Journal of Language Teaching Lingustics and Literature is a journal devoted to the publication of original papers published by Melekliterasi press. It is a peer-reviewed and open access journal of humanity studies, including linguistics, literature, philosophy, psychology, law, education, communication science and cultural studies. Journal of Language Teaching Lingustics and Literature accept paper in English. Authors who want to submit their manuscript to the editorial office of Journal of Language Teaching Lingustics and Literature should obey the writing guidelines. If the manuscript submitted is not appropriate with the guidelines or written in a different format, it will be rejected by editors before further reviewed. The editors will only accept the manuscripts which meet the assigned format. Journal of Language Teaching Lingustics and Literature is published twice per year: December and May. the Author can write the manuscript in English and Indonesian. Abstract

This research aims to analyze discourse using Michel Foucault's model in the Jawa Pos newspaper which discusses the National Human Rights Commission Investigating the Wadas Village Incident. Discourse analysis is used as an approach to understanding the construction of discourse in mass media or news information and its influence on society's social views. In this research, Michel Foucault's concept of discourse analysis is the main theoretical basis. The discourse analysis method is carried out by paying attention to five important aspects, namely representation, misrepresentation, marginalization, and delegitimization. Text analysis involves analysis using a descriptive approach to outline Foucault's discourse analysis related to the phenomenon in the Jawa Pos newspaper with the title Komnas HAM Investigates the Wadas Village Incident. The results of this research provide a deeper understanding of how the discourse in the news text is constructed and influences the social views of readers. Apart from that, this research also provides an understanding of the role of mass media in conveying information and public opinion on this issue. Thus, this research contributes to the field of Michel Foucault's critical discourse analysis and applies this approach in the context of reporting by the National Human Rights Commission Investigating the Wadas Village Incident.       Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis,Michel Foucault,Jawa Pos

Abstract

Parents have a role in educating, motivating, facilitating and guiding children. The role of parents in providing motivation to children is very important and is highly expected when educating, however, there are challenges in providing motivation to learn which are influenced by several factors, making children's enthusiasm for learning low. This research aims to describe the role of parents in learning motivation in grade 1 students at SD Negeri 1 Dibal using qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. The subjects of this research were the parents of 7 grade 1 students at SD Negeri 1 Dibal. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of research that has been conducted, it shows that parents of students have played an active role in providing learning motivation to their children. The roles provided include providing learning facilities, giving rewards in the form of praise or goods, guiding, helping, monitoring and directing children in learning. However, there are obstacles in the availability of time and economic level. This condition influences children's willingness or motivation to learn less than optimally.

Abstract

Students learning achievements at school will certainly not be separated from family interference, especially significant others, namely father and mother. Family is the smallest group of human life which generally consists of father, mother and children. The role of parents in parenting is very influential for children. Not only mothers, father figures are also very important in terms of parenting. Not only is he obliged to earn a living and meet living expenses, fathers also have a role and obligation to educate their children. The absence of the father's role referred to here is the physical and psychological absence in the child's life. Known by the terms fatherless, father absence, father loss or father hunger. The physical absence of a father's role can be caused by death, departure, divorce, and other family problems. Fatherlessness is the absence of a father's role and figure in a child's life. Because we know that fatherlessness has a big influence on children's psychology, which can result in children becoming often moody, having difficulty concentrating, which ultimately results in their learning achievement decreasing

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of the importance of  English  skill  in  operational  departments from the point of  view  of  a hotel  employee.  This  research  is qualitative research since the data obtained are in a form of  description  which is  in  non-numerical  data that focuses on the study of  meaning. The data are collected  through  questionnaire  with  closed ended questions. The research findings show that from seven English  skills,  there are four highest perceived importance    skills    to   have   as   an   operational department employee. They are listening skill, speaking skill, writing skill, and grammar in speaking skill.

Abstract

The study aims to describe and analyze the form and meaning of imperative that is used by the English class students at STP Sahid Surakarta when they are practicing speaking skills in the class. The benefit of the research is to increase the insight regarding the form and meaning of imperative students in the classroom dialogue at STP Sahid Surakarta. The study used descriptive qualitative in analyzing the imperative sociopragmatics used by the students. It can be categorized in qualitative research. The researcher used observation and documentation to collect data in this study. The method of presenting and analyzing data is by using a flowchart model. The researcher uses triangulation to determine trustworthiness. This research concludes that there are five imperative forms. Those are the imperative meaning of the invitation in 10 sentences, the imperative meaning of ordering in 9 sentences, the imperative for granting permission in 8 sentences, the imperative for requesting in 7 sentences, and the imperative for prohibition in 6 sentences.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the role of poster presentations in facilitating English listening skills in Indonesian EFL classrooms. The research problem revolves around the effectiveness of poster presentations as a teaching method for improving listening skills in English language learning. The qualitative inquiry method was utilized, involving observations and interviews with both students and teachers. This allowed for a deeper understanding of the impact of poster presentations on students' listening comprehension in the EFL context. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on poster presentations as a specific pedagogical tool for enhancing listening skills in a non-native English-speaking environment. This research contributes to the existing literature by providing insights into the potential of visual aids, such as posters, in improving English listening proficiency. The results of the study revealed that poster presentations can significantly contribute to the development of English listening skills among Indonesian EFL learners. The findings demonstrate the value of incorporating visual and auditory elements together in language learning activities, and highlight the potential of poster presentations as a valuable teaching strategy in EFL classrooms.
