Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a multicultural society rich in ethnic, cultural and religious diversity. As a country with diversity, there are certainly challenges faced in maintaining harmony and tolerance among religious communities. Therefore, religious moderation is key in the effort to create a peaceful and harmonious life in the midst of existing differences. This study aims to analyze the role of religious moderation in the context of Christianity in Indonesia, focusing on how the values of moderation are internalized and implemented by Christians in interacting with a pluralistic society. In this research, a qualitative-literature study methodology is used. Data were obtained from written sources, such as books, journals, articles and other documents. This is done to explore the meanings, patterns, and perspectives contained in the existing literature. The results showed that religious moderation has a significant role in shaping the attitudes and behavior of Christians in Indonesia. Values such as tolerance, mutual respect, and interfaith cooperation become an important foundation in social interactions in which Christians in Indonesia are involved in various activities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Philippians 1:21 expresses the Apostle Paul’s declaration that life is entirely for Christ, while death is gain because it leads to eternal fellowship with Him. This study explores the theological meaning of Paul’s statement “to live is Christ and to die is gain” and its implications for believers in contemporary life. The research applies a descriptive-qualitative method with a literature study approach, using the Epistle to the Philippians, Paul’s other letters, and relevant theological writings as primary sources. The theoretical framework is built on Paul’s understanding of life in Christ, the calling of believers, and the hope of eternal life. The findings reveal that living in Christ means making Him the center of faith, obedience, and service, while death is not to be feared but embraced as gain, since it opens the way to eternal communion with Christ. The study concludes that this understanding calls believers to live purposefully, remain steadfast in faith, and face suffering and challenges with strong hope in Christ. Ultimately, Paul’s statement is not merely a theological principle but a spiritual foundation that shapes Christian identity and mission: life becomes an opportunity to glorify God, and death becomes the gateway to eternal life with Him.

Abstract

Abstract: The contemporary world is experiencing a crisis of truth, characterized by the dominance of emotions, personal beliefs, and ideological narratives over objective facts and moral absolutes. This phenomenon, known as the post-truth era, has significant ethical, social, and theological implications, particularly for the Christian Church. Francis Schaeffer, a prophetic evangelical thinker of the twentieth century, provided a penetrating analysis of Western culture's departure from absolute truth in his seminal work, "The God Who Is There." Schaeffer warned that the rejection of transcendent, divinely revealed truth would inevitably lead to moral relativism, societal disintegration, and the collapse of meaningful communication. This paper critically examines Schaeffer’s analysis in light of contemporary post-truth dynamics and explores the Church's theological and prophetic responsibility in responding to this cultural crisis. The study argues that Schaeffer’s call for the Church to reclaim its commitment to biblical truth, cultivate intellectual discernment, and courageously confront cultural falsehood remains profoundly relevant today. By engaging both theology and public discourse, the Church is challenged to be a countercultural community that bears witness to the truth of the Gospel amidst a society increasingly indifferent to facts and moral objectivity.
