Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve science process skill of class X-2 student of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta 2010/2011 academic matter on subject matter Ecosystem and Environment by appliying Learning Cycle model. This research refers to The Classroom Action Research with subject were 34 students from class X-2 of SMA negeri 3 Surakarta 2010/2022 academic year. The sources of data consist of information from teacher and student, places and events that happened during teaching and learning process, and also some documents. The data of research is collected by using observation sheet, test, questionnaire, interview, and documents. The data is analyzed in qualitative descriptive method. The validity of data is verified through triangulation technique of data collecting method. The result of this research shows that there has been increment percentage of the questionnaire and observation result in every aspect which includes involvement, team work, and responsibility aspects. The result of this research shows that there has been increment percentage of science prosess skill aspect mastery level from 57,03% on presequence become 74,85% on first sequence and 79,89% on second sequence. If it considerate from science process skill indicator, it has been increament percentage of science process skill indicator mastery level too from 56,59% on presequence become 74,08% on first sequence, and 79,88% on the second sequence. The reflection of the first sequence shows that students having low of responsibility in achieving the learning goal, so the researcher gave further treatment in sequence II. It can be concluded from the research that Learning Cycle application can improve science process skill of class X-2 student of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta 2010/2011 academic year. Key Words: learning cycle model, science process skill

Abstract

The purpose of the research to improve student learning activities in teaching and learnig activities with the implementation of Biology learning strategy Think Talk Write on Environmental Pollution material. This research is a classroom action research. The experiment was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle  consisting of the  planning, observation, evaluation, analysis,  and reflection. Subjects  were  students  of class  XI  SMA  Al  Islam  1 Surakarta  academic  year 2009/2010. Source  of data  derived from  teacher  and  student  information,  observation,  and documentation. Techniques and tools of data collection is a questionnaire, observation, and interviews. Validate  data  using  triangulation techniques  of data  sources. Data  analysis techniques used are qualitative analysis. Research procedure is a spiral model of inter-related. The results showed that the application of learning strategies can improve  student  activities  in biology  learning  in class  X-1 SMA  Al  Islam  1 Surakarta 2009/2010 academic  year. Improved student  learning  activities  can be  viewed through a questionnaire and observation sheet. The average percentage based on observation of student activity  sheets  for 41.90% of pre  cycle, a  cycle  of 73.07% and 87.23%  for  cycle  2.Questionnaire  pre-cycle  calculation results  indicate  student  activity  at  70.49%, a  cycle  of 73.83%, and the second cycle result indicate that student activity of 77.96%. Key Words: Think talk write learning strategy, student activity, biology learning.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to increase students affective ability of class VII  A  SMP  Negeri 16  Surakarta  through the implementation of  Cooperative Learning by Group Investigation method on Environmental pollution material. This research is a  Classroom Action Research with two cycles of action. Each cycle  consisting of four  phases  which is  planning,  acting, observing,  and reflecting. Observational  data obtained from the  questionaire, observation, and interview. Subjects were students of class VII A SMP Negeri 16 Surakarta. Data validation is use triangulation methods.  Technical analysis  of data is technical descriptive. The result of this research showed that averagely assesses  percentage each indicator of students affective responses questionnaire on pre cycle is 66,39 %, first cycle is 76,95  %    and second cycle  is   84,01  %  (worked up 7,06  %). Meanwhile on a percentage point each indicator which is gotten from observation result students affective responses for pre cycle is 48,52%, first cycle  is  72,22 % and second cycle is 82,35 % (worked up 10,13% ). The students interview result are 97,22% students interested in implementation on Group Investigation method, 80,56% students asking question, 83,33% students respond the idea from another student, and 83,33% students find out a problem solving. The  result  showed  that  Cooperative  Learning  by  Group Investigation could increase students affective ability of class VII A SMP Negeri 16 Surakarta class year 2010/2011 in Biological learning. Key Words: Cooperative learning, Group Investigation, Students Affective Ability

