between tradition and innovation. The conclusion of this study shows that the contextualization of the faith refreshment service is very important in making worship more meaningful and applicable for the congregation of GMIM Syaloom Karombasan.

Abstract

Substance addiction in the contemporary era does not merely create a physical health crisis, but also severely damages the self-image and spiritual identity of the addicted individuals. Social stigma, deep-rooted guilt, and disconnection from God and community further worsen their psychosocial and spiritual condition. However, medical and psychological approaches that have so far dominated treatment often fail to address the core of the spiritual identity crisis. There is a clear research gap in theological studies that specifically examine self-image recovery through reflection on the Imago Dei within the context of addiction. From a theological perspective, restoring self-image is not merely a psychological reconstruction, but also a rediscovery of human identity grounded in the Imago Dei. This article explores how theological reflection on the Imago Dei offers a transformative approach in restoring the self-image of substance abusers. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive design to gain an in-depth understanding of addiction cases and treatment. Data collection involved non-numerical sources using triangulation methods through pastoral interviews, counseling observations, and spiritual reflection analyses. The findings show that deep reflection on the Imago Dei fosters holistic transformation spiritually, psychologically, and sociall ywhich significantly contributes to a sustainable recovery process.

Abstract

Church management and administration play a vital role in supporting the effectiveness of ministry and congregational development. As an organization serving the community, the church not only needs a solid spiritual foundation, but also good management in order to function optimally in achieving its goals. This article aims to reveal the importance of church management and administration and how it can strengthen the church's ministry and mission in an increasingly complex and dynamic context. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical design, which utilizes literature studies as the main data collection technique. This study identifies various concepts and basic principles of holistic church management, as well as their application in church management practices. This article specifically discusses the role of management in managing church resources, such as human resources, finances, and physical church facilities. In addition, efficient church administration can improve services to the congregation, facilitate effective communication between church leaders and the congregation, and strengthen the church's organizational structure to achieve mission goals. The impact of implementing good management and administration is reflected in the increase in the operational efficiency of the church, which ultimately supports more stable and sustainable congregation growth. This article also provides insight into the importance of church leaders who have managerial skills to carry out administrative and ministry tasks professionally. In conclusion, this study confirms that good church management and administration not only strengthens ministry, but is also the key to accelerating the achievement of the church's mission amidst the challenges of the times
