Abstract

The synthesis of zeolite from fly ash has been investigated. The method used for the synthesis of zeolite in this research is the smelting method followed by a hydrothermal process. The zeolite synthesis was characterized using XRD and SEM. Based on the research results, it was found that fly ash can be synthesized into Na-P zeolite with morphology like coral, and cancrinite zeolite and sodalite with morphology like seaweed. The optimum condition for zeolite synthesis occurred at a hydrothermal process at 160°C for 24 hours with the formation of cancrinite zeolite. The synthesized zeolite resulting from the separation of 4 M of HCl formed Na-P zeolite and silica phase crystals which had the most optimum absorption of ammonium with an adsorption capacity of 18.025 mg/g with the adsorption kinetics model in the form of pseudo-second-order with a constant rate of 0.557 h-1 .

Abstract

Aluminum wastes are widespread in the El Oued region of south-eastern Algeria, particularly in Aluminium workshops and factories. Because aluminum has a high heat conductivity, it can be used to increase the performance of solar stills. Two comparable solar stills were tested for this; one was used as reference solar still SSR, while the other contained Aluminium waste and was used as a modified solar still SSM. When compared to the reference still SSR, the results demonstrate that there is a 33.72 % improvement.

Abstract

Plants had already long been utilized as medicines to treat illnesses. Theobroma cocoa is a plant with antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant, antiemetic, larvicidal, hepatoprotective, anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory, antimalarial, anthelmintic, antiarthritic, wound healing, and anticarcinogenic potential. The purpose of this study was to look into the phytochemical compositions of crude extracts of Theobroma cocoa leaves and stem (bark) materials. Carbohydrates, saponins, and phlobatannins were found in higher concentrations in both the stem (bark) and the leaves, whereas tannins, glycosides, resins, and alkaloids were found in lower concentrations in both samples. Depending on the solvent used for extraction, different phytochemical compositions are obtained in each part of the tree. However, for the majority of the phytochemicals, water extraction yielded higher concentrations.

Abstract

Assessment of the possible impact of spent engine oil on the soil ecosystem is imperative for the determination of environmental acceptability. This study investigated this impact ex-situ using standard laboratory tools to determine the following parameters: pH, temperature, moisture content, and total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH).   The experiment demonstrated that at 1.0 – 3.5% contamination over time across days-zero to -28, spent engine oil upset the physicochemical equilibrium of the soil. A significantly reduced (p<0.05) pH in the range of 7.1 ± 0.00 to 6.2 ± 0.00 meant that the soil was acidic with a significant (p<0.05) increase in temperature from 33 ± 0.00 to 35.5 ± 0.03oC at increased concentrations overtime. The moisture content increased significantly (p<0.05) from 3.5 ± 0.00 to 19.31 ± 0.01% following the significant increase (p<0.05) in total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) from 0.002 ± 0.00 to 0.084 ± 0.00. This presupposed a hydrocarbon polluted soil ecosystem with oxygen deprivation; a demonstration of disturbed ecological equilibrium.

Abstract

This research paper explores sustainable urban development strategies aimed at upgrading slums and improving the environmental conditions within these settlements. Slums, characterized by substandard housing, inadequate access to basic services, and environmental degradation, pose significant challenges to urban areas worldwide. This study examines various approaches and interventions that promote sustainable development, focusing on slum upgrading and environmental improvement. By analyzing successful case studies, policy frameworks, and best practices, this research aims to identify effective strategies for creating inclusive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable urban communities.

Abstract

The Balanites aegyptiaca is an important tree found in some African countries. This study aimed to assess the seeds of the Balanites aegyptiaca physicochemically and phytochemically. pH, Moisture, ash, protein, and lipid contents of Balanites aegyptiaca seeds are 5.8, 2.10%, 5.6%, 17.5%, and 10.7%, respectively. The mineral elements analysis showed that the Balanites aegyptiaca is rich in calcium (247.4 mg/100 g), potassium (140 mg/100 g), sodium (30 mg/100 g), magnesium (24.6 mg/100 g), iron (8.50 mg/100 g) and zinc (5.50 mg/100 g). The result suggests that the seeds of Balanites aegyptiaca fruits could contribute greatly towards meeting the human nutritional requirement for normal growth. The presence of several phytochemical compounds showed high therapeutic potential of Balanites aegyptiaca and it can take for medicinal purposes after determining the seeds pharmacologically.

Abstract

In the present paper, the electrodynamic and photovoltaic devices were analyzed. The methods used were modeling of accumulated loads, differential geometry for Solitonials, and generalized Piezo-electricity. Models for dynamic capacitors in the WFB are derived. The analysis is based on observations and experimental results. The experiment was done by providing AC-power background and attaching an NPN-Sun-Catcher. Then, the designed equipment was evaluated in terms of the one-way elasto-electricity and photovoltaic process. The realizations of this designed equipment are suitable for educational purposes. And, this equipment with small encapsulated components operating in higher-power applications can be implemented as realistic solutions for solar-related uses.

Abstract

Wasted sweet potato peel waste is a classic problem in Indonesia, therefore the use of sweet potato peel as biomass for bio-battery production can be used as a solution to this problem. This study aimed to determine the benefits of sweet potato peels and orange solution as biomass for bio-battery production. The main novelties in this study are (1) Used sweet potato peels as bio-battery Material that have never been used in previous studies. (2) Used sweet potato peel as fixed variable and lime juice as independent variable, and (3) Tested the sweet potato peel and lime juice pasta into the clock. This method is done by smoothing the skin of the sweet potato with the addition of 40 mL of lime solution to form a paste. The lime solution used in this study was 0; 5; 10; 15%. Then measure the voltage of the bio-battery and test the wall clock with the bio-battery. The experimental results showed that the sweet potato peel paste with a lime solution produced the same voltage as an ordinary battery at a concentration of 10% with a value of 1.47 V. The bio-battery with the highest concentration variation is not necessarily the best, that's because the pH value affects the current and voltage. The conclusion of this research is that sweet potato peel and lime solution can be used as electrolytes in bio-battery production with optimal variation of 5 and 10%. This study demonstrates the utilization of sweet potato peel waste as an alternative biomass for bio-battery production.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the scope of research on briquettes using bibliometric analysis and data mapping processes. The research data used is obtained from published journals. The search was conducted using the publish or perish application with the keyword "briquette'. The search process is based on topic areas with titles, keywords, and abstracts in the study material. The mapping process is carried out using VOSviewer. A total of 973 relevant articles were found. The results showed that research on briquettes has decreased over the past three years, namely 2020, 2021, and 2022. The decline was caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Through VOSviewer we analyze the number of articles that have been published about the material and its relationship with the topic area. This review can certainly provide a reference point for further research related to the material.