Abstract

This  research aims  are  to  find out:  1) the  influence  of inquiry  approach toward  student’s  achievement  in cognitive  domain;  2) the  influence  of inquiry approach toward  student’s  achievement  in affective  domain;  3) the  influence  of inquiry  approach toward  student’s  achievement  in pshycomotor domain;  4) the best approach toward student’s achievement; and 5) the  most effective approach toward student’s achievement of studying biology on X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta. This research is a quasi experiment research with randomized control only design using  inquiry  approach  and conventional  approach  as  independent variables  and student’s  achievement  of study  biology  as  the  dependent  variable. Here, it is acquired three classes as the samples, there are the student’s of class X-1  as  the  control  class, student’s  of  class X-2 as  the  first  experimental  class, and student’s  of class  X-3 as  the  second experimental  class. The  population of  this research is  all of the  student’s  was  X grade  of SMA  Negeri  2 Surakarta. The sample  of  this  research was  established by  cluster random  sampling. The techniques for collecting data are by using test, questionnaire, and documentation. The data were analyzed by anova and then by scheffe test. The  conclusion of this  research are:  1)  There  is  an influence  of inquiry approach toward  student’s  achievement  in cognitive  domain;  2) There  is  no influence of inquiry approach toward student’s achievement in affective domain; 3) There  is  an  influence  of inquiry  approach toward  student’s  achievement  in pshycomotor domain; 4) Modified free inquiry is the best approach to influence the  student’s  achievement  based on  cognitive  domain, guided inquiry  approach and modified free approach are better to influence the student’s achievement  on pshycomotor domain;  and 5) The  most  effective  approach to influence  the student’s achievement is modified free inquiry. Key Words: inquiry learning approach, achievement, Biology.

Abstract

The purpose  of this research  to  enhance  students discussion  activity  by using  of  STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) learning method with worksheets in class XI IPA 1 SMAN 5 Wonogiri 2008/2009 school year. Kind  of  this research  is  a classroom action research  with  the design consisted  of  two  cycles and each cycle consists  four stages  includes planning, action,  observation  and reflection. The  research subject was  XI IPA  5  class students of SMAN 1 Wonogiri of 2008/2009 school year. Data collection carried out by observation, questionnaires and interviews. Analyzing data in this research is using  qualitative analysis techniques, which refers to the  interactive  analysis model, consists of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The validation of the data uses triangulation technique. The results of  first cycle  showed  students  discussion activity  there has been  an increased in  but  not optimized  and  continue in  second  cycle  until the target of  students  discussion activity  has been  optimal  reached.  Based  on the research it can  be  concluded  application  of the  STAD (Student  Teams Achievement  Division) learning method  with worksheets to improving student activity in the discussion, especially biology in class XI IPA 1 SMAN 5 Wonogiri 2008/2009 school year. Key Words: discussion activity, Student Teams Achievement Division

Abstract

The aim of this research is improve quality of biology learning for teacher performance, conditioning class, student attitude in class, and student motivation of learning in student grade of X-E SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura academic year 2011/2012. This research refers to The Classroom Action Research with subject were 39 students in grade of X-E SMA Negeri I Kartasura. The sources of data consist of information from teacher and student, places and events that happened during teaching and learning process, and also some documents. The data of research is collected through observation sheet, questionnaire and interview. The research uses triangulation as validation data. The research uses descriptive as analytic data. The result of this research shows that there has been improvement percentage of the quality of biology learning in every aspect which includes teacher performance, conditioning of class, student attitude, and student motivation of learning. The percentage’s mean of the questioner result in  sequence I is  conditioning of class 72,56%; student attitude 65,14%; student motivation of learning 75,02%, and of observasi data are teacher performance 83,33%; conditioning of class 71,54%; student attitude 63,37%; student motivation 75%.  The reflection of the first sequence shows that students having low of argument explanation in the learning goal, so the researcher gave further treatment in sequence II.  In the second sequence the percentage’s mean of the questioner result is teacher performance 93,33%; conditioning of class 82,69%; student attitude 86,08%; student motivation 86,22%, in this cycle every quality of biology  learning aspects improved in line with the target. It can be concluded from the research that Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) approach application accompained by Subject Specific Pedagogy (SSP) can improve quality of biology learning of students in grade X-E SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura academic year 2011/2012. Key Words: Quality of biology learning, Contextual Teaching Learning, Subject Specific Pedagogy

Abstract

The  purpose of this research is to improve students’ learning interest in biological  study  by  applying  of active  learning  Card Sort  accompanied Mind Mapping strategy at the students of 5 Junior High School in class VII-E. This research was a classroom action research which the research design consist  of two  cycles.  Each  cycle  consisted of four  basic  steps, they  were planning, action, observation,  and  reflection. The  data  were  collected by  using questionnaire, observation, and interview  methods. The  data  collected were arranged in the form of table and graph and then were analysed. The technics of analysing data that used in this research was qualitative analysis. The qualitative analysis described the data resulted from questionnaire, observation and interview during the action research. The  conclusion  of  research obtained  that  the  application  of  active learning  Card Sort  accompanied Mind Mapping  can improve  students’  learning interest in biological study. This matter seen from result of research proved that improvement each indicator of  learn  interest  in biological study  have  earned to reach goals which have been determined that was 75%. Result of mean percentage of learn interest questionnaire pre-cycle was 68,64%, and last cycle was 76,71%. While result of mean percentage of learn interest observation pre-cycle was 30%, and last  cycle  was  81,67%. Research discontinued at  second  cycle  considering goals have been reached. Key Words: Card Sort, Mind Mapping, Learning Interest

