Abstract

Center for Applied Nuclear Science and Technology (Pusat Sains dan Teknologi Nuklir Terapan /PSTNT) is a work unit that is under and directly responsible to the Deputy for Nuclear Science and Applications of Nuclear Technology, National Nuclear Energy Agency. In PSTNT Bandung, the function of the tank is as a container to place the reactor components, the reactor shield for the heat exchanger and as a place for nuclear reactions to take place. In nuclear reactor tank flow distribution ocures in various velocity. The purpose of this practical work is to analyze the velocity of fluid flow in the reactor tank from the inlet flow to the bottom surface of the reactor and from the bottom surface to the top surface of the TRIGA 2000 reactor. The method used in this practical work is the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Velocity method. CFD is a method for simulating fluid flow. The method is processed numerically and then digitally modeled. In practice, the authors modeled and studied the conceptual design of the reactor system using CFD based on Gambit and Fluent applications in a reactor tank. GAMBIT is an application produced by fluent inc. which is useful for making a model and discrete (meshing) to be analyzed by numerical methods. Fluent is an application that can solve fluid flow cases with the results obtained after discretizing the GAMBIT application. The results by CFD shows the distribution of fluid flow from the inlet pipe to the bottom surface of the reactor tank then the flow rises to the top surface to the outlet pipe. The velocity of the fluid flow from the inlet flow to the bottom surface was getting smaller, and the smallest value was at the bottom of the nuclear reactor, by 0.164 m/s and the flow distribution from the bottom surface to the top surface of the velocity value in a nuclear reactor would be bigger by the largest value being on the top surface of the nuclear reactor is 2.9 m/s.

Abstract

Aerodynamics is the study of the flow field and the forces caused by relative motion between the aircraft (aircraft body or other parts) and the surrounding air. The study of aerodynamics involves calculating the speed, temperature and pressure that occur due to the relative motion of an object in the air. The pressure and frictional forces acting at every point on the surface of an object cause lift, drag, and side forces. One way to calculate the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft is by using the CFD method. Computational fluid dynamics or CFD is the analysis of systems involving fluid flow, heat transfer and related phenomena such as chemical reactions by means of computer-based simulations. The goal to be achieved is to determine the correlation of the lift coefficient and drag coefficient of the seaplane, it is necessary to carry out a CFD simulation. The research methodology was carried out using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations at speeds of 20 m/s, 40 m/s and 60 m/s and Angle of Attack 0°, 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°, 25° dan 30°. The simulation results show that the lowest value is at AoA 0^° and the highest is at AoA 30°. for each speed, but at a speed of 20 m/s the highest value is at AoA 25°because at AoA 30° the value decreases causing a stall . value increases with each variation of speed and angle of attack.

Abstract

Several methods can be applied in composite manufacturing, including the vacuum infusion and filament winding methods. In order to apply this method in the manufacture of composites, it is necessary to know which produces composites with a good target ratio of fiber and resin, namely 60%/40%. The aim of this research is to compare the manufacturing methods that produce the distribution of fibers and resins that are close to the target. The composites in this study used a carbon tow reinforcement material with a matrix, namely araldite LY5052 epoxy resin and aradur 5052 CH hardener. In composite manufacturing, there are three stages, namely molding preparation, process manufacturing, and demolding. Then SEM photo observations were made on the specimen pieces from the composite results with three different locations. Of the two methods, vacuum infusion produces SEM photos with denser fiber distribution than filament winding and voids produced in the filament winding manufacturing method. The volume fraction of the test on the vacuum infusion sample with an average yield of 56.79% and 54.01% for filament winding.

Abstract

In the operation of the turbine, various problems can occur which cause damage, one of which is caused by vibration. Vibration analysis is one of the supporting factors to minimize excessive vibrations in the turbine. Predictive maintenance activities in the form of conditional monitoring vibration or vibration monitoring of actual conditions are carried out to determine the symptoms of damage to the turbine. Measurements were carried out using VibeXpert II based on ISO 18016-5 standards with operating conditions of 70 MW turbine load and 500RPM rotation measured on the DE Turbine and NDE Generator. The highest value is in the horizontal DE Turbine 77.04 µm (pk-pk) and 104 µm (pk-pk) on the NDE Generator. This value is already in the acceptable zone to operate in the long term. The results of spectrum analysis that can be identified as the cause of the vibrations that occur are indications of unbalance on the DE Turbine and Overhung on the NDE Generator.

