Abstract

School infrastructures are usually defined to include the site, the building and all unmovable structures in the school. The study shows how effective funding and maintenance of school infrastructures influence students’ academic performance. A descriptive survey research designed was used. The simple random sampling procedure was adopted. The population of this study consists of 56 principals and 3,394 teachers in public secondary schools in Kogi State. A questionnaire: Influence of School Infrastructures on Students’ Academic Performance (ISISAP) was used for data collection. Two research questions were answered and two hypotheses tested at 0.05 level of significance with the use of chi-square. Data were analyzed using simple percentage. The finding reveals that school infrastructures to a large extent influence students’ academic performance. However, there are problems encountered in the application of school infrastructures planning which include; involvement of non-educationist expert, shortage of professional literature for planning, engagement of large contractors in school infrastructures planning, poor maintenance of school infrastructures and poor maintenance approach as a result of inadequate inventories. This paper therefore recommends involvement of educational experts for school infrastructures planning, acquisition of professional text materials for school infrastructures planning by developing countries, engagement of smaller contractors in school infrastructures planning, application of well planned strategies by school managers and development of good planned approach by government and educational managers.

Abstract

The question of whether to send a child to a kindergarten or not to give rises to almost every family with small children. Some families are forced to do this, but they are reluctant to take this step due to the cramped economic situation, when all adults work and there is no one to leave the child at home with. Other families adhere to the point of view that the modern child should be in the environment of peers, acquire the social experience that will facilitate his transition to school. Finally, there are parents who highly appreciate the educational potential of a preschool institution and therefore consciously do not want to limit the upbringing of their own child to the family.

Abstract

The study describes one of the more complicated steps in a language learner's phycology while learning a second language. As second language acquisition is influenced by a variety of elements and traits (Zafar & Meenakshi, 2012), this research will focus on the practical consequences of the broad physiological concept of creativity. The research's relevance is in identifying the gap between scientific knowledge and practical application in learning a second language from a physiological standpoint. The study's goal is to put the construct of learners' phycology-creativity to the test in order to see how it can aid in the acquisition of a second language. The research takes into account prior efforts in this subject such as Sternberg (2006), Chamurro-Premusic (2011), Simonton (2008), and others.

Immanuel Kant’s Universal Moral Religion: A Solution to Contemporary Religious Servitude and Conflicts Nyuysemo, Marcel

Abstract

This paper sets out to prove that the contemporary practice of religion characterized by servitude and conflicts needs to be scanned using the lenses of Immanuel Kant’s universal moral religion posed as an antidote to the problems created by denominational multiplicity. From the inability by human reason to obtain epistemologically fruitful results from the world beyond sense – experience, this transcendental realm of existence becomes a source of the ideal of the object of a will governed by moral laws whose uncompromising character make them divine commands thus paving the way for religion as an edifice based on morality. Though morality can exist without religion, religion cannot be genuine without the necessary moral foundation that gives it rationality and universality. We argue that the contemporary practice of religion has lost touch of the moral foundation that would have made it relevant in the quest for an ethical commonwealth or God’s moral kingdom on earth. In this light, a return to Kant’s moral religion becomes indispensable in the resolution of conflicts resulted from differences in modes of divine worship.