Abstract

The purpose of this researh is to find out the improvement of students affective ability of X-9 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta through the implementation of Learning Start with a Questions strategy along with module of Zygomycotyna experimental research. This research type is Classroom Action Research which consist of three cycles. Each cycle composed by four steps, there are planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subject of this research is students of X-9 Class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta Seasons 2010/2011. Data of this research obtained from questionnaire, observation, and interview. Data analyzing technique use qualitative descriptive technique. Data validation technique use triangulation methods. This research show that the implementation of Learning Start with a Questions Strategy along with module of Zygomycotyna experimental research, absolutely, can improve the students affective ability, esspecially in Zygomycotyna topic. This statement based on questionnaire, observation and interview result. Averagely assesses  percentage each indicator of students affective responses questionnaire on pre cycle is 63,27 %, first cycle is 69,53 %  and second cycle is  73,75 % (worked up 4,42 %), averagely  percentage point each indicator of students affective responses questionnaire student for third cycle is 77,87% (worked up 4,12 %). Meanwhile on a percentage point each indicator which is gotten from observation result students affective responses for pre cycle is 46,50 %, first cycle  is  67,64 %  and second cycle is 72,24 % (worked up 4,6 % ),  averagely assesses  percentage each indicator which is gotten from observation result students affective responses for third cycle  is 78,49 % (worked up 6,25 % ). The students interview result are: 94,12 % student interested in implementation of Learning Start with a Questions strategy, 97,05 % student declare that they got more chance to asking questions, extend an idea (88,23%),respond the idea from another student (82,35%), and working in group to find out a problem solving (85,29 %). According to that result, we can give the conclusion that the implementation of Learning Start with a Questions strategy along with module of Zygomycotyna experimental research can improve students affective ability of X-9 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta season 2010/2011, esspecially at Zygomycotyna topic. Key Words: Learning start with a questions strategy, students affective ability

Abstract

This research own the target to increase self directed learning the student in biological  study with applying  active  learning of Student-Created Case  Studies accompanied by  Flip Chart  in class  of  XI  IPA  4 SMA  Country  4 Surakarta  of teaching year 2009/2010. This  research represent  the  research of  claas  action (Classroom  Action Research) consited of two cysle.  Every cycle consisted of 4 phase taht is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting.  Subject research is student of class XI IPA 4 SMA Contry  4  Surakarta  of teaching  year 2009/2010. Technique  of data  complier used cover the enquette, observation, and interview.  Data analysis used in this research is technique analisyse consited of the data reduction, data presetation, an withdrawal of conclusion or verivication. Result  of research  indicate  taht  the  applying  active  larning  of Student-Created  Case  Studies  accompanied by  Flip Chart  can improve  the  self directed learning the student in biologycal study.  Make-up of self directed learning the visible student  passing  result  of enquette  and observation.   Mean  assess  the  performance percentase  every  indicator from  self directed learning  obsevation the  student at  pre cycle is 14,68%, cycle I equal to 41,57%, and cycle II equal to 77,73.  Mean assess the  performance  percentase every  indicator from  self  directed  learning  enquette the student at pre cycle equal to 74,40%, cycle I equal to 79,74%, and cycle II equal to 80,29%.  Its conclusion that applying active larning of Student-Created Case Studies accompanied by Flip Chart can improve the self directed learning. Key Words: Student-Created Case Studies, Flip Chart, Self Directed Learning

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to know: 1) the influence of Problem Based Instruction to the mastery of biology concept; 2) the influence of student’s learning motivation to the mastery of biology concept; 3) the interaction between learning model and learning motivation to the mastery of biology concept; and 4) the influence of better learning strategy to the mastery of biology concept. This research was quasi experiment research using Randomized Control Only design. Learning model and learning motivation were independent variables and mastery of biology concept was the dependent variable. The population of this research was all of  X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. The samples of this research were the students of class X-5 as the control class and students of class X-4 as the experimental class.  The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data about the result of study biology collected by use test and observation. Learning motivation meansured by using questionnaires. The analisis of this research was anava two away in different cell and the advance test used Bonfferoni test. The conclusion of this research were: 1) Problem Based Instruction had significant influence to the mastery of biology concept on X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta; 2) Learning motivation had significant influence to the mastery of biology concept on X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta; and 3) There wasn’t interaction between learning model and learning motivation to the mastery of biology concept on X grade of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. Key Words: the mastery of biology concept, Problem Based Instruction, and learning motivation