Abstract

To support the optimization of operations at a refinery, a tool is urgently needed that can help process crude oil into a product. The centrifugal feed pump P-100/4 is a pump that operates in a distillation unit where the distillation unit functions to process oil from crude oil into products such as residue, diesel ph, diesel, kerosene, naptha and petrasol. The centrifugal feed pump P-100/4 aims to pump crude oil from tanks 101 and 102 to provide feed to furnace 5, before entering the crude oil furnace which is preheated in heat exchangers 1,2,3 to 4. The P-100/4 feed centrifugal pump is driven by a motor. In this paper more focused on the operation and maintenance of centrifugal pump P-100/4 feed. This data collection method is carried out by conducting interviews with field supervisors, and observing the pump unit directly, and other supporting books. The results obtained are: With a good and correct pump operator system and with capable and skilled operators, the pump operation will always be in good condition, and the life of the pump will be longer. The NPSHa value of the P. 100/4 mash pump meets the operating specifications, which is greater than the NPSHr. So the P.100/4 pump does not experience cavitation so the pump work is very stable. The efficiency price of the P. 100/4 feed pump is 68.40%

Abstract

In accelerating production, the manufacturing process uses modern equipment such as machines and implements a structured program to carry out production. This study aims to determine the process of making winch mount components for Maung 4x4 special tactical vehicles. The manufacturing process begins with designing the product, determining the specifications of the material from which the product is made. After that, the raw material is modified through a manufacturing process to be formed into the required parts. To speed up and simplify the production process, a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine is used which works automatically according to the program made. To produce a desired product, of course, must go through several stages. In production the manufacturing process requires machining stages. This is because the desired product cannot be produced through only one machining process. Manufacturing steps, namely, making component designs, material verification (material verification) cutting processes, bending processes, and welding processes.

Abstract

Vibration analysis is an effective machine maintenance method by analyzing signal characteristics and vibrations so that the condition and condition of the equipment can be identified. PT. The Pertamina International Refinery - Balikpapan is one of the business units of the Pertamina Refinery Directorate whose products are distributed to the eastern part of Indonesia which is 2/3 of the Republic of Indonesia and some products are distributed to the western part of Indonesia and exported. The benefit of the vibration method is to find out damage to the pump early and to avoid more severe damage to the pump. The research method is carried out by periodically monitoring an equipment (pump) with vibration analysis to see the condition of the machine under normal conditions until damage occurs. High vibrations occur at the DE point which is lower than the NDE point. Based on measurements, high vibration occurred at the NDE pump point on January 17, 2023 in the vertical direction – speed of 27,041 mm/s, horizontal direction – speed of 28.21 mm/s, horizontal direction – casing 28,539 mm/s, and axial direction – speed of 26.89mm/s. After analyzing the spectrum, it is known that the cause of high vibration in the pump is caused by bearings that are not working properly. And also because of the Random High Frequency on the spectrum, where the frequency occurs due to damage to the bearings. The overall vibration value in the DE and NDE positions after repair is within the permissible limits based on ISO 10186.

Abstract

Manufacture is an activity or process to change the form of material from raw into semi or finished goods. The process begins with designing the product, determining the specifications of the material from which the product is made. A series of manufacturing processes may include cutting, forming, thermal treating, inspection, and finishing. Inspection duties are of the Quality Control section tasks. These duties include visual inspection and measurement that takes place before, during and after the production process. CNC machines that are operated for the cutting processes still use memory in the form of punched paper as a medium for transferring G and M codes to the control system. There are two programming methods in CNC machines, namely incremental method and absolute one. The first is where the reference point is always changing, i.e. the last point is to be used as a new reference for the next. The second is where the reference point is fixed, i.e. the first position is used as a reference for all steps. Spoilers are panels mounted on the upper surface of the wing that, when extended, both increase drag and decrease lift by disrupting the airflow over the wing. Manufacturing steps of the spoiler actuator are material verification, turning processes, removing burs, precipitation hardening, hardness checking, turning for surface finishing, grinding, honing, hole surface finishing, flaw inspection, and packing
