Abstract

Background: Maternal mental health issues impact not only individuals but also infants, spouses, families, and communities. Therefore, efforts in the prevention and treatment of postpartum maternal mental health problems are essential to support maternal and family well-being. One form of applicable intervention is a couple-based intervention. This study analyzed the effects of couple-based intervention on marital satisfaction, the psychological well-being of mothers and their spouses, and spouse support. Methods: This quasi-experimental design used a control group and pretest-posttest framework. The researchers used a sample of 38 primiparous postpartum mothers and their spouses. The researchers conducted the research in the working area of the Dau Community Health Center in Malang Regency. Some of the applied questionnaires were the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale, the General Health Questionnaire, the Self-Reporting Questionnaire of Minor Psychiatric Disorders, and the Spouse Interaction After Baby Scale. These were all used along with the couple-based intervention. The researchers analyzed the data using paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests. Results: The results showed that the couple-based intervention provided a significant difference in the experimental group's marital satisfaction, maternal and partner mental health, and partner support based on the paired t-test (p value <0.05 sig=0.00). On the other hand, the control group, which only received information leaflets, did not show any significant changes (p value> 0.05 sig=0.00). Based on the results of the independent sample t-test, the p value <0.05 sig=0.00 was obtained. This shows a significant difference in the components of marital satisfaction, psychological conditions, and spouse support between the treatment group, after providing the couple-based intervention, and the control group, after receiving standard education through leaflets. Conclusion: The study concluded that couple-based interventions improve marital satisfaction, maternal and spouse psychological well-being, and spouse support. We recommend couple-based interventions as an approach to enhancing Improves the psychological well-being of mothers and spouse.

Abstract

Background: Children's habits in elementary school for snacks are often not supported by a proper understanding of healthy food choices, so they prefer to choose foods that contain a lot of sugar, salt, and fat. The lack of interesting and appropriate nutritional information for children makes their knowledge about healthy snacks still very minimal. To overcome this problem, the edutainment method that combines education and entertainment can be an effective solution. With fun ways like games or interactive stories, children can more easily understand the importance of choosing healthy snacks. Objective: This study aims to determine the influence of edutainment on the knowledge of elementary school children about the selection of healthy snacks in SD Muhammadiyah 1 Palu. Methods: This study used a Pre-Experiment type of research with One Group Pretest Posttest Design. This research was carried out on May 17-June 03, 2024 at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Palu in the working area of the Kamonji Health Center. The population of this study is all 3rd grade students totaling 20 people. The sampling method uses total sampling. The questionnaire contains 10 statements and the scale used is Guttman's. The edutainment method is in the form of an animated video that is inserted into the game. An animated video containing a collection of images or cartoons with a duration of 4 minutes 36 seconds is given once about the selection of healthy snacks including the definition of snacks, functions, sources, impacts, and criteria for choosing healthy snacks. The analysis of this study uses the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results of the univariate analysis pretest student knowledge were good at 5.0%, fair 15.0%, and less than 80.0%. After the edutainment method was carried out, the students' knowledge increased to either 60.0% and 40.0% adequate. Edutainment method intervention was given with the results of the posttest of good knowledge 60% and 40.0%. The Wilcoxon test was negative rank 0, positive rank 20 and ties 0 p-value was 0.001<0.05. Conclusion: The edutainment method has an effect on increasing knowledge about the selection of healthy snacks in students at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Palu. It is hoped that homeroom teachers can motivate students to further improve the habit of choosing healthy snacks with more interesting learning methods such as Edutainment, which is learning that is inserted with games to make the learning process more fun.

Abstract

Background: The integration of MBBR and activated carbon merges effective biological degradation with superior adsorption capabilities, enhancing pollutant removal while addressing the limitations of each technology individually. This hybrid system is ideal for small facilities, offering comprehensive, cost-effective wastewater treatment with a flexible design and low operational costs. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of hybrid Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) and activated carbon technology for wastewater treatment of health centers in Makassar City. Methods: The research was conducted experimentally using three variations of contact time (2, 4, and 6 hours), and the physical and chemical parameters measured, namely Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), ammonia (NH₃), temperature, and pH, were measured before and after treatment. The data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test to test differences between treatments and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test to evaluate the significance of differences before and after treatment. Results: The results showed that this hybrid system reduced BOD by 80.41%, COD by 81.40%, and NH₃ by 79.38%, with the highest efficiency achieved at a contact time of 6 hours. Temperature (28-28.5°C) and pH (7.2-7.9) remained stable throughout the treatment process, supporting the performance of microorganisms in MBBR. The novelty of this research lies in the combination of MBBR biodegradation mechanism with activated carbon adsorption, which not only improves the pollutant removal efficiency but also enables its application to small-scale health facilities such as public health center with simple design and low operational cost. Conclusion: This technology offers a practical and sustainable solution for wastewater management in primary healthcare facilities, significantly contributing to developing environmentally friendly technologies and supporting policy-making related to wastewater management in Indonesia.
