Abstract

ABSTRACT Antiretroviral therapy was a therapy that taken by people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) to increase their life quality. Although it hasn’t been able to cure disease but antiretroviral therapy could suppress viral load and increase CD4 of PLWHA. More of people living with HIV/AIDS who received ARV, hope their life quality be better if ARV was used obediently. Adherence was a patient's behavior to comply with the provisions given by health workers that include discipline and obedience. To assure adherence, it was critical for patient to receive and understand information about ARV, the ability/ willingness of long-term treatment, the drug-resistance, the side effects, the range of medicines and the time to initiate of therapy. This research aimed to know the associated factors of PLWHA’s adherence at RSU. dr. Pirngadi Medan in 2012. The design of this research was a cross sectional analytic with sample of 59 respondents and obtained by Accidental Sampling. The data analysis were used univariate and bivariate with Chi square test. By the univariate analysis known that respondents had a good knowledge (52.5%), good perception (76.3%), better health services (71.2%). Furthermore social support included in the medium category (57.6%) and adherence of PLHIV was high (57.6%). By the results of bivariate known that there was no associated between knowledge of ARV on adherence (p = 0.648) and there was no associated between perception on adherence (p = 0.231). In addition it was known that there was a associated between social support on adherence (p = 0.047) and there was a associated between health service to the perception patient undergoing ARV (p = 0.040). Health services and all levels of society were expected to continue to provide full support to them so as instill obedience and discipline to patient during undergo treatment and care with antiretroviral therapy.

Abstract

Breakfast is the food and drink that provide energy and other nutrientsthat were consumed in the morning. Breakfast is human need that should beregularly. Humans need to have breakfast,because it use to supply the sufficiencyof energy for daily activities. If you don’t have itt, your body will not have energyto do your activity.This study was aimed to determine factors that influence mother behaviorin the provision of breakfast to children in elementary school of St.Thomas 1Medan. Some factor that influence were age, education, employment, knowledgeand attitude. This research was a quantitative analytic study. The population ofthis study were all of students in St. Thomas 1 elementary school and 85 mothersof the student. The sampling technique was using stratified random sampling. Thedata was obtained by questionnaires and interviews and analyzed used Chi-Square test.The research results showed that there was no correlation (p> 0.05)between age, education, employment and mother’s behavior on giving breakfastand there was a correlation (p <0.05) between knowledge, attitude and mother’sbehavior on giving breakfast.As recommendation in this study, the parents should give more attentionand increase nutrition needs, especially in its quality and breakfast behavior oftheir children.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Treatment search process is a process performed by a person in response to pathological reactions that occur within his body. The search process is made up of medical knowledge and attitude towards his condition. Knowledge and attitudes can be formed of a good education. Clumps student health faculty learn it so, it would be good to see how the image of student behavior in the process searching of  medical treatment. This type of research is a descriptive study with a survey method. The population in this study were all students of the Faculty of Medicine (FK), School of Public Health (FKM) and School of Nursing (FKep) University of North Sumatra regular program who active force from 2009 to 2012 with a sample size of 93 student. The samples came from 44 medical students, 35 public health students and 14 students of Nursing Faculty. Presentation of data using frequency distribution tables. The results showed that the characteristics of the respondents had been studying for 2 and 4 semesters as many as 28 students (30.1%), female sex as many as 59 students (63.4%), with the 19-20 year age group as many as 48 students (51, 2%) and the Batak tribe as many as 42 students (45.2%). Media Information shows, respondents read 2-3 types of information as many as 44 students (47.3%), with less than 3 types of search as much information as 33 students (35.5%) and considered the best media to inform the treatment of less than 3 as many as 56 types of students (60.2%). Categories of knowledge respondents are in good category as many as 79 students (84.9%), the attitude of the respondents were in either category were 68 students (73.1%) and respondents' actions are in either category were 72 students (77.4%). Abstract

ABSTRACT Problems is teenagers specifically college students shows the increasing symptoms qualitatively and quantitatively, one of which is sexual behaviour. This research intend to know the relationship of boarding students toward premarital sexual behavior which includes the relationship between knowledge and motivation of students boarding againts in Jalan Sei Padang Kelurahan Padang Bulan Selayang I Medan premarital sexual action. This research is a survey research descriptive-analitic. The population in this study were all students aged 18-24 years in both man and women living in the boarding house and rental house in Jalan Sei Padang Kelurahan Padang Bulan Selayang I Medan. The total sample is 61 people, with the sample collecting technique using purposive sampling. The data was collected using a questionnaire as a guide when conducting the interview questions. Based on the research results obtained that there was no correlation (p>0,05) between knowledge, intrinsic motivation toward premarital sexual activity and there was a correlation (p<0,05) between extrinsic motivation toward premarital sexual action. Based on the conclusions is need the suggested for parental guidance in term of religion and moral value instilled within the child, so that children are not compelled to perform deviant behavior especially sexual behavior. The need to provide information and counseling to the manager or owner of the boarding house to be more vigilant and more stringent to provide supervision to students who live in the boarding house where they manage.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Health development began to face a new disease patterns, the rise in non-communicable diseases are triggered changes in people's lifestyles such as diet low in fiber and high in fat and salt and excessive sugar consumption, lack of physical activity (sports) and the prevalence of cigarette consumption continues to increase. Smoking is harmful to the health of a student, it is necessary to do research on how to Influence Lifestyle Against Smoking Behavior At School of Economics Student Expectations (STIE-Hope) Medan in 2012. Type of research is cross sectional study to investigate the effect of lifestyle on student smoking behavior. Sampling using purposive sampling criteria that students who smoked active on campus as many as 31 people. The results of this study indicate that the independent variables are the three components of lifestyle (Activities, Interests, Opinion) had a p value <0.05 so that the three independent variables had a significant influence on student smoking behavior. Of the three components of the lifestyle, the most influential variable is subjective variable with a value B of 69.610. Therefore, the Hope School of Economics (STIE-Hope) field should be more Akif for attaching banners, posters, and provide information about the dangers of smoking and enforce a no-smoking on campus

Abstract

Health development aims to increase awareness, willingness and ability of each person to realize the degree of public health as high. Socialization is the process through which a child learns to be a participating member of society. Through this learning process one can take decisions in determining the searching pattern of medical treatment through family, playmate, school , and mass media, but schools are not included in this research due to non-exact student do not learn about health . This research was conducted to determine the influence of socialization agents on the searching pattern of medical treatment on clumps student non-exact faculty of University of Sumatera Utara in Medan in 2013. This research is using quantitative research methods. The data was collected through direct interviews with respondents. The population of this research were all student of non-exact faculty year 2010-2012 of University of Sumatera Utara by 10.784 people, and the sample size were 95 people taken with Proportional Random Sampling methods. The results showed male respondents (46.3%), female (53,7%), age 18 (14,7%), age 19 (18,9%), age 20 (30,5%), age 21 (26,3%), age 22 (9,5%), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (29,5%), School of Law (20,0%), Faculty of Humanities (17,9%), Faculty of economics (32,6%). Statistical test of bivariate analysis showed that family were not related with students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,099>0,05), playmate were related with students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,01<0,05), mass media were not related with students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,420>0,05). Statistical test of multivariat showed that family were not influence students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,105>0,05), playmate were influence students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,01<0,05) . Students of non-exact faculty of University of Sumatera Utara needs to improve the search of information about searching pattern of medical treatment for himself and to influence his friends as an agents of socialization. University of Sumatera Utara also need to provide information about searching pattern of medical treatment for students .   Keyword: agents of socialization, searching pattern of medical treatment
