Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed the pattern of Islamic da’wah communication. However, limited research has explored how religious institutions such as mosques utilize digital platforms strategically for da’wah. This study aims to analyze the role of the YouTube channel of Al-Irsyad Mosque Surabaya in developing da’wah communication strategies in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, using video content observation, interviews with channel administrators, and documentation of the mosque’s digital activities. The findings indicate that the YouTube channel of Al-Irsyad Mosque serves four primary da’wah functions: informative, educative, persuasive, and recreational. The communication strategies implemented include attractive visual presentation, selection of relevant da’wah themes, involvement of young preachers, and consistent content uploading. By utilizing YouTube, Al-Irsyad Mosque is able to expand its da’wah outreach globally and develop an adaptive model of da’wah communication in response to technological change. These findings emphasize that YouTube is not merely a publication platform, but a strategic instrument for mosque-based da’wah in the digital era.

Abstract

Stunting remains one of the major chronic nutritional problems and a persistent public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas. Efforts to prevent stunting require not only medical interventions but also social and religious approaches that foster community awareness. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic religious instructors in preventing stunting in Sukorejo Village, Puhpelem District, Wonogiri Regency, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Islamic religious instructors play an educational role through majelis taklim and religious counseling activities that emphasize the importance of nutrition, hygiene, and Islamic-based parenting as part of religious obligations. The main supporting factors include well-educated instructors, institutional support from the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) and the village government, and collaboration with community health centers and posyandu cadres. The inhibiting factors consist of limited time for counseling activities, low participation rates among congregants, and generally low educational levels within the community. This study contributes to the literature on health-oriented dakwah and demonstrates that Islamic religious instructors hold strategic potential in supporting the national program for stunting prevention through Islamic values and community moral education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of guru ngaji (Qur’an teachers) as da’wah communicators in shaping the religiosity of students at Baitul Karim Mosque, Sawangan Village, Purwokerto. The research focuses on how da’wah communication is carried out through Qur’anic learning activities in non-formal Islamic education (TPQ) and how these interactions influence the internalization of religious values among students. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation. The findings indicate that guru ngaji serve not only as Qur’an instructors but also as da’wah communicators who instill akhlaqul karimah values through exemplary behavior, persuasive communication, and habituation of daily worship. Consistent interpersonal communication by teachers was found to be effective in enhancing students’ religious awareness and behavior. The novelty of this study lies in emphasizing the perspective of da’wah communication within mosque-based non-formal education, a topic that has received limited academic attention.

Abstract

This study explores the role of WhatsApp as a communication management tool in Hajj and Umrah travel agencies. The background of this research lies in the increasing reliance on digital communication platforms for religious tourism services, where effective communication is essential for ensuring smooth operations and building pilgrims’ trust. The objective of this study is to analyze how WhatsApp supports administrative processes, religious guidance, emergency handling, and marketing, while also identifying challenges faced in its implementation. Using a qualitative approach with interviews, observations, and documentation, the study provides comprehensive insights into communication practices. Results show that WhatsApp significantly enhances efficiency in disseminating information, strengthens relationships between agencies and pilgrims, and contributes to pilgrims’ satisfaction. However, issues such as information overload, the digital divide among elderly pilgrims, and privacy concerns remain challenges that require structured management. The study concludes that WhatsApp is not merely a messaging platform but a strategic communication tool that aligns with Media Richness Theory, Uses and Gratifications Theory, and Islamic business ethics. This research contributes to communication science by contextualizing digital media use in religious tourism and provides practical implications for improving service quality in Hajj and Umrah travel management.
