Abstract

The use of a steam carburetor is one way to reduce exhaust gas emissions where it works by mixing fuel and air in the room with an evaporation process so that the air and fuel mixture is more homogeneous. This study aims to see (1) the effect of using a steam carburetor on exhaust gases on a Supra X motorcycle; (2) the effect of using variations in exhaust gas emissions on the Supra X motorcycle; (3) the effect of using steam carburetors and fuel variations on the exhaust emissions of the Supra X motorbike. This research is a research, quantitative, descriptive, comparative, with experimental methods. The research used the 2x2 method which consists of independent variables using steam and conventional carburetors as well as variations of pertalite (RON 90) and pertamax (RON92) fuel. Exhaust gas emission testing is guided by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) with three repetitions, for 20 seconds times the test The results of the study are as follows: First, the use of a steam carburetor produces lower exhaust emissions compared to conventional carburetors on a 100cc Supra X motorcycle. Second, pertalite fuel (RON 90) produces lower exhaust emissions compared to Pertamax fuel (RON 92). Third, the effect of using the type of carburetor and the type of fuel that produces the lowest exhaust emission, namely the steam carburetor using the combined splash and bubbling method with pertalite fuel with an average of 0.52% CO and 273.67ppm HC.

Abstract

New and renewable energy (EBT) is a source of energy that can be created by humans by utilizing solid waste from industrial processing. One example of making renewable energy is RDF. Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) is a form of solid waste utilization that is used from industries and households which have a high calorific value which can be used as a new alternative fuel. RDF is the treatment of waste which is used as an alternative energy material. The materials used to make RDF in this study are coffee grounds and bagasse. For the manufacture of coffee grounds and bagasse are mixed and adhesive is added. The mixture ratio is 100: 0, 30: 70,50: 50,70: 30, and 0: 100 for adhesive concentration using 10%, 20%, and 30%. The finished RDF-5 is tested by testing the burn time. Tests were carried out at the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Education, FKIP UNS. The method used an experimental method. The variables examined in this study are the independent variables, the dependent variable and the control variable. The free variation consists of variations between the composition of coffee grounds and bagasse with the following ratios 100: 0, 70:30, 50:50, 30:70, and 0: 100 as well as variations in adhesive concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%. The dependent variable consists of burn time. The control variables consist of the RDF-5 printer with a pressure of 6 kg / cm2 and a filter used with a size of 10 mesh. The best test results for burning time are 30 bagasse + 70 coffee grounds mixed with 30% adhesive concentration with a result of 1370 seconds.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) To investigate the effect of using the Vapor Carburetor Bubbling method on exhaust emissions produced on the Supra X 100 CC motorcycle in 2003, (2) To investigate the effect of using pertalite and pertamax fuels on exhaust emissions in the motorcycle. Supra X 100 CC motorcycles in 2003, (3) To investigate the use of the Vapor Carburetor with the Bubbling method that uses Pertamax and pertalite fuels to exhaust gas emissions on the 2003 Supra X 100 CC motorcycle. This research is a comparative quantitative research with experimental research type. This study used a 2X2 factorial research design. The sample used was the Supra X 100cc motorcycle engine in 2003 with frame number MH1KEVA153K563997 and engine number KEVAE1561218. Data obtained from exhaust emission testing using a Gas Analyzer installed on the exhaust of a 2003 Supra X 100CC motorcycle with a Conventional Carburetor and a Vapor Carburetor at idle engine speed conditions, namely 800 rpm - 1,400 rpm and variations of pertalite fuel variations (RON 90) and Pertamax (RON 92). The test time is 20 seconds after the probe on the Gas Analyzer is inserted into the exhaust. The data analysis technique used in this research is comparative quantitative descriptive. The exhaust emission test was carried out at the Surakarta Work Training Agency (BLK).The results obtained from this study are: (1) The use of the Vapor Carburetor in the Bubbling method produces lower exhaust emissions compared to the Conventional Carburetor on the Supra X 100cc motorbike in 2003. (2) The type of pertalite fuel produces less exhaust emissions in the motorcycle. appeal to Pertamax. (3) The interaction effect of using the type of carburetor and the type of fuel that produces the lowest exhaust gas emissions is the combination of the use of the Vapor Carburetor with the bubbling and pertalite methods, namely 0.43% CO and 280 ppm HC.

Abstract

The use of fossil fuels in the form of petroleum, coal and natural gas in the long term as conventional power plants causes the scarcity of these fuels in the future. Then the use of new renewable energy such as wind and solar energy must be optimized. In Indonesia, both of these energies have the potential to be environmentally friendly power plants. Experimental research conducted on the coast of Demak Regency aims to determine the potential of wind and solar energy there and the use of both energy as pond lighting. The concept of a combination of solar panels and savonius turbines can produce complementary energy. During the day the battery charging is obtained from a combination of solar panels and savonius turbines while at night the Savonius turbine will still produce electricity. The S-type savonius turbine made from galvalum is mounted on a 6 m tall tower while the 100 WP solar panel is mounted beside it with a 90 slope. This penelitian use expermental methods. Data collection of wind speed, light intensity, electric current, and electric voltage is carried out periodically 20 minutes at 06.20 s.d. 17.20 Western Indonesian Time. Electrical power is obtained by multiplying curr Data analysis in this study uses quantitative descriptive analysisent and voltage. The combination produces enough electricity for lighting a pond in the village of Berahan Kulon, Kecamatan Wedung. The power generated from a combination of hybrid plants can reach 46,2 watts with the intensity of sunlight of 125000 luxmeter and constant wind speed around 2 to 4 m / s. From these results, a combination of turbine savonius and solar panels is more optimal compared to a stand-alone savonius turbine.
